Christmas seriously snuck up on me this year. I know, I know, it comes around at the same time every year, but I seriously don’t know how it is already here in less than two weeks. Christmas time is my favorite time of the year and I definitely try to enjoy it as much as possible.
Here’s a list of things that I want to do this holiday season. Some of it, I have already done, am in the process of doing or am planning to do when we’re in Germany.
★ Get my Christmas Cards written and sent out. I’ve been working on this for a couple of weeks and need to finish it this weekend, because most of the cards need to get out on Saturday.
★ Finalize my Christmas list. I’m pretty much done with my Christmas shopping and my list ist nearly complete. I just have to get a few little things this weekend and then I am set.
★ Watch some classic holiday movies. It’s on of my favorite things to do during the holiday season and so far I was able to catch “The Holiday”, “Home Alone” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” on TV. I am hoping to sneak in a couple more this weekend.
★ Go ice skating with my niece and nephew. My sister and I have been ice-skating since we were little and we usually went once or twice each winter, because it’s fun! We haven’t gone in a few years, but this year we talked about going ice-skating with my niece and nephew for the first time and I think it’s such an awesome idea!
★ Bake some Christmas cookies. (done!) I didn’t have much time to bake this year, but I baked some cookies to give my co-workers for Christmas which was a good opportunity to make a batch for ourselves, too.
★ See a Christmas theater performance. We went to see “An Irish Christmas” on Thanksgiving weekend and it was just perfect to start off the holiday season!
★ Decorate the tree at my parents’ house. Traditionally, in Germany you don’t get your Christmas tree until shortly before Christmas and it won’t be decorated before Christmas Eve morning. J will be getting the tree with my Dad and I will be decorating it – as always! One of my favorite parts of our Christmas tradition!
★ Take a deep breath and enjoy all the season has to offer! I want to pause, take a sip of hot chocolate, walk around the neighborhood and admire the Christmas lights and just marvel at the magic of the season! I want to enjoy Christmas cookies, Christmas coffee and tea specialties, Christmas decorations, Christmas music, and whatever else you can think of.
What’s on your to-do list for the next few weeks?

December 13, 2013 at 8:54 amI’m like you: I love Christmas! I’ve crossed a lot off my list, too, but there’s still a lot I want to do, like driving around to see Christmas lights and going to see The Nutcracker Ballet. :)

December 15, 2013 at 10:09 amOh, I need to go ice skating too! Although that may not happen before Christmas. Maybe for my birthday (which is a week after New Year’s).
I still have to write Christmas cards, bake more cookies/make treats, and finish shopping. Hopefully I’ll find time this week for all of this!
