1: It’s NaBloPoMo 2022

I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2022

Hey blog friends, it’s time again for NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month), 30 posts in 30 days. Are you as excited as I am? I’ve been looking forward to NaBloPoMo for weeks!

2022 is my 17th year, if nothing else, at least I am consistent. I’ve been participating since 2006 when Eden Kennedy first launched the blogging challenge, and even though 2016 was the last year that NaBloPoMo was officially hosted by BlogHer, I’ve still been writing and participating every year in November.

I managed to post a reminder last month and was so stoked to find out that a few of you were already looking forward to participating again this year. Thank you for your excitement and for spreading the word. Maybe we can break double-digits this year (I think I counted 7 participants last year). This might be a small movement, but any extra person counts. Hey, hope always dies last!

I know that many of you who stop by here (thank you!) have not given up on blogging yet, in fact, there seems to be a new community of people who continue to blog – or recently started blogging – simply for the sake of writing (for ourselves), but also to connect with like-minded people and it’s been such a delight to be part of it.

I know, it’s a lot of pressure to blog every day. I hope you don’t feel any anxiety over it because it should be fun – first and foremost. Don’t forget that not every blog post has to be a deep, long, elaborate piece of writing. Sometimes sharing a picture, a quote, or some random thoughts of your day is all it takes to connect with your readers!

As I have previously mentioned, a little planning also goes a long way. While I will be posting every day in November, not every word will be written on the day that it will be published. And that is okay. If you feel like writing in spurts, take advantage and get the words on digital paper when you can.

I shared a few of my own best practices from my years of experience.

You’re very welcome to use any of my posts for inspiration if you want. They’re not all going to be originals and some posts are borrowed from other bloggers. If you skip a day, no big deal This challenge is just a fun way to connect with each other and maybe find a new friend in the process!

Come join us

I hope you’re excited to come here a little more often this month. Keep spreading the word! If you do decide to join us, use the hashtag #NaBloPoMo2022, so I can find you (and promote your posts!). I’ll also keep a running list of participants on my NaBloPoMo page.

Oh, and before I let you go check out the other participants’ blogs: I’d love to do an AMA (ask me anything) post in November, so this is your opportunity to ask me any random questions you might have and never had the chance to ask. Leave your questions in the comments!

  1. Oh, I love the asking the questions posts!
    1) How did you meet your husband?
    2) What’s your ideal Saturday afternoon?
    3) I know you don’t have any pets, but would you ever want one? What kind? If not, why not?
    4) What television shows/podcasts are must see/must hear for you?
    5) Do you ever reread books? What book have you reread the most?

    1. Thank you for participating again this year, NGS… and thanks for all the AMA questions :)

  2. I’ve gone back and forth so many times…I don’t have time to NaBloPo but I’m getting serious FOMO as I’m seeing everyone’s posts come out today….

AMA: what NGS asked about pets, just because it’s interesting. Have you ever had a pet? And I’d love to hear some more details about what you do for work if you’d like to share.

    1. No worries, we’ll get you one of these days, Birchie ;) so glad you’ll be following along… and thanks for the AMA questions :)

  3. I’m so excited about NaBloPoMo (I can never remember what order that goes in – sigh)! This is how I found your blog last year and I have loved reading along ever since.

    I LOVE AMA posts.
    1) If you could pick a dream job and have all the skills necessary to be proficient at it, what would that be? (e.g. if you selected “be a famous rockstar” you’d be able to sing/play an instrument etc, so there are NO limitations based on current location/age/ability).
    2) If you had to recommend a single item/product, what would it be? I’m curious if it would be a Peleton bike?
    3) If you could have glimpsed into the current reality of your life back when you were 15, what would you have found most surprising about your “now”?
    4) What is a go-to mood booster in your life?
    5) What’s the best life lesson you’ve learned in the last year?
    6) What’s your favourite song right now?

    1. I am SO EXCITED that you’re joining NaBloPoMo this year, Elisabeth. I know that you’ll do great (you’re such a consistent blogger as is!). Can’t wait to see everything you’ll put out there.

