2023 Weekly Run Down 51/52 – All the Holiday classes

I am linking up again for the Weekly Run Down with Kim and Deborah.

This week was all about the holiday classes. Since I finished the Power Zone Challenge last week, I didn’t have any scheduled rides on my calendar and was free to choose whatever I felt like. So I chose a lot of fun holiday classes and also whatever classes I had left to do for my trackers. It was a nice mix. Later in the week, we traveled to see family for the holidays. Sadly, I missed the Streakers 365 swarm ride on Saturday and won’t have access to my bike for the next few days, but I am looking forward to taking classes on the app while I am away.

Monday

  • 15 Min Core Strength – Robin (8/14/23) — Core Snowball Challenge
  • 10 min Barre: Core – Hannah C (12/18/23) — Personal Streak/DecemBARRE/Instructor Bingo
  • 30 Min Run DMC Ride –  Denis (12/14/23) — Instructor Bingo
  • 30 Min Holiday Ride – Erik (12/3/23) — Instructor Bingo
  • 10 min Hanukkah ALW – Bradley (12/7/23) — Lift those Snowballs/Instructor Bingo
  • 5 Min Post ride Stretch – Cody (6/22/23) — Stretch into the Holidays
  • 20 Min Sleep Meditation – Kristin (10/18/23) — Instructor Bingo

I started the day with core. Robin is not usually my go-to instructor, but this core class was actually quite good. I might have bookmarked it. I joined Sherry for her milestone RUN DMC Ride with Denis and all other BCBabes. Lindsay, Kristin, and Melissa were present too. What a fun morning (and the playlist was excellent). I then decided to take another holiday class because why not? It’s December. Although I did not expect to hear Roy Black’s “Leise rieselt der Schnee” on Eriks Holiday Ride. Haha, classic.

Tuesday

  • 20 min Focus Flow: For Runners – Denis (6/7/23) — ‘Favorites of 2023’ Stack Exchange/Personal Streak
  • 30 Min Bootcamp: UB – Callie (11/1/23) — Slay Bootcamp
  • 20 Min Holiday Ride – Ben (12/12/23) — Instructor Bingo
  • 20 Min Holiday Party Ride – Bradley (12/6/21)
  • 10 Min Holiday Full Body Stretch – Ross (11/30/23) — Stretch into the Holidays
  • 15 Min Sleep Meditation – Aditi (5/2/23)

I did the Yoga Focus Flow for my Stack Exchange and then joined Kristin for a 30-minute Upper Body Bootcamp. I felt Callie went kind of easy on us, but I was honestly fine with that. Ben’s Holiday Ride was a “mini” milestone for me (1150) and Melissa (1550), and Lindsay and Sherry joined for the celebration. Ben’s Peloton Christmas jumper cracked me up – I was hot just looking at him wearing a sweater on a ride, but it said “Together we go ho ho ho” on the front and that was everything. Haha. I added on another old holiday ride with Bradley for the heck of it, and then Tanja popped up on the Leaderboard during my Holiday Stretch with Ross. So good to see she’s on the mend.

Wednesday

  • 15 Min Pilates – Anna (10/31/23) — Core Snowball Tracker
  • 30 Min Holiday Ride – Robin (1213/23)
  • 30 Min Upper Body Strength – Callie — Lift those Snowballs
  • 10 Min Chest & Back Strength – Rad (10/30/23) — Lift those Snowballs
  • 10 Min Full Body Stretch – JJ (11/23/23)
  • 15 Min Evening Mobility – Matty (5/2/23)
  • 20 Min Sleep Meditation – Kristin (8/12/21)

I met with Sherry, Lindsay, and Melissa for Pilates and Robin’s holiday ride, which was a delight. I did not anticipate liking it that much.

Thursday

  • 20 Min Holiday Yoga Flow – Denis (12/9/20) — Stretch into the Holidays
  • 5 Min Core Strength – Rad (12/11/23) – Core Snowball Challenge
  • 30 Min Bootcamp: Full Body (Callie) 12/12/23 – Slay Bootcamp
  • 20 Min Holiday Ride – Bradley (12/20/23)
  • 10 min Full Body Stretch – Selena (12/12/23)
  • 20 Min Sleep Meditation – Anna (10/24/23)

I started my day with an old Holiday Yoga Flow with Denis, which was excellent. If you haven’t taken it yet, you should get on that (it’s from 2020 and might be purged soon). Lindsay and I then knocked out a quick core strength class before doing a Full Body Bootcamp and Bradley’s Holiday Ride. Bradley’s so funny. He cracks me up every single time.

Friday

  • 45 Min Pentatonix Ride – CDE (12/13/20)
  • 30 Min Holiday Soundtrack Strength Club – Callie (12/18/23)
  • 30 Min Kelly Clarkson Ride – Cody (12/21/23)
  • 30 Min Chloe Flower Holiday Yoga Flow – Aditi (12/21/23) — 450th class!
  • 10 Min Body Appreciation Stretch – Chelsea (9/27/23)
  • 10 Min Holiday Meditation (Kristin) 12/5/22
  • 15 Min Sleep Meditation – Kristin (5/23/23)

Tanja and I rode the Pentatonix ride in the morning. It’s an old holiday class with CDE from 2020 and I am afraid they will eventually purge it from the Peloton library. It’s such a fun ride though. I then joined Lindsay for her ‘birthday stack’, a fun holiday-themed strength class with Callie and a yoga flow with Aditi. Coincidentally, this was also my 450th yoga class milestone. In the afternoon, we traveled to Southern California for the holidays and I did a little holiday meditation during the flight.

