2025 Weekly Run Down 32/52 – I mean, why not?

This week’s stats:

Running: 19.1 mi
Cycling: 27 mi
Walking: 20.15 mi
Strength: 25 min
Yoga/Pilates/Barre: 100 min
Warm up/Stretching: 35 min
Meditation: 100 min

I am linking up again for the Weekly Run Down with Kim and Deborah.

This is week 6 of the Team Wilpers Summer Run Challenge, week 2 of the “Raiders of the Lost Zone“ Power Zone Challenge, and the first full week of August, where I decided to ramp up my running mileage in potential prep for a fall race. In case you’re wondering (probably not), I have not signed up for anything yet, but that does not mean that I am not contemplating a couple of races. I tend to sign up late rather than early. Not always the smartest idea when planning your training, but hey, this year has been a pretty wild ride, so why wouldn’t I continue on this trajectory and see what sticks for these last 5 months (gasp!) of 2025. Let me know if you’re also flying by the seats of your pants these days!

Monday

  • 10 Daily Meditation – Anna (8/3/25)
  • 30 Min Heart Health Walk – Matt (1/30/25)
  • 10 Min Savasana – Anna (1/31/24) — Personal Streak

I am establishing a new “rest day” in my week and this will be Mondays (I think). At least, today was a rest day. I took Matt’s Hearth Health Walk during my lunch break and my friend Sherry joined me virtually. It was fun knowing that she was on the “other side of the screen”. I also highly recommend Matt’s walk. It was fun and so informative and I kept nodding along and thinking “yes!”.

This morning was for speed play. I really, really enjoy these short bursts of speed with walking breaks in between. It makes the class fly by fast and it also makes me want to run fast (at least temporarily, ha!). When the 30-minutes were over, I felt so energized that I decided to add another 20-minute fun run to my workout. I also got a bit of walking in during my work day because of various trips back and forth on campus.

Wednesday

  • 10 Min Daily Meditation – Denis (7/6/25)
  • 5 Min Pre-Run Warm Up – Rebecca (7/17/24)
  • 45 Min 2000s Run – Matt (6/17/25) — Streakers Camp
  • 10 Min Focus Flow: For Rowers – Ross (6/14/23) — Camp Retreat
  • 30 Min Summer Celebration Walk — JJ (6/6/24)

As noted above, I am trying to up my mileage and I added in a 45-minute easy run today. It’s really just about getting out there right now and not “thinking” (and talking myself out of running in the morning). There is really no excuse, the weather couldn’t be more perfect, it’s still light early, and once I am out the door, I am having the best time. I need to constantly remind myself of that right now.

Thursday

  • 10 Min Morning Meditation – Chelsea (8/6/25)
  • 5 Min Get to know me Warm Up Ride – Ben (7/13/25)
  • 45 Min Power Zone Endurance Ride – Ben (4/8/24) — PZ-W2Ride2
  • 10 Min Build Up to Push Ups: Week 2, Day 1 – Joslyn — Stronger into Summer
  • 30 Min Pop Walk – Susie (12/17/24) — Streakers Camp
  • 20 Min Yin Yoga – Denis (2/18/25) — Personal Streak/Camp Retreat

I completed a Power Zone Edurance Ride this morning with 8-10-8 minute intervals in in Zone 3. Holy moly, it was sweaty. I really love the endurance rides but 10 minutes in zone 3 can feel long. I also started Week 2 of the Build Up to Push Ups program.

Friday

  • 10 Min Morning Meditation – Aditi (9/7/21)
  • 5 Min Pre-Run Warm Up – Rebecca (7/17/24)
  • TW Summer Run Challenge W6R2 | Over/Under Intervals
    • 45 Min Endurance Run – Susie (6/28/25) — PZ-W2Run2
      • 5 Min @ Easy Pace
      • 5 Min @ Marathon Pace
      • Main Set
        • 5 x 1 Min @ Threshold Pace/ 1 Min Marathon Pace
        • 5 Min @ Easy Pace
        • 5 x 1 Min @ Threshold Pace/ 1 Min Marathon Pace
      • 10 Min @ Easy Pace
  • 10 Min Focus Flow: For Riders – Kristin (9/14/23) — Personal Streak/Summer Retreat

I had another over/under interval run on deck and I think (?) I am getting better at it. The range between threshold and marathon pace is small and I am really trying to dial in those paces.