And thanks for the AMA questions. Looking forward to tackling them all :)

  4. Ooh I’ll have to think on questions. I’m drawing a blank right now, lol! Looking forward to seeing your posts! I have been kind of crummy about commenting on people’s posts this week because I’ve been doing too much blog reading on my phone, and I’m terrible at commenting from my phone!!! But excited to follow along. Oh- for a question, how about: What are you MOST grateful for in your life?? ;) (cheesy coming from me, right!? hahaha.) Also, if I were to plan a trip to Germany, where should I go??

    1. So glad to have you follow along, Kae… and thanks for all the AMA questions :)

  5. So excited for another round in the NaBloPoMo universe.
So looking forward reading all those great post.
    Here is a question:
    – What is the last thing you crafted?
    – What do you miss most about Germany (besides family and friends)?
I am sure I have more questions

    1. Woot woot, so excited you’re joining once again, Tobia… you know that by now I always expect you to participate and carry the torch with me, right? ;)

      Thanks for the AMA questions!

  6. I love the idea of NaBloPoMo and am going to try and come along, too. I never posted consistently before so I am curious how this is going to go for me ;)
My question: If you could live anywhere, where would you be?

    1. So wonderful to have you join this year, Meike! I am looking forward to learn much more about you :)

  7. Would you and J ever move back to Germany? Has your thoughts about becoming a citizen changed in the last several years w/ everything that has happened w/ the 2016/2020 election/how covid was handled/etc?

    1. Thanks for the questions, Lisa. I am looking forward to answer them all :)

  8. I have seen this challenge but have never participated. I have no idea what I would write everyday. Are there suggestions or are you on your own?

    1. There are no official suggestions, but I put out a list of blog ideas last year (https://theinbetweenismine-com.preview-domain.com/2021/11/01/1-nablopomo-2021/) and you’re always welcome to use other people’s post ideas, if you want to join in… nothing ventured, nothing gained ;)

  9. Ooh I was hoping to join this month? I filled out the form but I’m not sure if it disappeared into the internet. Usually November is the month when I spend too much time reading news online so I am filling my evening reading with blogs I like – I’ve been reading Elizabeth Frost for a while and that’s how I found you. I’m looking forward to reading all the daily posts.

This is a great challenge for me – I recently came back to blogging after a 9 year break. I’ve missed it a lot – and missed reading other blogs and meeting other bloggers. Looking forward to following everyone for the next month :-)

    1. Rachel, I am so thrilled you’re joining us this year… I have added your name/blog to the participant list. I am very excited to start diving into your blog and getting to know you :)

  10. Thanks for organizing the month! I’m feeling very inspired.
I like the AMA approach via a blog. I’ve really only ever seen it in IG stories so I’m excited to see how the format works in a blog post.

    1. So excited you’re joining us, Tierney! I’ve added your name/blog to the participant list and I am looking forward to getting to know you better this month!

  11. Wow! We have a big group this year! Thanks as always for organizing this. Elisabeth is really killing it with the questions (above.). I’ll have to think of some of my own!

    1. NaBloPoMo works because of people like you – thanks for joining again :)

  12. I did think about it! But I am going for the role of cheerleader :)

    1. We love cheerleaders :) Thanks Nicole!

  13. YAYAYA! I am so excited we’re finally in NaBloPoMo time! It’s going to be fun. Thanks to your fearless leadership, this group keeps growing!

Here are my questions for you:
    1) Why did you start blogging and what keeps you blogging all these years later?
    2) Who are your favorite Peloton instructors?
    3) What did you love and not love about owning a home?

    1. Thanks Stephany – NaBloPoMo is growing again because of people like you :)
Thanks for the questions. Looking forward to answering them.

  14. Wow, 17 years? Thanks for organizing it this year! Everyone else has great questions but I do have one. You mentioned in a comment that you almost became a teacher too. What happened? Why didn’t you?

    1. Thanks for joining this year, and for the question :)

  15. Oh, yay! I already have new bloggers to follow – thank you, San! As you know, I’m not participating but I will be reading along (waaaay behind the actual days the posts go live…) and commenting as I’m able. Love that you spearhead this each year – AND love the return to “traditional” blogging seen among the group of die-hards here. It seems to be growing, too – credit to you and others who have sustained the community! :)
