This week’s stats:

Walking: 13.5 mi
Cycling: 75.7 mi
Strength: 30 min
Yoga/Pilates/Barre: 100 min
Warm up/Stretching/Mobility: 65 min
Meditation: 210 min

I am linking up again for the Weekly Run Down with Kim and Deborah.

This week was week 4 of the Saturday Night Zones Power Zone Challenge. Since I was sick at the beginning of the week, I kept it light the during the first half of the week and focused on meditation, light yoga, and some outdoor walking.

I was a little worried if I would be able to catch up on the power zone rides for the challenge, but luckily, I felt good enough by Thursday to get all three power zones rides done for the week. Not ideal to complete them back-to-back on three consecutive days, but oh well.

Monday

  • 10 Min Morning Meditation – Chelsea
  • 30 Min 90s Walk – Jon (3/15/25)
  • 15 Min Focus Flow: Floor Poses – Chelsea (12/17/24)
  • 30 Min Sleep Meditation – Ross (10/24/22)

I felt a little better after laying low over the weekend and decided to lace up my sneakers and get out for a little walk around the neighborhood. It was a beautiful spring day and getting some fresh air is always a good idea.

Tuesday

  • 10 Min Happiness Meditation – Nico (11/17/24) — Egg-ceptional Self-Care
  • 30 Min Hozier Walk – Jess K (9/9/23) — Collect the Musical Eggs
  • 10 Min Arms & Light Weights – Jon (2/25/25) — Arms & Light Weights
  • 10 Min Focus Flow: Core – Chelsea (2/23/25) — Personal Streak
  • 20 Min Sleep Meditation – Chelsea (9/15/24)

I took another day off work, but went for another walk in the afternoon and also did a light strength workout and yoga flow.

Wednesday

  • 10 Min Seasonal Meditation – Ross (4/13/24)
  • 5 Min 80s Pop Warm Up – Lanebreak
  • 30 Min Rising Country Ride – Denis (11/9/24) — Collect the Musical Eggs/W4AR
  • 10 Min Listening Party Yoga Flow – Denis (10/3/24) — Egg-ceptional Self-Care/Personal Streak
  • Extra 10: Walk – Adrian (4/6/25)
  • 30 Min Sleep Meditation – Ross (4/24/24)

I took another day off work to fully recuperate, but felt good enough to in the afternoon to test out the lungs + legs on the bike. I wanted to see if I could get back to the power zone challenge the next day. The country ride with Denis was fun and I felt pretty good afterwards. I think I am on the mend.

Thursday

  • 10 Min Daily Meditation – Kirra (4/6/25)
  • 20 Min Focus Flow: Upper Body – Kristin (10/3/22) — Egg-ceptional Self-Care/Personal Streak
  • 5 Min Warm Up Ride – Matt (12/20/22)
  • 30 Min Power Zone Ride – Matt (5/18/23) — W4R1
  • 10 Min Justin Timberlake Cool Down Ride – Jenn (5/16/24) — Collect the Musical Eggs
  • 18 Min Just Ride: Outdoor
  • 16 Min Just Ride: Outdoor
  • 30 Min Sleep Meditation – Ross (1/23/23)

I started my morning with a 20-minute upper body yoga flow and then hopped on the bike to finally tackle week 4, ride 1 of the Power Zone Challenge. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to hold the two 8-minute intervals in the “sweet spot” (between zone 3+4) but was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t as hard as I expected. I am glad I gave myself a few days off the bike. I picked Jenn’s Justin Timberlake’s Cool Down Ride (fun!) and then got ready for work.

I rode my (street) bike to work today. I am planning to do this more often again this summer, now that the sun rises earlier and sets later.

Friday

  • 10 Min Seasonal Mediation – Kirra (1/25/24)
  • 5 Min Warm Up Ride – CDE (4/7/25)
  • 30 Min Power Zone Endurance Ride – CDE (6/26/24) — W4R2
  • 10 Min Power Zone Post-Ride Stretch – Olivia (11/15/24) — Collect the Musical Eggs
  • 16 Min Just Ride: Outdoor
  • 14 Min Just Ride: Outdoor
  • 11 Min Just Ride: Outdoor
  • 11 MIn Just Ride: Outdoor
  • 15 Min Restorative Yoga – Ross (3/1/22) — Personal Streak

I was relieved that there was only a 30-minute power zone endurance ride on the schedule today. Zones 2 + 3 feel doable most days because endurance is my jam. I also ran some errands with my (street) bike in the afternoon.

