2024 Weekly Run Down 18/52 – back in Germany

I am linking up again for the Weekly Run Down with Kim and Deborah.

This week’s stats:

Running: 1 mi
Walking:  6.4 mi
Yoga/Pilates/Barre: 60 min
Meditation: 35 min

This week was very “light”  in terms of workouts. I spent the week in Germany again with my family to celebrate some once-in-a-lifetime milestones: my niece’s confirmation (I am her godmother) and my parents’ 50th anniversary. I am so thankful I was able to travel again and be there for these special occasions. Workouts, of course, took a backseat this week and I am absolutely ok with it.

Monday

  • 60 Min Pop Walk – Jon (11/2/23)
  • 60 Min Pop Walk – Jess K (12/17/23)
  • Extra 10: Endurance Run – Hannah F (4/22/24)
  • 20 Min Earth Day Walk – JJ (4/22/24)
  • 10 Min Savasana – Denis (5/20/22) — Personal Streak

My Mom and I took advantage of the warm and sunny weather and went for a nice long walk in the afternoon. When we got home, we realized that we needed to get some bread from the local bakery and since my Dad was gone with the car, I decided to run to the bakery (about 1 mile away) and walk back with the goods :)

Tuesday

  • 10 Min Standing Yoga – Ross (5/23/22) — Personal Streak

Some standing yoga to get the day rolling!

Wednesday

  • 20 Min Relaxing Meditation – Ross (1/28/22)
  • 10 Min Savasana – Chelsea (2/1/22) — Personal Streak

A full day helping my mom clean up the patio (does that count as a workout?) and visiting with a dear college friend. Meditation and Savasana were all I could fit in before bedtime.

Thursday

  • 10 Min Savasana – Anna (7/28/21) — Personal Streak

Another full day, meeting up with another college friend in the morning and my longest childhood friend in the afternoon. Again, Savasana before bedtime.

Friday

  • 5 Min Morning Meditation – Aditi (4/22/24)

I am glad I started the day with a short morning meditation to earn my Peloton ‘blue dot’ because the rest of the day was packed with family stuff.

Saturday

  • 10 Min Yoga Flow – Kirra (4/10/24) — Personal Streak

A 10-minute yoga flow to start the day and again a full day of family stuff. This was my parents’ anniversary, so we were quite busy during the day and went to a family dinner in the evening.

Sunday

  • 10 Min Calming Meditation – Anna (4/30/24) — Personal Streak

This was my last full day in Germany and I needed the calming meditation to start this last day. It’s always emotional for me to say goodbye to my family and it does not get easier, even though I’ve been doing this for quite a while now.

I got started on the May trackers, but have some catching up to do.

  1. Oh, how wonderful to spend time with your family! I hope you had safe travels home and an easy transition back to everything.

  2. I’m so glad you were able to be back in Germany to celebrate such momentous events.

I can relate to this: “it does not get easier, even though I’ve been doing this for quite a while now.”
I feel the exact same way about the regular transition I have from co-parenting to solo-parenting back to co-parenting. My husband travels about 40% of the time and I think people believe it gets easier over time. I understand the process better, but it doesn’t get easier. In some ways, it gets harder, I think, because I’m more aware of the impact on our family of regular hellos and goodbyes (we’ve been doing this for well over a decade now)! We manage it well, but it isn’t any easier despite years of doing it!

  3. I love that you are prioritizing your Peloton streak even when you’re away from home. You’re a real inspiration for the rest of us!

  4. I love that you took a jog to get fresh bread from a bakery <3 There can't be anything better than that. I love seeing photos from Germany. Always makes me miss it. SO MUCH. How lovely to have some time with family and to celebrate such exciting things with them.
