As mentioned, I am participating Elisabeth’s F.I.G. Collective – Finding Joy in Gratitude this February where I will (be trying to) find something positive in every day. While I am worried right now and my heart is aching and refuses to believe that there is anything joyful to be found (just more bad news every day), my head knows that it is not true and there is always something to be grateful for every day. Here are my first seven days of February.
February 1
We’re finally back home and I am happy to be back in my own space and sleeping in my own bed. I am also hoping that this is the beginning of a month that involves no more health issues (mine or anyone else’s) or travel, and which is a little less chaotic (we’ll see about that. Not too optimistic. Sigh.).
February 2
I had a long overdue FaceTime call with Tanja today. We communicate regularly via email and WhatsApp, so we’re always up-to-date, but it’s nice to have a face-to-face conversation every once in a while.
February 3
I received a sweet postcard in the mail from Elisabeth and it truly couldn’t have come at a better time… and how lucky that I get to share this moment of joy with you this week. Thank you!

February 4
I did my first Power Zone Endurance ride in a while and I was so happy to be back on my Peloton. My heart rate is still a little high (to be expected when you take a break from cardio), but my legs felt good and I am just so damn happy to be pedaling.
February 5
It’s been raining this week (matching my mood), but today it was dry and the sun came out for a little while and I just stood on the front porch for a while with closed eyes letting the sunbeams hit my face.
February 6
I went to the office and commiserated with some co-workers about the state of the world (and our work place), but that’s not the joyful part of the day although it was good to be with people in person. The joyful part was watching the two baby owls outside my 4th floor office window for a while! :)
February 7
I finally got to do a Peloton bike bootcamp with the #BCBabes1 again.
Share a recent F.I.G. with me!

February 7, 2025 at 7:25 pmOh, baby owls!!! I LOVE THAT! I hope that February is calmer than January, in your personal and professional life at least. There’s no counting on the political.
I was so happy to have the rain, and the crisp clean air that it brought. I hope we have a wet, or at least damp, winter/spring.

February 8, 2025 at 5:31 amThere really is nothing like sleeping in your own bed after not, right?? I am also enjoying these glimmers in a heavy time <3 last night, my daughter and I were watching her favorite craft YouTuber and she grabbed my hand and whispered “someday, we’ll make this!” and it was just so sweet (if overly ambitious, haha!).

February 8, 2025 at 7:04 amLook at all those great figs! My biggest one is that I had a Galentines party yesterday and I am so grateful to have such an incredible group of women who have folded me into their group. I never take it for granted!

February 8, 2025 at 8:32 amBaby owls?!! That is a giant, delicious FIG.
I so agree about the relief of being back in my own space. Routine really helps me feel more grounded in unsettled times.
I’m so glad my postcard made it to California. I guess one of my overlooked FIGs would be the fact that Canada Post is up and running again.

February 8, 2025 at 11:28 amBABY. OWLS.
I know, every time I think I’ve regained some equilibrium, another monstrous event comes at me, and it’s hard not to just stand still and be soaked in dread. But it’s probably more important than ever to find the joy in these times.
Sometimes I think I only travel so I can have the experience of coming home and realizing how much I love it.

February 8, 2025 at 11:50 amElisabeth really picked the perfect time for her FIG collective. We all need it badly right now! Your Figs hit all the basics- the comfort of home, the feeling of a good sweat, and friendships. And sunshine! And baby owls! There are still good things to be found.

February 9, 2025 at 8:27 amBaby owls!!!!! That sounds wonderful.
And yes, being in your own space and sleeping in your own bed is wonderful.
Isn’t it amazing how restorative a little sunshine can be?

February 10, 2025 at 5:11 pmOhhh, baby owls. That would definitely make the list for me. So cute!
My recent FIG was spending time with Birchie – it was so great to introduce my slice of St. Pete to her!

March 1, 2025 at 11:45 amYeah for baby owls. Interesting though that they are breeding now. It seems early but what do I know about bird or owls.
