17: A few current fall favorites

I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2020

Once upon a time, I used to publish a monthly favorites list at the end of each month, but everything kind of stopped when the Coronavirus hit. It didn’t feel ‘right’ to keep posting the frivolous stuff for a while. However, I truly enjoy it when other bloggers share some of their favorites things, so I am bringing the format back this month with a few of my current fall favorites.

1) I mentioned before that I ordered some Stumptown Coffee* for Jon’s birthday last month and now we’re both ‘hooked’ again. Did you know that Target carries Stumptown now? It’s amazing because now I don’t have to pay for shipping anymore. Of course, I picked up another bag on my last bi-weekly shopping trip.

2) We had this simple, inexpensive Hamilton Beach Crockpot* for years and years and it hasn’t failed me yet. I just got it out to make a stew last week and the whole house smelled so nice the whole day and it was amazing to get up from my work desk in the evening knowing that dinner had already cooked itself. I see a lot of crockpot dinners happening again this winter. Send me your best recipes!

3) As mentioned last weekend, it’s that time of the year again when a warm Apple Cinnamon Steel-Cut Oats is the perfect breakfast to get me started in the morning. It’s ready in minutes and just so cozy and soothing when it’s still cold in the house in the morning. How do you like your oats?

4) I picked up this Apple Cinnamon Candle* at Target because apples and cinnamon is my favorite fall scent. This candle is not too fragrant but has a really nice, subtle scent.

5) During the same shopping trip, I also found this Fresh-spiced Apple Febreze* air freshener (do you see a theme here?) and had to buy it. We’re usually a little “stuck in our ways”, when it comes to scented household items in our house. We usually buy the relatively neutral “linen & sky” scent, but I am so glad I took a chance on this one, because both Jon and I love it. It’s a seasonal item, so we might have to stock up before the season is over.

6) I mentioned in my last Currently-post that our old microwave bit the dust and that we finally ordered a new one. And I couldn’t be more excited about this beauty* that perfectly matches my aqua Kitchenaid mixer. I have a thing for “teal” appliances and heating up my coffee milk in the morning just got this much more exciting. Haha.

7) Fuzzy socks made an appearance again this week when our temperatures suddenly dropped to overnight lows in the 30’s. There’s nothing worse than cold feet, am I right?

What is one of your favorite fall things?

* #notanad, This is not a sponsored post. I have not been compensated by the brand or anyone else for linking the websites.

  1. I love monthly favorites! There are so many random, simple things that can bring us joy.
That microwave is straight out of my dreams! So fun! You’ll have to share a picture!

    1. Right? I enjoy these posts immensely (posting them and reading them on other people’s blogs!)

  2. I have barely used my crock pot since getting an instant pot as I was typically gone for too many hours during the day to use it (some recipes don’t do well w/ extra cooking time, even if you program it to switch to warm after a certain point). But now that I’m WFH and heading into mat leave, I should start using it again! I do love my instant pot, though, and we sometimes use it 2-3 times a week!

I’m loving my smartwool socks. Cold weather is here to stay in MN so I am all about warm, cozy socks!

    1. I’ve heard good things about the Instapot, but I don’t know if I can justify yet another appliance (we don’t have enough space LOL)…. and since I am home most of the time now, the crockpot works great.

I’ve heard about the smart wool socks. Might have to look into them. I love my feet toasty! :)

  3. You are the second person to mention Stumptown Coffee today. Guess I need to get me some!

Very ambitious, posting every day. It’s a chore for me to post 2-3xWeek, lol!

    1. Give Stumptown a try. You won’t regret it ;)

  4. I love making my own apple cinnamon oatmeal, especially as the weather gets colder. I just use quick cooking oats, water, a sliced up green apple and lots of cinnamon. It always smells so good too.

I wish that coffee came in k-cups – I would love to try it!

    1. You could use a reusable k-cup and fill it with Stumptown coffee?! ;) Just a thought.

  5. That microwave is stunning! I also love teal :)

I’ve always enjoyed reading monthly favourites and yet I also stopped posting them a few months ago. I think I need to do another post on things that have brought joy during the month.

    1. Thank you – when we had to invest into a new microwave, I thought “why not make it fun?” :)

I’d love it if you posted some of your favorite things!

  6. Oh, I love your new microwave! How cute. And I’m all about socks and slippers these days. My feet are almost always cold – I am currently wearing fuzzy socks, with slippers. Yep, both at once, like a rock star. ;) I do like apple and cinnamon scented things in the Fall. It’s very relaxing.

    -Lauren

    1. I’d totally wear fuzzy socks and warm slippers at the same time (my slippers are Birkenstocks, so they’re not warm by themselves). :)

  7. Drooling over your new microwave! Teal is my favorite color and that microwave is PERFECT!

I bought a basalm fir candle from Bath & Body Works and I looooove lighting it every night. It makes my apartment smell so Christmassy!

    1. Oh, a balsam fir candle sounds really good for the holiday season too :)

  8. Oooh same!!! Please share any veggie crockpot meals if you have! I just made this last night and it’s delicious and so easy:

Also I love these favorites posts, too! Yay for new pretty teal microwave and cozy fall scents!

    1. Thanks for sharing the recipe, friend!

  9. Loving the apple cinnamon smell myself too. For me though it’s more a Christmas smell. I can hardly stand artificial smells like that it triggers a migraine so I usually stay clear if scented candles, detergent, room refreshers and co. But this sounds like a lovey theme you have going in your house.

  10. I am picky about scents, too… but you can’t go wrong with apple cinnamon :)

  11. When you find the right coffee… you just buy it. No questions asked. No judgment. :)
Also, fuzzy socks (often + wool slippers) are the best.
I wish I could find a plain cinnamon candle. I’m not much for fruity scents – other than citrusy ones – but oh, my, do I *love* the smell of cinnamon!
It’s definitely a cozier time of year now… I’m ready for it, despite COVID.

    1. Last year, I found a cinnamon-nutmeg candle at Marshall’s (or Ross)…. in case you might want to check there ;)

      1. Oooh, thanks for the suggestion – I love the smell of nutmeg, too. I actually have an older clove candle that I really like. It’s also kind of holiday-ish.
I wound up ordering a cinnamon stick one from Bath and Body Works. They had a buy-two-for-$20 and that sounded wonderful. I added one that, I think, is supposed to smell like a (real) tree? We’ll see. I need to do something since I don’t put up a tree or otherwise decorate! Goodness, I’m a stick in the mud… :)

  12. One of my fall favorites is actually a combination of things: a fall ritual, I guess.
I love leaving my pajamas on for a little longer on weekends, getting a fire going in our fireplace and sipping a mug of cocoa!