Saturday

  • 5 Min Kindness Meditation – Anna (4/1/25)
  • 10 Min Linkin Park Warm Up Ride – Bradley (12/14/22) — Collect the Musical Eggs
  • 45 Min Power Zone Ride – Matt (1/7/25) — W4R3
  • 5 Min Cool Down Ride – Matt (4/17/24)
  • 10 Min Arms & Light Weights – Jenn (9/18/24) — Arms & Light Weights
  • 10 Min Focus Flow: For Riders – Kristin (9/14/23) — Personal Streak
  • 10 Min Sleep Meditation – Kristin (9/14/23)

I finished up week 4 of the Power Zone Challenge today. I was a little bit intimidated by the structure of this 45-minute ride – three intervals in the sweet spot (between zone 3+4) again – but ended up doing ok. If you’re wondering about that ‘spike’ in the graph in the second interval, that was when Matt asked me to go from high cadence to low cadence mid-interval. Haha. As you can see, I’d much rather stay at the same cadence/resistence combo for the entirety of the interval.

Sunday

  • 10 Min Morning Meditation – Anna (8/26/24)
  • 5 Min Get To Know Me Warm Up Ride – Emma (2/9/25)
  • 30 Min Power Zone Max Ride – Denis (1/21/25) — W5R1
  • 5 Min Cool Down Ride – Alex T (2/27/25)
  • 10 Min Arms & Light Weights – Jess K (3/10/25)
  • 5 Min Lady Gaga Post-Ride Stretch – Bradley (3/26/25)
  • 15 Min Swimming (Breaststroke)
  • 20 Min Kacey Musgraves Restorative Yoga – Anna (6/26/24) — Collect the Musical Eggs/Serenity Sunday
  • 10 Min Gratitude Meditation – Aditi (10/20/22) — Serenity Sunday
  • 15 Sleep Meditation – Ross (6/8/21)

I (virtually) met up with Tanja this morning to get started on week 5 of the PZPack Power Zone Challenge. We tackled the first Power Zone Max Ride. I was a bit afraid of the zone 6+7 intervals but they ended up being quite fun. We did a quick cool down ride and then added an arms & light weights class.

In the afternoon, I finally took advantage of our neighborhood pool and swam a few laps. It was warm and sunny today and it was wonderful to just hang out in the water for a little while. I made it back home just in time to join my friend Lindsay for Serenity Sunday – restorative yoga and meditation.

Current Challenges + Trackers:

It was fun sprinkling some classes for the trackers throughout my week. I don’t have a solid strength schedule right now (I’ve been focusing on meditation and yoga for the last couple of months) but it’s nice to start fitting in some shorter strength classes again. Eventually, I have to make a more rigid schedule again, but for now I just try to fit in what I can. The trackers help me do that.

  1. Wow, San. You may have been sick, but you had an amazing week! I’m so glad you took the time to heal and rest, and that your return to your beloved bike went well. Plus! Outside biking! Swimming! (I am so envious – have not gone swimming for years… there is just something about being in the water, isn’t there?) I hope that you continue to feel better this week. Hugs, my friend. <3

  2. Glad you are on the mend. I hate missing workouts, but sometimes we have to listen to our body. I was in a hotel over the weekend in Indianapolis. I was gonna just do something – try to do whatever, but I decided to pull up a workout on my phone (I haven’t tried this since I got my iPhone – it didn’t work when I used my old phone). I found a favorite/very tough workout and I managed to do the whole thing before I had to get ready to watch Curly play basketball. Hooray.

  3. Looks like a nice week despite the rough start (with being ill). Doesn’t it feel great to ride the bike outdoors! You do a lot more intense indoor rides than I do, but I’m SO glad to be back on the trail with my hybrid and mountain bikes ;-)

  4. Wow that’s a lot of cycling miles! Are you on a break from running? I can’t remember if you were injured or just taking a break? I am kind of losing my joy of running at he moment enjoying doing other activities. It is all good!

  5. Amazing work, in spite of being unwell! You really crushed it! I’m so glad you’re feeling better and I’m sure the fresh air played a role in your recovery!

  6. I am very cautious getting back to my workout after I was sick and had a fever. I have heard too many bad things about what happened when you are back to fast. Or maybe it is just an excuse to not exercise.
So I am impressed that you jumped back in so quickly. But maybe it is easier when being fit?

  7. Yay! Glad you’re feeling better- sounds like you’re back to your old self. I always love the holiday-themed Peloton classes (even though I don’t have Peloton anymore). Things like that make life more fun! I love how you’re doing some bike commuting- that’s also fun. Hope you continue to feel good this week.

  8. I’m so glad that you’re feeling better, San! That was a rough one, and you did an excellent job taking care of yourself. That’s so important!

  9. I’m glad you were feeling well enough later in the week to get back to your usual activities! Last week was rough since Will was home recovering from his tonsillectomy. So I only went for walks but got some run/walks in over the weekend which felt greaet!

  10. […] my workout routine again. And since I had some catch up to do (in case you’re skipping my Weekly Run Downs, you might not know that I am currently participating in a Power Zone Challenge, which requires […]
