Hello August

Here’s to another new month. I am expecting August to be pretty low-key. We don’t have too many things coming up this month, which is good because September is going to be a little bit crazier. But you know, the good kind of crazy.

There are a few things going on this month, though:

+ I’ll be jumping right back into half marathon training, kind of picking up where I left off during my last training cycle, so to speak, to make up for missed workouts and the forced 2-week break. Very likely that I’ll be running another half in September, so I better keep at it.

+ I also really want to (even more) step up my cross training game. Do I sound like a broken record to you? Yeah, to me too. I hope, at some point it will stick.

+ I am planning some girl time with my friend Susi. Might be happening as early as this coming weekend. I sometimes wonder where the weeks go… we haven’t seen each other since the middle of May! Unacceptable!

+ I probably going to work some overtime this month, because I am planning to take off some extra days in September (without using any of my precious and hard-to-come-by vacation time). But we’ll be having some visitors and I am so excited! Hooray!

+ I am feeling my creative juices come back a little bit and I am terrified of scaring them away with a wrong move… but, maybe this will be the month I actually start a craft project again. Time will tell.

What’s up with you in August?

  1. Good luck with the half marathon training! And girl time is so needed. I got to have dinner with some friends on Sunday, and it was wonderful. Hope you get to your craft project too!

    1. Thank you :) and yes, girl time was awesome!

  2. I am the same way with cross training… I just can’t get in a good groove with it! One of these months… :) Fun, what’s your craft project going to be?

    1. Haha… one of these months! (I downloaded Runtastic Results to see if I will stick to cross training with more of a schedule ;)).

I hope to be working on some crochet projects and cards for my shop. What are you working on?

  3. I’m EAGER TO READ YOUR MARATHON TRAINING AND YOUR CROSS-TRAINING POSTS. I LOVE ANY AND ALL FITNESS RELATED POSTS.
yOU KNOW, I ENVY RUNNERS. I WISH I WAS A RUNNER AND HAD THE ENDURANCE, BUT I DON’T. pLUS, RUNNING SEEMS BORING TO ME AND if I CAN’T LOVE IT OR ENJOY IT, THEN WHAT’S THE POINT, RIGHT?

sO I LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH YOU, OKAY? :)

I’m SO LOKING FORWARD TO SOME GIRL TIME, TOO. iT’S GOOD FOR THE SOUL AND ABSOLUTELY NEEDED FOR OUR OWN WELLBEING. :)

    1. Girl, I was never a runner (always a team sports player!) and only picked up running a couple of years ago… if I can do it (and enjoy it), you can too :) Just sayin’.

  4. Woah, did not mean to leave a comment in caps. Sorry love.

    1. Haha… that was awesome :) I am like “why is she yelling at me?” LOL

  5. Good luck with training! I need to get back into the groove of moving and exercising too. Yay for some girl time. Always needed.

    1. Thank you. :)
      Girl time is the best.

  6. Girl time is always a good thing! I always look forward to my girl time too! And yay for training, especially if you’re doing another half in September! That will come up quick!

    1. Eek, September is just around the corner! :)

  7. I hope you have a great August and achieve all your goals! I can’t belive there’s only one month left of summer.

    1. Thank you…. I can’t believe summer is almost over either. Time flies!

  8. That is fun that you have visitors coming again! I love hosting people and showing them around, especially now that we have a guest bedroom!

August is filling up quickly for me. I have a full weekend of plans this weekend as we are hosting dinner for 2 different couples on Friday and Saturday. The Saturday night plans are with my Julia Child aunt and uncle. We are testing 3 different recipes for Julia Child Night which is in September this year! Phil’s birthday is this month and we are going on our first camping trip on the north shore of Lake Superior. I am sure excited because I have always wanted to try camping but never had the equipment. We registered for camping stuff for our wedding and got everything we need. There’s lots of great hiking in the area where we are camping so it’s going to be a super fun weekend! Then later in the month I am going to host a birthday dinner for Phil at our house. He does not like lots of attention around his birthday but his friends always want to do something and it gives us a reason to get together.

    1. Wow, your August is filling up quickly, but it all sounds like fun! Keep up your shouldless days though ;)

  9. Good luck with your training!

We’ve got a pretty relaxing August planned, which I’m so thankful for. We’ll be spending next weekend with a small group at a friend’s cabin, then we’re travelling to BC for the last week of the month to visit J’s mom. I’ve been feeling really stretched and overwhelmed with work lately (summer is a crazy busy time for my organization) so being able to step away for a week will be really, really nice.

    1. Oh, that sounds like a fun getaway! Have so much fun!
