2024 Weekly Run Down 9/52 – Let’s wrap up those challenges!

I am linking up again for the Weekly Run Down with Kim and Deborah.

This week’s stats:

Running: 11.4 mi
Walking: 1 mi
Cycling: 84.9 mi
Bootcamp: 60 min
Strength: 55 min
Yoga/Pilates/Barre: 130 min
Warm up + Stretching: 55 min
Meditation: 10 min

This week, both the Power Zone Challenge and the Team Wilpers Winter Run Challenge were wrapping up. 8 weeks just went by in the blink of an eye. Well, I am a little behind on the Run Challenge, but I will finish that up this coming week. I completed the Streakers365 trackers for February.
March will be a busy month for me with travel, so I am glad that I will able to finish up all my challenges before I leave. I’ll have to be very strategic about my workouts in the next few weeks and therefore could not sign up for ALL THE TRACKERS in March (and you can imagine how much that pains my heart – haha).

I did sign up for the SUMMIIT Climb Event though. It’s comparable to the PeloFondo, but it’s not distance-based, but a virtual climb challenge and it’s taking place this coming week (well starting today, Sunday!). You have 7 days to reach a peak of your choice. Each of the climbs, ranging from 10,000 to 29,000 feet, provides simulated elevation gain for indoor stationary bikes, with 100% customization to the rider via personal FTP.

Since this is my first climb challenge, and I also have limited time this week (I have to finish the climb by Thursday), I signed up for lowest mountain, the ascent of Haleakala at 10,000 ft. I am excited to try something new! But let’s recap the rest of the week first!

Monday

  • 10 Min Yoga Flow – Ross (2/14/24) — Personal Streak/Instructor Bingo
  • 20 Min Upper Body Strength – Robin (3/7/23)
  • 5 Min Warm Up Ride – Hannah F (5/1/23)
  • 30 Min PZE Ride – CDE (12/13/23) — PZ-W8R1/Instructor Bingo — 1250th RIDE!
  • 5 Min Cool Down Ride – Hannah F (7/16/22)
  • 20 Min Country Ride – Denis (1/24/24) — My Favorite Things/Instructor Bingo

I started the new week with a yoga flow and then joined Lindsay for 20 minutes of Upper Body Strength with Robin. Then I celebrated my 1250th ride with Tanja in a Power Zone Endurance Ride. I also hit 6k Peloton minutes this morning and finished the “My Favorite Things” tracker with Denis’ Country Ride for “favorite music genre”.

Tuesday

  • 20 Min Pop Punk Pilates – Aditi 2/27/24 — Personal Streak
  • Team Wilpers Winter Run Challenge – W7R2
    • 15 Min 80s Run – Jeffrey (2/12/24) — Instructor Bingo
    • 30 Min 90s Run – Jon (12/21/23)  — Instructor Bingo
      • 15 Min Warm up
        • 5 min @ Easy Pace
        • 5 x 15 sec strides + 45 sec @ Easy Pace
        • 5 min @ Easy Pace
      • 20 Min Main Set:
        • 3 x 3 min @ V02Max /3 min Easy
        • 2 min faster than V02Max
      • 10 Min Cool Down
  • Extra 10: Hike – Marcel (2/27/23)
  • 10 Min Wimbledon Post-Run Stretch – Joslyn (6/26/22)

I got warmed up in Aditi’s Pop Punk Pilates class with Lindsay, Sherry and Melissa and then I set out for week 7, run 2 of the Team Wilpers Run Challenge. It was chilly outside and again, my Garmin died during my last V02 Max interval. It’s almost 8 years old and still in great condition, but its battery does NOT like the cold temps and occasionally just shuts down randomly. Luckily, I was able to revive it (kept it under my long-sleeved shirt for a couple of minutes to warm it up) and finish my workout, but the graph looks a little wonky and the average pace dropped temporarily.

Wednesday

  • 15 Min Focus Flow: Core – Denis (3/25/22) — Personal Streak
  • 30 Min Bootcamp: Full Body – Callie (1/30/24) — Love & Bootcamp
  • Extra 10: Low Impact – Hannah F (7/10/23) — Instructor Bingo
  • 5 Min 80s Warm Up Lanebreak
  • 30 Min Power Zone Endurance EDM Ride – Ben (2/22/22) — PZ-W8R2
  • 5 Min Cool Down Ride – Ben (6/8/23)
  • 10 Min Afrobeats Full Body Stretch – Adrian (2/25/24)

I started my morning with a yoga flow for core and then joined Sherry, Melissa, and Lindsay for a 30-minute Bootcamp. It’s the last one I needed for my Bootcamp tracker this month. I had a little bit of time to kill afterward and did a quick low-impact ride before I tackled week 8, ride 2 of the Power Zone Challenge with Tanja. I am usually not a big EDM fan, but the beats worked well for the intervals. Just don’t text your riding buddy during the last interval – haha. It makes your graph look wonky!
We finished with a quick cool-down ride and a new full-body stretch with Adrian that Lindsay recommended (and which is now bookmarked).

