1: NaBloPoMo 2025 – The Five Things Edition

Hey, hey friends! It’s that time again! NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month)is here and we’ll be attempting to write 30 posts in 30 days. I hope you’re as excited as I am.

This is my 20th year of NaBloPoMo. In 2006, Eden Kennedy first launched the blogging challenge, and even though 2016 was the last year that NaBloPoMo was officially hosted by BlogHer, I’ve still been participating in – and more recently, unofficially hosting – the challenge every year in November.

I know it can add some pressure to blogging to post every day, but I also know that an annual temporary challenge like that can reignite a lost blogging mojo (and boy do I need some serious reignition right now!).

I know people are love-hating or hate-loving NaBloPoMo and trust me, I myself know the overwhelming feeling of not just blogging every single day for a month, but also trying to keep up with everybody else’s blogs. I’ve had a hard enough time throughout the year to do both and I am not pretending that we are “out of the woods” with the craziness of 2025 yet.

So, here is what I came up with: to make things a little easier (mostly for myself), I decided to loosely follow a “Five Things”-themed NaBloPoMo this year. I will keep most of my posts short and sweet – hopefully doable for me and digestible for you. (Also, feel free to skip or just skim the posts if it gets too much!)

You can generally blog about whatever your want, there are no official prompts that you have to follow, but you can also join me and adopt the five things theme (here’s the list of Five Things prompts). There is also the official NaBloPoMo2024 Blog Post Ideas list, graciously compiled by Engie last year, which you can also use for inspiration. I will link to both lists on the NaBloPoMo page for your reference.

COME JOIN US!

Either way, I’d be excited if you joined me again this year. I’ve been doing NaBloPoMo for too long to just let it slip.

The count is up to 15 participants (woot!) an I hope you’re excited about this month of writing and connecting! Keep spreading the word! If you do decide to join us, please sign up here, so I can add you to the running list of participants on my NaBloPoMo page.

Oh, and before I forget. I am opening up my Ask San Anything form again. Leave me any (random) questions you might have for me and I’ll post a round-up with my answers!

And now, go and check out the list, and make a new friend :)

I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2025

  1. I had absolutely forgotten about collating that list of topic ideas. Your memory and organization is amazing! Do you want to come and organize my life?

    1. Haha. I am just good at looking at my archive, that’s all. ;)

  2. YAY! I am in again– just filled out the form :)

  3. It’s my favorite time of year! I think the “5 things” theme is brilliant, and am going to follow it- not entirely, but loosely- myself. Let’s do this!!!

    1. Yay, Jenny! Let’s do this.

  4. Woot woot! It’s back. Hard to believe it’s Nov. 1st. I’m not sure how I’ll juggle this this year as I have a lot going on everyday life, but I’m gonna give it a whirl. My goal is short posts. I have several stories that I’ve not shared yet, so I’m thinking I’ll start there.

    1. It *is* hard to believe that it’s November 1 but I am so happy you’ll be joining us again this year, Ernie!

  5. So excited we are here again.
And a 20th anniversary for you. So amazing. I do’t even know what my count it. But I think it’s close to ten by now.

    1. Tobia, I am so excited you are here because you’ve definitely one of the people who have helped keep NaBloPoMo alive!

  6. Well, I’m not exactly consistent with my goal of once a week. But, I’m going to give this a try! I used to love BlogHer! So, I’m excited to do a little retro connection.

    1. Welcome Sue! So glad you’ll be joining us. Looking forward to getting to know you!

  7. For me, it’s not too difficult to come up with blog posts every day, it’s the reading and commenting. That wasn’t a real issue back when it was blogher, because there were SO MANY participants, one would never try to keep up. But I love this time of year, and I’m going to do my darndest!

    1. You’ve definitely been very consistent with your blogging lately and I have no doubt you’ll do great!

  8. Thanks for hosting this! I signed up :)

    1. Welcome Sam! Glad you’re here!

  9. Year seventeen for me! I don’t find it all that hard to post every day because I lift all my restrictions on how intelligent or even coherent the post has to be. I’ve had more luck making and keeping new blog friends with your set-up – the BlogHer one, it seemed like I would find someone fun and they would almost inevitably stop blogging shortly afterwards.
I have a list of drafts, but I usually end up looking at them and wondering what the hell I was thinking, so I’ll keep this list in mind.
My computer keeps disconnecting, so I’m not sure if my sign up went through – will do it again, if there’s a duplicate that will be why.

    1. Damn girl, I knew you were one of the long-haulers! So glad you’ll be joining once again!

    1. Thanks for following along, Birchie! How is retirement treating you? ;)

  17. November snuck up on me and I’m already behind. I blame it on the World series (and now that the Jays lost in heartbreaking fashion, I have a space to drown in my written sorrows …). Happy to read and meet others, hope I can keep up!

    1. Welcome back, Karen! Thanks for joining again! :)

  21. I was so worried you weren’t going to do this, and nobody would have blamed you with the craziness of 2025! I’m glad you’re spearheading it once again. :)

    1. Thanks my friend! 2025 has been batsh*t crazy, but if I am not doing NaBloPoMo, what am I even doing? ;)
