2025 Weekly Run Down 4/52 – Out of town again

This week’s stats:

Running: 4.5 mi
Cycling: 11.1 mi
Walking: 20 min
Strength: 55 min
Yoga/Pilates/Barre: 140 min
Warm-up/Stretching: 70 min
Meditation: 140 min

I am linking up again for the Weekly Run Down with Kim and Deborah.

This week was hard. The political situation has knocked me off kilter (more than expected) and it’s another unusual week because we traveled down to Southern California to be with Jon’s mom for the next two weeks. This means I am still not back to my normal workout routine. I did a lot of meditation this week, supplemented by yoga and some strength work. I also finally squeezed in a run over the weekend.

Monday

  • 5 Min Warm Up Ride – Matt (8/19/24)
  • 30 Min Power Zone Endurance Ride – Denis (11/30/24)
  • 5 Min Cool Down Ride – Denis (11/14/24)
  • 10 Min Focus Flow: Hips – Denis (12/19/23) — Creating Space for Self-Care/Personal Streak
  • 20 Min Walk
    • 10 Min Martin Luther King Jr. Meditation – Chelsea (1/19/25)
    • 10 Min Mindful Walking Meditation – Denis (10/10/23)

Tanja and I met up for a 30-minute Power Zone Endurance Ride in the morning. I am still taking it easy and decided to just pedal in zone 2. My HR is still slightly elevated from where it would normally be in zone 2, so I am trying to ease myself back into my routine.

In the afternoon, I took a 20-minute walk outdoors and listened to Chelsea’s Martin Luther King Jr Meditation (I highly recommend it!). I needed it after Monday.

Tuesday

  • 10 Min New Year’s Day Meditation – Kristin (12/31/23) — Creating Space for Self-Care
  • 20 Min Morning Yoga Flow – Denis (1/23/24) — Personal Streak
  • 15 Min Strength for Runners – Becs (7/19/21)
  • 5 Min Lower Body Stretch – Callie (7/25/23)
  • 20 Min Relaxing Meditation – Kristin (3/15/22)

I did some yoga and strength for runners in the morning and worked for a few hours before we headed to the airport to fly to Southern California. I used another 20 min relaxing meditation during my flight to combat all the jumbled thoughts of the day.

Wednesday

  • 20 Min Morning Yoga Flow – Ross (1/20/24) — Personal Streak
  • 10 Min Core for Runners – Becs (11/2/24)
  • 10 Min Year of Yes Full Body Stretch – Robin (1/25/21) — Creating Space for Self-Care

More yoga and core for runners.

Thursday

  • 10 Min Year of Yes Meditation – Chelsea (2/4/21) — Creating Space for Self-Care
  • 15 Min Morning Yoga Flow – Kristin (10/26/23) — Personal Streak
  • 10 Min Strength for Runners – Matt (6/4/24)
  • 10 Min Full Body Stretch – Callie (1/19/25)
  • 15 Min Sleep Meditation – Kristin (3/15/24)

More yoga and strength for runners. I also really enjoyed Kristin’s sleep meditation.

Friday

  • 15 Min Morning Meditation – Aditi (11/5/24) — Creating Space for Self-Care
  • 20 Min Morning Yoga Flow – Kristin (6/26/23) — Personal Streak
  • 10 Min Core for Runners – Becs (12/20/21)
  • 5 Min Full Body Stretch – Andy (1/4/23)
  • 30 Min Sleep Meditation – Anna (8/13/24)

Meditation, yoga, and core work in the morning before being overwhelmed by the news again. I really needed the 30-minute Sleep Meditation to shut off my brain.

Saturday

  • 5 Min Pre-Run Warm Up – Jon (1/8/25)
  • 30 Min 80s Run – Jon (9/7/24)
  • Extra 10: Endurance – Adrian (1/19/25)
  • 5 Min Cool Down Walk – Jess S (11/4/24)
  • 10 Min Mindful Walking Meditation – Denis (10/10/23)
  • 20 Min Yin Yoga – Denis (4/16/24) — Personal Streak/Creating Space for Self-Care

I took advantage of the sunny weather (and good air quality) in the morning and went for a run. It felt good to move and get out of my head. I also spent some time at the beach in the afternoon and repeated Denis’ Mindful Walking Meditation and that was just what my soul needed. This week has been rough, friends.

Sunday

  • 10 Min Daily Meditation – Kirra (1/5/25)
  • 20 Min Hip Mobility – Erik (5/2/23) — Creating Space for Self-Care
  • 10 Min Bodyweight Strength – Ben (11/4/24)
  • 20 Min Restorative Yoga – Mariana (9/17/21) — Personal Streak/Serenity Sunday
  • 10 Min Breathwork – Denis (1/21/22) — Serenity Sunday

I was contemplating another run in the morning but it rained and so I switched to some mobility work and a bodyweight strength workout. I also joined for yoga and meditation for Serenity Sunday in the afternoon.

Current Challenges + Trackers:

I am keeping up with my daily yoga and am confident that I can finish the self-care tracker next week.

  1. I’m glad there was rain in SoCal, if it’s not enough to stop any fires, maybe it will at least clean the air some and stop the spread. I’m so sorry for the stress you are going through. I am there too, though so far it doesn’t hit me as closely. Hang in there. I’m glad you are able to spend time with your MIL, that is a wonderful thing.

  2. I hope your MIL is okay- sounds like a potentially stressful situation on top of everything else. You know what your body needs, and lots of yoga and meditation sounds perfect. I’ll bet your run on Saturday and beach time helped a lot.
Hang in there! Things will get better soon (just kidding- they won’t. But we’ll get through it all.)

  3. Sorry for the tough week, but kudos for all that self care ;-)

  4. I am sorry you had a stressful week. Always helps to lean into what helps you feel calm. I was surprised to read that the air quality is good there after all the fires. Stay safe!

  5. I am still recovering from surgery as I feel abnormally tired. So I am resting more than usual and listening to my body. The news and reality we are living in is ROUGH though. Sigh.

  6. Sorry you are having a tough week. I hope all is well with your MIL! I’m glad you are taking the time to listen to your body and relax as much as you can.

  7. Sorry you are having a tough week. There is a lot going on and it is no fun. Add in family worries…
Have a better week and maybe a bit more beach time as this seems to be healing.
