Warning: this post is going to be photo-heavy.
Besides spending the 4th of July weekend with my friend Susi, I also did something completely for myself… it involved about an hour of driving, dinner for one at a local diner and finding my way to the HP Pavillion to see …
I hadn’t originally planned to go and see them. It was a totally spontaneous decision, but I am sooooo glad I went. Seriously, you can make fun of me all you want, but this was one of the. best. concerts. I’ve ever been to. I obviously was there to see NKOTB and wasn’t particularly excited to the see the Backstreet Boys (I don’t dislike them, but I’ve never been a fan either), but I have to say – seeing those two groups of boys grown up men perform together was absolutely amazing!
I dare say, some things most certainly get better with age!
I was lucky enough to see them once before during their comeback tour in 2008. As you might recall, J went with me that time and lo and behold, even J thought that their show was absolutely fantastic. I can only say, they were able to step it up a notch.
I had an absolute blast. I was singing and dancing and reminiscing and got a whole slue of goosebumps throughout the evening!
If you get the chance (and there are many more tour dates left!), do yourself a favor and go see them. You won’t regret it. I promise.

July 11, 2011 at 5:23 amOk, so where is the “jealous” button when you need one? I checked the tour page and they are NOT coming to Germany!! I know a few friends from the US and Canada who went to see them and said it was great. I would love to because I used to be a fan of both groups *blush* and went to see NKOTB as a teen (think it even was my first concert and I was 14). But even if they would come to Germany I doubt that hubby would go with me…

July 11, 2011 at 5:52 amAh, how fun! I saw the BSB last summer at an outdoor venue and it was cheesy and ridiculously fun to hang out with my adult girlfriends and reminisce about our teeny bopper years. Glad you had fun too!

July 11, 2011 at 6:14 amawww, donnie is still really hot. while i’m not (and never have been) as crazy an NKOTB fan as you are, i did see them in concert back in the day and think it’s cute how you enjoyed the show. way to go treating yourself! xoxoxo

July 11, 2011 at 6:18 amI was a hueg BSB fan growing up – I was the type who would drive 15 hours to see them two provinces over because they never came any closer than that to where I lived. I’ve seen them in concert so many times … Nathan came to a concert with me back in 2008, right after we got married – he was embarrassed to be there (the lady scanning tickets told him he was Boy #13 through her gate, lol) but he thought it was a good show :) They’re here this week but I didn’t get tickets. It’s a lot harder to take off and go to concerts now that I have a little one – and my husband is the only one who could possibly be convinced to go with me! Glad you had a good time :)

July 11, 2011 at 6:49 amSeeing this makes me squeal with excitment. Gah, I love New Kids, foreva!! I also have never been a BSB fan, but it sounds like a fantastic pairing.
I’ve been to 2 shows at HP and had a blast! Glad you did too :)

July 11, 2011 at 8:26 amI was a huge BSB fan for a few years during high school but you know what’s weird, I never even *heard* about NKOTB back then! Of course now I know who they are but I only ever realized who they were when they started their comeback. :P Also, while I do enjoy BSB songs (and other music from that time) randomly popping up on my iPod, my taste in music has changed so much that I can’t imagine going to a show now…
But I’m so glad you had such a great time! What a great treat! :)

July 11, 2011 at 1:03 pmAaaaw, girl. So cool that you went!! Yay for teenage boyband love!! I would do that for Robbie, too. :)
And really, there is nothing wrong with some good ole popmusic, I guess. Also, I totally believe that the show was a blast – after all they’re total pro’s at what they do!
Sometimes an explosion full of fireworks, good music, dancing, singing AND handsome men is just what a girl needs, right?
Happy week. XOXO.

July 11, 2011 at 1:14 pmOh, my! I used to love Donnie SO much as a teenager! I’d always dreamt fo traveling to Boston (from Argentina) to meet them. Now I’m here, well, in California and haven’t bought tickets for their shows :/. The VIP passes sold out and I didn’t want to settle for their concert only … Maybe the next time.
I’m glad to know you had a great time! ;)
Have a colorful week!
Miki.

July 11, 2011 at 8:03 pmI am so glad that you went and such a fun time. I saw NKOTB eons ago. It was actually the first concert my friends and I were allowed to attend without parents (I think we were in the 8th grade and it was a small arena). Did you buy a t-shirt?

July 12, 2011 at 7:19 pmI saw them a few weeks ago and it was fantastic! I told myself I was going for NKOTB because I did not get to see them in the 90s but when BSB came out? I was 13 years old again.

July 19, 2011 at 12:34 pmI just KNEW they were going to come to Jacksonville (we have a pretty big arena). Needless to say, I was bummed realizing they wouldn’t be close enough for a trip. Bummer. Glad you enjoyed the concert!
PS BSB for life!
