2026 | Weekly Run Down 3/52 –  A strong week

This week felt great. I am still evaluating if I am overdoing it with both half marathon training and participating in a Power Zone Challenge but I purposefully chose the “time crunch” option for the PZ Challenge (with three “shorter” rides: 30-30-45 minutes) and so far I feel it complements my run training. I realize I don’t have a dedicated rest day (not ideal), but I am currently keep it short and sweet on Fridays, so I count that as my active rest day (will reconsider, if necessary).

Monday

  • 10 Min Body Scan Meditation – Denis (6/10/25) — Wellness Wisdom
  • 15 Min Morning Yoga Flow – Chelsea (9/5/24) — Personal Streak
  • 5 Min Warm Up Walk – Becs (9/20/21)
  • Team Wilpers Half Marathon Training W2R1 | Endurance Run + Strides
    • 45 Min The Beatles Run – Becs (12/25/20) — Artist Series Mania
  • 5 Min Cool Down Walk – Becs (10/27/25)
  • 30 Min Ricky Martin Run + Walk – Jess K (10/9/25)

One other person was in the gym this morning. Are the New Year’s Resolutions already waning? I was happy to be able to hop on the treadmill for some endurance with strides and some Beatles music in my ears. I also met up with #BCBabes Sherry and Kristin for a 30-minute walk during my lunch break.

Tuesday

  • 10 Min Calming Meditation – Anna (10/14/25)
  • 5 Min Warm Up Ride – Hannah F (5/26/25)
  • 30 Min Power Zone EDM Ride – Hannah F (7/19/25) — PZ-W2R1
  • 10 Min Lorde Cool Down Ride – CDE (1/7/26) — Artist Series Mania
  • 20 Min Lower Body: Week 2, Day 1 – Jess S (9/26/22) — PUTV1
  • 5 Min Lower Body Stretch – Adrian (11/4/25) — Wellness Wisdom
  • 10 Min Restorative – Denis (7/11/23)

My alarm startled me awake this morning. I was in a dream phase (don’t ask me, don’t remember what I dreamed, just remember that I was thinking „oh come on, let me finish this dream”). I did a meditation (my “snooze”-substitute) and then got up and dressed to tackle a Power Zone Ride with Hannah F. Zone 4, again. I got through it fine. I followed up with week 2, day 1 of the Pump Up The Volume program and Jess Sims didn’t mess around. Quads on fire.

Wednesday

  • 10 Min Peace Meditation – Anna (1/13/26)
  • 10 Min Morning Yoga Flow – Kristin (8/4/22) — Personal Streak
  • 5 Min Warm Up Walk – JJ (7/10/24)
  • Team Wilpers Half Marathon Training W2R2 | Hill Run
    • 45 Min Pearl Jam Run – Selena (7/3/21) — Artist Series Mania
  • 5 Min Cool Down Walk – JJ (3/6/24)
  • 20 Min 80s Walk – JJ (10/3/25)

I was feeling my quads this morning from yesterday’s PUTV class, but I was able to execute my hill intervals. I really love doing them on the treadmill. I picked an old Pearl Jam Run (from 2021) with Selena to entertain me. In case someone at Peloton is reading this, I think we need a new Pearl Jam run on the platform.  During lunchtime, I met up with #BCBabes Sherry and Kristin for a (virtual) 80s Walk with JJ.

Thursday

  • 10 Min Focus Mediation – Anna (3/7/25)
  • 20 Min Upper Body: Week 2, Day 2 – Jess S (9/26/22) — PUTV1
  • 10 Min Focus Flow: For Runners – Nico (6/4/24)
  • 5 Min Warm Up Walk – Emma (6/6/24)
  • Team Wilpers Half Marathon Training W2R3 | Endurance Run
    • 30 Min Green Day Run – Camila (2/15/24) — Artist Series Mania
  • 5 Min Cool Down Walk – Joslyn (10/13/25)
  • 5 Min Post-Run Stretch – Andy (1/14/26)

I did my Upper Body workout with Jess with my new, heavier weights this morning. Let’s see what my arms and shoulders say tomorrow.

I “warmed up“ for my run with a focus flow for runners and then chose a 30-minute Green Day run for my weekly endurance run. I’ve been a Green Day fan since the mid-90s, and Camila put together a great playlist.

