I guess it’s officially fall now. This was my view on my Saturday run and although temperatures have been a little bit cooler, it still felt pretty much like summer. So, I’ve been busy trying to ignore that it’s technically fall, but when October comes around, I think there is no way to deny it any longer. This year, man… I have no idea where it went.
October is a fun month though. It’s apple season, we’re going to get the first rain, J’s birthday is coming up, and then there’s Halloween. What else?
+ I’ll be going on another field trip later this week (and next week. It was supposed to be this whole week, but due to unfavorable weather, we had to break it up into two pieces). I haven’t really been on any field trips all year, so why does it get all busy in the fall? Oh yeah, because the scorching summer temperatures are gone, that’s why.
+ I’ve started up the TMAC20 workouts again this morning, hoping to keep them up throughout the month (although I see the field work throwing me off my schedule again a little bit), but here’s to trying!
+ October is a busy birthday month. As mentioned above, it’s J’s birthday, then there are five people in my family with October birthdays and then there are a few more October babies among my friends). When’s your birthday?
+ I am hoping to find some time to do “fall things”: apple picking, visiting the pumpkin patch, and baking something yummy. I am taking suggestions.
+ Halloween. J’s favorite holiday. As you probably know by now, I am not a fan of scary movies (and I just learned that there will be a new “Halloween” movie this year – but nope, not for me!), but our neighbors put up an awesome The Nightmare before Christmas window decoration and I am sure I’ll be watching some Halloween kids movies (Hocus Pocus, anyone?) and check out the decorations in the neighborhood. Also, Halloween candy. Duh. (I just recently finished the leftover candy from last year, so it’s good timing. Ha!)
What’s going on with you in October?

October 1, 2018 at 8:40 amAww what a fun post and sounds as though you have a lot of great activities planned for this month! I love October. My mom and bestie have birthdays, too, and then of course Halloween — such a great season. I’m hoping to pick apples and pumpkins soon, too. Also I’ve never seen the Nightmare Bedore Christmas! I know!! I’ll get on that. Sounds like a cute window display though :) hope you are enjoying the season and the crisp autumn air. Xo

October 1, 2018 at 8:58 amI love October so much! You definitely have a lot of birthdays coming up. That’s what November is like for us. Mine and Nate’s birthdays plus a ton of family ones. I’m hoping to do a lot of Fall activities this month too. I can’t believe September went by without us really doing any!

October 6, 2018 at 10:02 amIsn’t it funny how some birthdays cluster within families? March and October are the busy birthday months for us.

October 1, 2018 at 2:03 pmSeptember is my busy birthday month, as my stepdad, nephew, aunt, and brother all have birthdays – as well as some friends.
October is going to be a busy one for me, as I have plans every weekend, eeks. Hopefully I can sneak in some low-key days within all the fall craziness! And HOPEFULLY, the weather starts cooling down. We’re still in the triple-digits here, sigh.

October 6, 2018 at 10:04 amSounds like October will be busy for you as well… I do hope you get some downtime in between plans, because I know how much you need it (I am the same way – I love plans, but I also need time to recharge in between!)

October 1, 2018 at 6:45 pmOh, I love October! I’ve gotten better with scary movies, but I still really love the kid’s Halloween movies like Hocus Pocus. I hope to do all the fun fall/Halloween things this month, but we’ll see if I can fit it all in. haha

October 1, 2018 at 10:41 pmSounds like you are going to have a full month! I wish I knew people who decorated for Halloween. Where I used to live, there were a few people in the neighborhood that went all out for the holiday, including setting up huge haunted tents that kids had to go through to get candy. It was so much fun. Hope you have a great October!

October 6, 2018 at 10:05 amI have to admit, I don’t do much decorating for Halloween myself, but I always enjoy other people’s efforts ;)

October 3, 2018 at 8:34 amThat is a lot of October birthdays!! Mine is in February. We don’t have any family birthdays this month or in NOvember. Everyone is kind of scattered through the rest of the year.
I’m glad that fall Is here as I was ready for cooler temps. It’s probably my favorite season as the changing leaves are so beautiful and I love fall foods. I just hope we have a nice long fall. Sometimes winter can arrive as early as late October/early November and I’m not ready for that kind of weather!
I’m usually not a big Halloween person but I am looking forward to celebrating Paul’s first Halloween, even though he’s too young to enjoy it. We got a cute Hedgehog costume for him. Hopefully it’s not too big on him but if it is then oh well! We are having our annual pumpkin carving party at the end of the month so I’m excited for that! I think it’s our 5th year of hosting it.

October 6, 2018 at 10:07 amI do hope you get a nice, long fall in Minnesota! I know that winter often comes early for you guys. I heard that Canada had their first snow already! I can imagine that Halloween will get a new meaning now that you have a child which will – undoubtedly – enjoy Halloween :) I can’t wait to see a picture of Paul in his hedgehog costume! (CUTE ALERT!)