Thursday

  • 10 Min Barre: Upper Body – Ally (2/21/24) — FeBARRErary
  • 30 Min Bootcamp: Upper Body – Jess (2/16/24) — Love & Bootcamp
  • 15 Min Climb Ride – Olivia (2/15/24) — Instructor Bingo
  • 10 Min Yoga Flow – Kirra (2/6/24) — Personal Streak/Instructor Bingo

I joined the #BCBabes for another Bootcamp this morning. I am counting this as half extra bootcamp towards my Love & Bootcamp tracker. I didn’t get the 60-minute bootcamp done in February, but at least another 30 minutes :)

I also did a 15-minute practice climb ride with Olivia. As mentioned, Sherry talked me into signing up for the SUMMIIT Climb event (well, she didn’t have to do much convincing – she just mentioned it and I was like “The PZ Challenge is over, why not?” Haha).

Friday

  • 30 Min Two for One: WHM Celebration Ride – Hannah F & Leanne (3/1/20)
  • 10 Min Low Impact Ride – Cody (4/6/21) – Instructor Bingo
  • 20 Min Yoga Flow – Nico (7/16/23) — Easter Egg Hunt/Personal Streak/Instructor Bingo
  • 5 Min Full Body Stretch – Robin (4/20/22) — Lucky in Self-Love

Today was the beginning of a new month and with that, new trackers. March is Women’s History Month and so the #BCBabes marked the occasion with a WHM Celebration Ride with Hannah F & Leanne. So fun! I also got started on our new March trackers and checked off a yoga flow with Nico and a full-body stretch with Robin.

Saturday

  • 5 Min Pre-Run Warm Up – Joslyn (1/8/24)
  • Team Wilpers Winter Run Challenge – W7R3
    • 20 Min 80s Run – Logan (10/11/23) — Instructor Bingo
    • 20 Min 80s Run – Matty (10/3/23) — Instructor Bingo

I am still catching up on the Team Wilpers Winter Run Challenge (just 6 days behind) and took advantage of a break in the rain to finish up week 7 with an endurance run. I decided to swing by the Voter Center on the way and drop off our ballots. It’s the California Primary on Tuesday. Have you voted yet?

Today was the first day of SUMMIIT Climb. It’s the first time I am participating (because WHY NOT?) and I wanted to get a good headstart on the ascent. I will be traveling to SoCal again later this coming week and only have until Thursday to finish the climb because I will be away from my bike. I was able to talk Tanja into also joining the Climb so we could ride together this week.

We also had to to finish up week 8 of the Power Zone Challenge today, and since we were both not going to do the FTP test, we decided to ride the Power Zone Endurance Ride and count it for the SUMMIIT Climb. I had figured out beforehand that my endurance ride produced roughly the average output that I needed for the climb event, the only metric I had to adjust was “cadence”. Which, if you know me, is the biggest challenge. I am much more comfortable at higher cadences (around 90 RPM) and was now forced to ride <70 PRM. This is the reason my graph looks extra wriggly today. Smoothing out your pedal stroke at a low cadence is hard!

I added a couple more shorter climb rides later (hitting a 10-minute PR in Kendall’s ride and then adding another PR on Matt’s 10-minute climb ride) and ended with 2,765 ft ascended for the day. I made a good dent!

Streaker365 Personal Streak (Yoga/Pilates/Barre)
SUMMIIT Climb Challenge

I am only doing three trackers for March (I KNOW!). It’s hard, but I have to keep it simple because I’ll be traveling overseas and be away from my bike for the second half of the month.

How did you start into the new month? Any exciting plans for March?

  1. I’ve been slacking on the bike lately but you have motivated me. I am loving doing more Pilates and barre classes as well. Have a great week

  2. That climb challenge sounds…challenging (but fun!). Do you plan all your stacks at once, or do them daily (or the night before)? I’d be do lost, LOL

  3. Your Sunday schedule made me want to curl up in a ball and cry. How did you do all that? Nicely done!

  4. All of those trackers are quite motivational! Good job getting those classes done. You had a very busy Sunday!

  5. Oooh, you know what would be awesome? Guest posts (or A guest post) with your BCBabes! Do you think they’d be willing to introduce themselves to us? Because I would love to know who these fabulous people are who share your passion for Peleton and workouts. :)
