Awkward & Awesome

AWKWARD

  • Crazy mad at the postal service for taking so freaking long to deliver a package to my friend in Germany. It’s been 6 weeks. What gives?
  • Being completely freaked out that I might have brought home a tick from field work yesterday. (I was warned that I should check myself for ticks when I get home. I didn’t find any, but felt like things were crawling on me all night.)
  • It really bothers me when someone completely ignores my messages (especially when I try different routes of communications). I get that sometimes a message can be lost, eaten by the Internet, misrouted, overlooked or simply forgotten, but when you don’t respond to multiple of my messages, I can’t help but take it personally.
  • (Quite a) bit disappointed in – and a little speechless about – the outcome of the recall elections in Wisconsin.
  • How is 2012 almost half over already?

AWESOME

  • Coffee and Real Simple magazine ♥
  • A new address stamp that I ordered a while ago through “Pick your plum” and which arrived yesterday.  Love their stuff and their great deals!
  • Clothes shopping for my niece and nephew ♥ I have so much fun browsing the kids’ section in every store. Also, people constantly ask my sister where she got this shirt or those shoes and usually her answer is “My sister send it from California”. Heh.
  • A day of field work. It’s so nice to get out of the office every once in a while and to do some hands-on work in the field at the sites that I usually just get to see as a 3D model on the computer. I love how my job combines working with your hands and working with technology!
  • Blogger Brunches (and subsequent trips to Ikea). That pretty much sums it up.
  • Reading on my nook! I just love it. I never thought I’d be that excited about an e-reader ♥ but I am. If only the books that I want to read wouldn’t have long waiting lists at the library.
  • Today is my Friday!
  • We’ll be heading to the East Coast in THREE weeks. Cue the happy dance! I can’t wait to see our friends in CT, visit the lake at which J spent many summer when he was a kid, and – last but not least – visit “the place to be”, Boston, and finally get to meet some more dear friends in person! :)

  1. A visit to the East Coast! I’m in MA and RI- you should totally stop in! :)

  2. Enjoy your trip! Safe travels friend! Also, what exactly is your job? Sounds interesting :)

  3. I LOVE Boston! We used to go on road trips to Boston once or twice a year when I was in university. Take lots of pictures :)

  4. Just admit it, you’re waiting in line for 50 Shades of Grey! =)

You’re going to have so much fun in Boston – it’s a great place to visit (though, I wouldn’t ever live there if I can help it!).

  5. Oh I love the Awkward/Awesome posts, those are always fun. I’m currently annoyed with the postal service for a package I sent to Illinois 3 weeks ago, it hasn’t arrived. Grrrr!

Great picture, my kind of awesome!

  6. This might sound extremely weird but… Your coffee looks AMAZING in that picture. I actually need to go make myself a coffee just by looking at that one. What kind is it?

That really sucks that it’s taking so long to get a package to Germany, 6 weeks?! That’s just crazy. But yay for vacations and blogger brunches!

  7. reading and coffee and trips sound like the absolute best, lovely.

  8. I wish the waits were shorter for e-books, too. Sometimes there is no wait for the physical book, but there is a wait for the e-book!

Awkward: Any encounters with the guy I am going to be sitting with at work. Seriously not excited to move desks.

Awesome: NOT HAVING TO STUDY. :)

  9. I think it’s so neat of you to buy clothes for your niece and nephew! Leonie’s aunt loves doing that for her as well! So sweet!
I get what you mean about people not responding…hate it, but I think we’ve already discussed this one…haha
    Have a wonderful weekend!
    Hugs xxx

  10. I started reading your blog recently. I just wanted to say you have a lovely blog and I have enjoyed reading it.

  11. Exciting that you’re coming to the east coast!

I have the same problem with someone ignoring my messages recently.. it’s so annoying.

  12. I love you.

IKEA trips with you are the best!

I have some ideas for that communication issue, we should talk soon!

  13. Ah, that sounds great. A trip to the East Coas, lovely.
Take loads of pictures and sho them to us please.
Do you meet up with Uli?

  14. What a great list, and did you realize your awesome is longer than your awkward? THAT is awesome! I don’t know why your package is taking so long. Did you send it the super slow boat method? I sent a package home from South Africa and it took 3 months. It was horrible because I had food (jerky) in there that went bad by the time it arrived! But that is South Africa! The US should be more on it than that!

  15. Three cheers for your East Coast trip! It sounds like you’re going to have an absolutely wonderful time and I can’t wait to hear more about it!
