Tuesday Topics | Favorite Instagram (Athletic) Memories

I am linking up again with  Kookyrunner and Zenaida for Tuesday Topics and we’re sharing some of our favorite Instagram (athletic) Memories today.

It was fun to scroll through my Instagram feed and find some of the precious moments of my athletic journey over the last few years.

November 2015

My first 10k race with my friend Susi. Without her, this whole running journey of mine wouldn’t have happened. When she asked me if I would run the 10k at the Berkeley Halfmarathon event with her, I laughed. Then – inspired by her own goal-setting – said: Let’s do it.

July 2016

Susi and I finished our first half marathon in San Francisco. I never thought that I would run a half marathon. It felt huge at the time, and it truly inspired me to continue on my running journey.

March 2019

I spent a long weekend with Tanja (when she still lived in SoCal) and she took me to the spin studio that she used to go to at the time. I took my first spin class with her and well, you already know what happened next.

August 2021

I got my Peloton Bike+ and I haven’t stopped smiling since. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I’ve drunk the Peloton Kool-Aid and I am not mad about it. This bike and the community keep me motivated and inspired every single day.

February 2023

Tanja and I went to Las Vegas to meet up with (many of) our very own Peloton community, the Streakers 365 (which I’ve only mentioned a gazillion times on this blog).

When I joined the Streakers365 (former Peloton Streakers) Facebook Group in January 2021, I had been looking for an accountability group for my self-imposed 365 workout streak goal. I had no idea that I had stumbled into a group that would turn out to be the most supportive and encouraging group of friends that I hadn’t met.

We spent countless hours together on the bike that goes nowhere, holding each other accountable with group rides and high fives and we have an amazing group of admins who continue to find new ways to build friendship and camaraderie. Organizing this in-person meet-up for the race in Las Vegas has been the absolute highlight so far. I am so thankful that I could meet so many of my Peloton friends in real life.

What are some of your favorite memories (that you shared on Instagram)?

  1. These photos are so fun, especially the group meetup of Peloton members in Vegas!

  2. So hard to pick favorites! Isn’t it fun to take a scroll down memory lane?

  3. This was so fun, San! And a really fun glimpse (since I only started reading your blog a few years ago) into your exercise history. I’m so glad it brings so much joy into your life <3

  4. That Peloton meet-up! I have not been to a Pelo meet-up, but have been to many blogger meet-ups, over the years. It’s quite amazing the friendships we build “online” with our supportive fitness friends, isn’t it?

  5. I love that the start of these passions is documented!!! I love having my workouts documented on Insta too :) Particularly hard earned PRs and workouts with friends and family!

This post was actually in my Feedly today! Is it finally fixed?!

  6. Awww, so cute! What a nice little trip down memory lane. I love how unapologetically obsessed you are with your Peloton! When it works, it works!!! ;-)

  7. Hey a post actually showed up in Feedly the day you published it!

Well this is a funny question because I am not on IG! I’ve been off for almost 2 years and honestly don’t miss it. But my favorite things I shared before I went off IG were my babies, pics from my wedding, and meet ups with other bloggers!! I get to see Amber next week in Banff so I am sure she will probably post a pic of us! :)

  8. How fun, especially the Peloton meetup! It’s always fun meeting online friends in real life!

  9. This is great! Since I only started reading your blog last November, and your cycling/running is such a big and consistent part of your life, it seems amazing that you only began relatively recently.

  10. What a fun way to talk about your running history! I didn’t know when or why you got a Peloton, so I learned something new from this!

    1. Yay, glad you like the walk down my memory lane ;)

  11. Wonderful memories! Now I see where your love of the bike came from.

    1. Yup, it was a progression :)

I don’t know what is my favourite thing I’ve shared on IG, maybe it’s all my favourite!

  13. I am here long enough to know you without the running and exercise routine. At least it wasn’t so present. I remember every single image and event you mentioned. That feels so good and at the same time I am feeling old. HA. I love that you keep those memories and that they bring you joy. I guess your exercising is my crafting/art work I. post on Instagram. I. could go down memory lane on that…

    1. I love that you’ve been around long enough to know all these events in my running journey… I love that we both blog (because so many people have stopped over the years!).

      1. Yes many have. Or they started monitoring it. Which is fine and I am happy that it works for them but for me it looses a bit of charm.

  14. These are fantastic -I love that you document your workout life and “regular life” on IG. <3

    1. Thanks my friend – I try to strike a balance ;) Ha.
