2026 | Weekly Run Down 1/52 –  Finishing up the Team Wilpers Holiday Challenge + A New Year 

We ended a year and started a new one this week. I was kinda ready to start a new year, but also always a bit nostalgic to leave an old year behind (even one that was difficult for a very large chunk of the time). As always, Peloton is keeping me sane (and moving) with friends, and for that I am thankful.

This was the last week of the Team Wilpers Holiday Run Challenge, and I was excited to finish strong with a 2% increase in my 20-minute distance test. Just in time to kick off half marathon training next week.

Monday

  • 10 Min Courage Meditation – Anna (3/2/21)

I opted for a yoga flow and a little strength training in the morning. Later, I met up with #BCBabe Sherry during my lunch break for a quick 80s Rock Walk with Susie Chan. 

Tuesday

This morning, I met up with my Peloton friend Jamie (#theREALnessie) and my sister on the bike for a 45-minute progressive push ride. Jaime and I had talked about riding together for a while and we made it happen this morning. Turns out, we work out around the same time every morning, so it was easy to coordinate! I finished with a quick focus flow for riders.

I took Wednesday off (because it was New Year’s Eve) and did my V02 Max Interval in the afternoon. It was pouring, and I really took advantage of the treadmill (at our HOA gym) this week. I am also trying to add in some hike classes because walking on an incline is good for you.

I started the new year with sleeping in and Anna’s New Year’s Day meditation, which was lovely. In the afternoon, I completed the second but last threshold run for the Team Wilpers challenge.

Friday

I started the day with meditation and then met up with the #BCBabes and Tanja for Thunder 45: Fully Body Tread Bootcamp. It was my first tread bootcamp, and I had to go over to our gym to use the tread (and five other people were working out today! Usually, nobody is there… but then it dawned on me that it’s January 2 and it’s all the people and their New Year’s resolutions. This won’t last. I was still able to snatch one of the two treads and do the bootcamp with my friends. 

I feel a bit funny using the Thunder 45 class for the “Wellness Wisdom” tracker (“try a new workout or class you normally don’t take”) because I don’t know how “wise” it was to do an Advanced Tread Bootcamp with Adrian (I AM SO SORE!), but hey, you gotta try something new sometimes. Haha.  

Saturday

As mentioned, I was so sore from Friday and really didn’t feel like moving, but I had to finish up the Team Wilpers Holiday Run Challenge today, and that means I had to do the 20-minute distance test on tired legs. Oof.

I procrastinated until the afternoon and then decided to just get it over with… only to find both treads taken at the gym. Damn it. I did a warm-up on the elliptical, hoping one of the two people on the treads would finish, but no. So I added an arms & shoulders workout and had to wait another 5 minutes until finally a tread became available. My legs were heavy and tired, but I got the distance test done and even accomplished a 2% increase from where I started. I’ll take it!! 

Sunday

Tanja (#willspin4it) and I started the new Power Zone Challenge today, but it officially doesn’t kick off until tomorrow (so I’ll tell you more about it next week). My sister (also in Germany) was also able to join us. So happy we can ride together across the time zones! I also joined the Streakers for Serenity Sunday – yoga and meditation – in the afternoon.

  4. Happy New Year! Look at all those trackers! I love it!

    I really love seeing new people in the gym, even if it means it’s harder to snag equipment. I was on a line four deep for the chest press today, but not because of a new person… it was a regular who was just camping out. Why be like that?

    I hope 2026 is good to us all! We need a break!