Saturday

  • 20 Deep Relaxation Meditation – Chelsea (8/2/25)
  • 10 Min Glutes & Legs Strength – Callie (6/22/25) — Stronger into Summer
  • 20 Min Morning Slow Flow – Denis (3/6/22) — Personal Streak/Streakers Camp
  • 10 Min Sleep Meditation – Kristin (12/16/21)

I had good intentions on getting my Team Wilpers long run done today (and maybe even add a few extra miles) but then the morning got away from me, and the temperatures rose so quickly and I really didn’t want to run in the heat. I could have jumped on the treadmill, but … I didn’t. Instead, I had an active rest day and checked a couple of classes off my Streakers365 trackers.

Sunday

  • 10 Min Morning Meditation – Nico (1/17/22)
  • 5 Min Warm Up Ride – Erik (6/25/25)
  • 30 Min Power Zone Ride – Denis (5/24/25) — PZ-W2Ride2

  • TW Summer Run Challenge 2025 – W6R3 | Long Run
    • 45 Min 90s Run – Adrian (11/20/22)
      • 10 Min @ Easy Pace
      • Main Set
        • 10 Min @ Half Marathon Pace

  • 10 Min Breathing Meditation –  (5/13/25) — Serenity Sunday
  • 5 Min Core Strength – Callie (8/6/25) — Stronger into Summer

Oops. Doubled-up on workouts again. I was scheduled for ride 2 of the Power Zone Challenge, a Power Zone Ride (with Zone 4 intervals) with Tanja. It was a sweaty ride, but Denis’ coaching was on point and he picked a very fun playlist!

Then I had run 3 of the Team Wilpers Challenge left to do (because I slacked chose an active rest day on Saturday), but I didn’t think it was a big deal because it was an easy run with a couple of halfmarathon pace intervals. Absolutely doable – and I felt great afterward!

I also joined for Serenity Sunday in the afternoon and added on a 5-minute core class.

How was your week? Are you also going between wanting to do it all and spontaneous active rest days? :)

  1. I have started taking my training more seriously again. It is hard because I suffered from migraines four days but I wasn’t exercising very structured in July so I want to get back to that.
I actually started my first interval walking train and that was a new experience. I actually understood what you were talking today. HA.

  2. I actually was wondering if you had any races planned! I have one big race planned (for March) but nothing between now and then- I’m sure I’ll add something in, but haven’t decided what yet. It sounds like your running is going great, and you had a nice week. I’m still envious of your “perfect” running weather! And yes- we have to appreciate the last of the dwindling daylight early mornings right now.

  3. I also have been thinking about but not quite ready to commit to a fall race! Part of it is I signed up for a race in June that I ended up skipping (weather was iffy with severe storms in the area, and I was undertrained/not confident, esp for the warm/humid conditions), so I’m feeling a little sheepish after that, and part of it is I have run so little this summer because I just can’t handle the high heat/humidity. But the weather has been more reasonable the past couple weeks so I have added some jogging to my walks here and there which is sparking my interest in a race… we’ll see! I am an “extremely slow runner” by nature (got a little faster a few yrs back with some very disciplined training, which was gratifying but it just wasn’t something I could maintain bc it was such a tremendous effort!) so my workouts/goals are pretty low key in general. Your speed workouts look awesome; I can see how that could be a lot of fun! Taking rest days and even doubling up if/when it feels right sounds great too.

  4. So good to see you back in the game with challenges and great variety!
I struggle with rest days, even when they are active. Forward movement is so good for my peace of mind and I just want to keep moving with that.
I don’t have any races on my calendar right now either. I’d like that to change, but we will get there! Keep it up!

  5. I think you might have been the only one this week to say the weather was perfect for a run! Lucky you!! Which distance are you eyeing up for a race?

  6. I don’t think I would ever say OOPS I WIRKED OUT TWICE TODAY. I would not be able to manage that. I do like a sweaty workout but doubling up is unlikely. I’m glad your weather has cooperated for running.

  7. That is an unbelievable set of Sunday workouts, my friend. Whew. I imagine you slept well Sunday night. :)