Friday

  • 10 Min Britney Spears HIIT Cardio – Matty (7/15/20) — Artist Series Mania
  • 30 Min Power Zone Endurance Ride – Ben (11/30/25) — PZ-W2R2
  • 5 Min Basics: Anjaneyasana – Ross (11/30/22) — Wellness Wisdom

I kept it short and sweet today with a 10-minute HIIT Cardio (Warm Up) and a 30-minute Power Zone Endurance Ride for the Power Zone Challenge. I also checked off a yoga basics class for the Wellness Wisdom tracker.

Saturday

  • 5 Min Pre-Run Warm Up – Alex T (11/19/25)
  • Team Wilpers Half Marathon Training W2R4 | Long Run
    • 20 Min Broadway Run – Jess K (2/1/22) — Artist Series Mania
    • 45 Min Endurance Run – Matt (12/23/25)
  • 5 Min Post-Run Stretch – Matt (1/726)
  • 10 Min Focus Flow: Hips – Denis (12/19/23)

I started my day leisurely, ran some errands mid-day, and then set out for my long run (7 miles this week) in the afternoon. I felt great throughout my run, although I definitely could work on keeping the heart rate low during these long training runs, preferably < 130 bpm (my average was 141 bpm).

Sunday

  • 5 Min Warm Up Ride – Bradley (1/5/26)
  • 45 Min Power Zone Endurance 90s Ride – Sam (12/2/25) — PZ-W2R3
  • 5 Min Cool Down Ride – Sam (12/7/23)
  • 20 Min Full Body Strength: Week 2, Day 3 – Jess S (9/26/22) — PUTV1
  • 10 Min Madonna Standing Core Strength – Rebecca (6/21/23) — Artist Series Mania
  • 20 Min Restorative – Denis (1/16/26) — Personal Streak/Serenity Sunday
  • 10 Min Seasonal Meditation – Kirra (1/25/24) — Serenity Sunday

I met up with Tanja (#willspin4it) and my sister (#nidigreto) on the bike this morning for a 45-minute power zone endurance ride. Good thing I didn’t look at the class structure beforehand because I was not mentally prepared for two 7-minute intervals in zone 3. Of course, we handled them like the athletes that we are – sweat dripping and all. Haha.
Tanja also joined me for the last class of the Pump Up The Volume (PUTV) program this week, and ten minutes of core training. Later in the afternoon, I joined the Streakers for yoga and meditation for Serenity Sunday.

Current Challenges + Trackers:

I am keeping up with all the trackers! I am particularly enjoying the artist series classes. There are so many good ones!

  1. Regarding your lack of full-on rest days…I think you know your body and its limits better than anyone else. You’re doing active rest, which I believe is a great option. If that’s what works for you, then embrace it ;-) I don’t take full rest/recovery days either. For me, my body responds best with movement, so I keep things low-key when it’s time for recovery (but I don‘t sit on the couch, LOL).

    1. You have a good point. We know what our bodies can handle.

  2. You had a great week of training! My heart rate is always higher even on long runs. I would have to run annoyingly slow to keep it lower. I think I have a higher heart rate when doing cardio than average it seems. That was even the case when I was at peak fitness.

I had a great week of exercise. I went to OTF twice and did some Caroline Girvan strength sessions.

    1. I have a pretty low resting heart rate, so I am always surprised when my heart rate on easy runs is higher than expected (I don’t feel it while I am running). I know, it is really hard to run painfully slow – haha.
I am happy to hear you had a great week of exercise yourself. I was always intrigued by OTF but never tried it out.

  3. I do like to have a rest day from strength and tough cardio. Currently one of my weekend days I just do core and stretch and maybe an easy walk. You have to figure out what works best for you. Nice week and variety

    1. Sometimes I will take complete rest days but not weekly ;) Core and stretch sounds great for an active rest day though.

  4. You had a great workout week, and I love the variety of classes you take! One of my favorite rides this week was the 20-minute Ed Sheeran low-impact ride with Bradley Rose. It was fun to watch Bradley savoring the music – I could tell he was really into it! I’m finding that a “slow burn” helps my blood sugar get lower, which, for now, is my main goal.

    1. I love that you’re figuring out what classes work for you, Michelle. The low impact classes are excellent and Bradley is hilarious! I love taking his classes.

  5. I do like to have a rest day but I think that’s because deep down inside, I’m lazy. Lol, no disrespect to those who truly NEED a rest day! I think as long as you’re keeping it easy and you feel good for your workouts, what you’re doing works for you.
You had a really nice mix of cardio, strength and yoga, as usual!

  6. I always feel like I am slacking when I read your weekly updates. However I have been lazy so many years and I need to remind myself I am on a totally different level. I have constantly done movement for the past 2 years and that is such a milestone. Still it is impressing and humbling reading your weekly reports. You can be so proud.