Saturday

  • 10 Morning Meditation – Ross (12/9/23)
  • 10 min Core strength – Logan (10/10/23)
  • 10 Min Hip Hop Barre: Upper Body – Ally (8/9/23)
  • 30 Min Walk + Talk – Matty (12/13/23)
  • 20 Min Holiday Walk – JJ (12/7/23)
  • 15 Min Sleep Meditation – Ross (2/27/23)

I started my day with some meditation and strength training. Later, I ran some last-minute Christmas errands with Jon and in the afternoon, I walked around my mother-in-law’s neighborhood to look at the Christmas lights.

Sunday

  • 5 Min Pre-Run Warm Up – Adrian (12/4/23)
  • 30 Min NYC 5 Boro Run: Manhattan – Adrian (11/6/23) — ‘Favorites of 2023’ Stack Exchange
  • 5 Min Cool Down Run – Hannah F (10/11/23)
  • 10 Min Holiday Meditation – Aditi (12/17/22)
  • 10 Min Restorative Yoga – Kristin (11/8/23) — Stretch into the Holidays/Personal Streak
  • 20 Min Sleep Mediation – Anna (10/24/23)

I went for a little Christmas Eve morning run. It was so nice outside. I chose Adrian’s NYC run, which was on my ‘Favorites for 2023’ Stack Exchange. What a great run!

I chipped away at my trackers and am confident that I’ll finish them next week, but the Instructor Bingo was a fail. I took a lot of classes with instructors on my bingo card but didn’t coordinate well enough to actually get a bingo. Haha. It’s ok. I am not too concerned about it.

This week’s stats:

Bootcamp: 60 min

Yoga/Pilates/Barre: 115 min
Warm up + Stretching: 70 min
Meditation: 155 min

I hope you’ve all had a great pre-Christmas week. I am sure it was busy in many ways!

  1. We’ve had really nice weather here, too. I did a 4 mile run on Saturday and will head out for a run shortly now that it has stopped raining. We are having the weirdest Christmas weather. It was 54 yesterday!! It was probably -10 last year. This El Niño winter has been a nice break from the snow and cold but it’s weird to have rain on Christmas!

I did 3 Caroline Girvan workouts last week once I had recovered from covid. So overall it was one of my best weeks of workouts in a long time. But that is all due to me working from home all week. It’s so much easier to fit in workouts when I’m not leaving the house at 7 am.

Meet Christmas to you and Jon!!

  2. As usual, I love all the holiday classes! Denis was my favorite Peloton yoga instructor, so I’m sure that class is great. The Pentatonix ride was probably also awesome. I hope you’re having a wonderful Christmas (somehow I’m picturing you pedaling away furiously as I lounge on the couch drinking tea…) Enjoy the day and eat some cookies!

  3. Such a busy gal!! I need to check-out that Holiday Yoga with Denis…I’ve gotten away from yoga, and really need to get back to it. UGH…my body is so tight…
Hope you have a great Christmas, San!

  4. Merry Christmas! And so many bingos! So fun!

I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

  5. I hope you’re enjoying time with family. You’ll get you BINGO next month!

  6. Sometimes a little Denis yoga is just what you need. I hope you are enjoying your family time. I’m also trying to end the year with some Peloton milestones. Happy and merry to you!

  7. It’s so impressive, really. I was really struggling to fit in my puny workouts this week – the time just wasn’t there! Go you!

  8. Hallo Sandra,
Meine Weihnachtskarte an euch ist zurückgekommen! :( Ich hab die falsche (alte?) Adresse genommen. :(
Die mit der #3 Nummer. Wenn du noch die Karte haben möchtest, morse mich bitte an.

    Sorry about that.

  9. These holiday rides and walks and meditations sound lovely, San. What a fun way to work in your workouts. :) I am curious – who are the BCBabes? Is it a subset of the Streakers? Inquiring minds want to know.

    1. I like how thoroughly you read my posts and that you inquire :) I might have mentioned before, the hashtag #BCBabes was created by a small “subgroup” of Streakers who started doing Bootcamp Classes (Bike + Strength) together (therefore BC)… I started joining them for bootcamps/other classes here and there a while ago and then was “adopted” into their group :) It’s awesome because we our schedules align well and we can work out together often and hold each other accountable.

      1. And I like how you take the time to actually respond to my questions, so thank you! I love how you have made Peloton a true social experience. Another way of building community in a world that seems fixated on in-person interactions. They don’t work (well) for everyone, due to distance, preferences, lifestyle, etc., and so those of us who want/need to find alternatives do. These are our “third places”! (I loved that post from Engie.)
I keep thinking I should at least *try* the free Peloton app, but sigh… I am so stuck in my ways, my friend. Like concrete. :) You know me and routine!
Can’t wait to see where you take your workouts – literally and figuratively – in 2024. :) <3
