Last year, I jumped on the bandwagon and posted these little snippets to the universe. Don’t we all just have to put something out there sometimes?
Dear cancer – sorry for being blunt, but could you please f**k off? You’ve been bothering too many of my friends lately and I really don’t appreciate it.
Dear rain – we waited for you and welcome you, but please just bring a manageable amount to California this winter. We need you and are happy that you’re here, but we mostly want you as snow in the Sierras as a snowpack that will last into spring. Kthxbye.
Dear digital library – could you please not have ALL the books I have on hold become available at the same time? Awesome.
Dear creativity – nice to see you again. I’ve missed you.
Dear Universe – thank you for some good health news in my family. I am breathing a sigh of relief.
Dear November – it would be terrific if you could just take your sweet time. I am not quite ready for the holidays, which I love and anticipate, but I haven’t quite wrapped my mind around the fact that we’re 8 weeks away from 2018. That’s just crazy.
Dear fall – stay a while. It’s been lovely to have you around with sunshine and cooler temperatures. I’m looking forward to more fall runs and walks around the neighborhood.
Dear body – thank you for being healthy and strong. I appreciate that you haven’t given me too much trouble (just the occasional little ache or pain, which I can deal with). I am so happy that you enjoy our Sunday morning runs and that you’re willingly put up with my crazy schedule. I promise I try to treat you well this holiday season and not overeat on Christmas cookies.
Dear senators and representatives with a bit of common sense left – please do everything in your power to protect the people of America from this ridiculous administration. The last year has been so, so hard to watch and I am just so afraid of further damage that could be done to this country. Please put party politics aside and use your voice for the people that you represent. That is yourjob, and your only job, so do it right.
What letters would you like to put out into the universe today?!

November 11, 2017 at 9:00 amOh I just love this so much. Of the cancer :( yes…I’m so sorry to hear it has been making its way to your friends and am sending much love, light, and healing their way.
Also yes to everything you said in your last bullet about the current administration. Honestly, I hate what’s happening in this country but am bothered most that we can’t simply come together for five minutes to set aside our differences. That said, how the eff did we get here? :*( le sigh.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend and that you have some nice weather this weekend to inspire your runs (and creativity!).

November 11, 2017 at 3:52 pmYour last bullet point times one thousand!!! I am a committed liberal/democrat but I would like to think if a president of my party was as ignorant and dangerous as DT, I would put party aside! It has been a weird year. I’ve learned a lot about people this past year in regards to what they were willing to vote for and support. I have honestly lost some respect for some family, friends, and coworkers.

November 11, 2017 at 4:52 pmOh my, I have some friends who apparently voted for DT and I am just like “who are you????”.

November 11, 2017 at 6:06 pmWhy is it that library requests always become available at the same time? Suddenly, there are like 20 books you have three weeks to read…

November 12, 2017 at 11:55 pmLove this post. Might have to steal it as there are so many thoughts floating in my head.
I wished I had the library system you have. I only got the free amazon books and most are them are trash. But as I mentioned in my previous post I am on a personal quest to find the needle in the hay stack!
Cheers,

November 20, 2017 at 5:10 pmSame to our leaders in politics. I’m glad this last election went so well, especially here in Virginia. It helped restore a little bit of faith in American politics, but I’m still just so heartbroken by all the bullshit I keep seeing.

November 22, 2017 at 8:07 amI know, I feel the same way.

November 21, 2017 at 3:17 pmOh I hate Cancer too. A close friend has had a return of her breast cancer and things are not looking good. Oh I hate it! She is sweet and young and I want to scream!
I am now almost done with my Christmas shopping. I just have an afghan to finish for Savannah! The first thing I have ever created for her.
