17: 2024 Weekly Run Down 46/52 – and the training continues

This week’s stats:

Running: 41 mi
Cycling: 5.8 mi
Bootcamp: 30 min
Strength: 60 min
Yoga/Pilates/Barre: 70 min
Warm up/Stretching: 45 min
Meditation: 50 min

I am linking up again for the Weekly Run Down with Kim and Deborah.

Usually, I take a week off running after a race, but since the 20-miler last weekend was “part of the training” and just a test race for the actual race that I am training for, there was no “taking time off” from running this week but continuing with the training plan.

Monday

  • 30 Min Sleep Meditation – Ross (6/25/24)

Luckily, Monday was a holiday (Veteran’s Day) and my rest day for the week and I took full advantage of it. I slept in, stayed in my PJs all day, and did nothing (other than drinking coffee, lounging on the couch, reading and blogging). I chose a long sleep meditation before bedtime.

Tuesday

  • 55 Min Easy Run + Strides
    • 10 Min Pre-Run Warm Up – Matt (5/21/19) — Road to 26.2
    • 45 Min Tempo Run – Robin (7/18/19) — Road to 26.2
  • 30 Min Strength for Runners – Rebecca (9/23/22) — Road to 26.2
  • 10 Min Focus Flow: Hips – Denis (12/19/23) — Personal Streak/Gratitude Jar

I completed an easy run with strides on the treadmill, and Tanja joined me for a 30-minute strength for runners class in the morning.

Wednesday

  • 5 Min Pre-Run Warm Up – Rebecca (7/17/24)
  • 10 Min Pre-Run Warm Up – Becs (5/21/19) — Road to 26.2
  • 60 Min Tempo Run at threshold pace
    • 60 Min Marathon Race Prep – Matt (7/18/19) — Road to 26.2
  • 10 Min Listening Party Yoga Flow – Nico (10/31/24) — Gratitude Jar/Personal Streak

A 60-minute run with 25 minutes at threshold pace. It was a beautiful morning and I took that run outside.

Thursday

  • 10 Min Morning Meditation – Chelsea (1/3/24) — Gratitude Jar
  • 30 Min Strength for Runners – Andy (9/23/22)
  • 10 Min Focus Flow: For Runners – Denis (4/10/23) — Personal Streak

I started my morning with a morning meditation in bed. What a great way to wake up. It was my cross-training day, so I did a strength for runners class with Andy (highly recommend! These strength for runners classes are fantastic) and a quick focus flow for runners.

Friday

  • 30 in Bootcamp: Upper Body – Jess (3/5/23) — Gratitude Jar/Fit Before Feast
  • 5 Min Cool Down Ride – Denis (11/14/24)
  • 10 Min Full Body Stretch – Kirra (10/21/24) — Self Gratitude
  • 30 Min Marathon Race Prep Run – Becs (11/15/24)
  • 10 Min Restorative Yoga – Kristin (3/19/24) — Personal Streak

I finally met up with the #BCBabes for a bootcamp in the morning – it’s been too long! – and we also did a full body stretch together for the Self Gratitude tracker (“Stretch with another Streaker”). Then I went on the treadmill for a quick 30-minute easy run. The training plan said 45 minutes but cut it a little short because of the extra bootcamp.

Saturday

  • 5 Min Pre-Run Warm Up – Rebecca (7/17/24)
  • 15-Mile Run
    • 45 Min Progression Run – Becs (6/13/24)
    • 30 Min Endurance Run – Matt (11/5/24)
    • 45 Min Endurance Run – Erik (10/15/24) — Gratitude Jar
    • 20 Min Metal Run – JJ (11/1/24)
  • 10 Min Cool Down Walk – Andy (10/21/24)
  • 5 Min Post-Run Stretch – Adrian (11/6/24)
  • 10 Min Restorative Yoga – Kristin (3/19/24) — Personal Streak

I was a little skeptical how this run would go after the race last week. 15 miles seemed short compared to the 20 miles, haha, but it’s still a pretty long run. Luckily, it was gorgeous fall weather – cool, but sunny – and my legs felt really good.

Sunday

  • 5 Min Pre-Run Warm Up – Rebecca (7/17/24)
  • 75 Min Easy Run + Strides
    • 30 Min 80s Run – Jon (11/16/24)
    • 30 Min 90s Run – Adrian (10/19/23
    • 15 Min 90s Pop Run – Jon (8/1/24)
  • 5 Min Post-Run Stretch – Becs (11/13/24)
  • 20 Min Restorative Yoga – Aditi (8/25/21) — Personal Streak/Serenity Sunday
  • 10 Min Kindness Meditation – Chelsea (10/16/23) — Serenity Sunday

It was another gorgeous fall day and even though I got out a little later than usual (I ran in the afternoon), I enjoyed this easy run a lot. I also joined the Streakers365 for Serenity Sunday – yoga and meditation – again.

  1. How fortunate that rest day fell on a holiday. A whole day PJs sounds fun specially after the work out you did or that were following.

  2. I’m glad you had a low key, day off on Monday. I’m jealous. After hosting the tailgate on Saturday, I could’ve used a day off. I feel like schools used to be closed for Veterans Day. I wonder if they didn’t because they had the election day off. Love the palm tree photo.

  3. Your training plan is working well for you and sounds like you are right on track! Cheers to another great week of training ahead

  4. Man, having a day off this week would’ve been nice! But soon it will be Thanksgiving and we will get several days off. I can’t wait to sleep in! Or at least until 7 when my kids get up – still such a treat to get up “late” and run when it’s light out. Have a good week!

    1. What meditation app are you usung San? I’m sure you have written about it before, but I’d be interested to know. I’m a huge fan of the app InsightTimer, that also tracks your streaks. I think I wrote a blog post about it once as well. :)

  5. Yay for such a relaxing rest day – it sounds like you squeezed every morsel of goodness from that experience. Just what you needed after such a crazy few months.

  6. Great job with your continued training! I had to laugh at your 30-minute bedtime meditation…I doubt if last more than 10 minutes before succumbing to sleep, LOL.

  7. Sounds like your training is going great! I love the description of your rest day on Monday- there’s nothing better than running a hard race, and then feeling justified in being totally lazy the next day.
I’m jealous of your cool temps! But we’re getting some colder weather this week (woohoo!)

  8. […] muscle gun, and only did a 30-minute sleep meditation before bedtime. Some of you commented on the Weekly Run Down post that they probably would have probably fallen asleep during such a long meditation and that might […]
