Tuesday Topics: What are your favorite non-running or non-fitness hobbies?

Let’s talk about all the things we like to do when we’re NOT running. I, for one, have a lot of non-fitness related hobbies. Too many, if you ask me.

I’ve always been someone with tons of hobbies. As a kid/teenager, I wanted to try EVERYTHING (and I also tend to not be a quitter, so instead of dropping one hobby for another, I’d usually just pile them on.)

Boredom? What dis?

I probably have about 3-4 competing interests at any given time and often can’t decide which should take priority at that particular moment. Sometimes I will start one thing, only to switch over to another half and hour later.

In no particular order, here’s what I love to do in my free time:

Blogging – surprise! If you’ve been around for a while, you know that I’ve been blogging for a long time and I am not intending to quit any time soon.

Traveling – I love to travel, even though I don’t always get to travel as much as I want. (Who does?) I still count it as a hobby, because I do try to get out exploring whenever I can.

Reading – I’ve been that kid that always had a book attached to their hands. I went through phases where I didn’t read as much as I wanted to, but I am happy to say that I’ve established a pretty solid reading habit in recent years.

Knitting/crocheting – I learned to knit/crochet when I was young and I am so happy about it. It’s such an awesome activity to relax and wind down.

Crafting/Card-making – I’ve always loved making stuff with my hand and I’ve been making cards (for all occasions) for years and years. You might know that I did turn my hobby into a little side hustle a few years ago (but it really is just a hobby, I don’t rely on that income by any means).

Baking/Cooking – Is there anything more satisfying than creating something delicious to eat?

I am sure I could come up with more things I like to do, but those are the things I’d consider my main hobbies. So many things to do, so little time. Am I right?

What are your favorite non-running hobbies?

I am linking up again with  Kookyrunner and Zenaida  for Tuesday Topics.

  1. My family is my hobby. :)
No seriously after working 40+ hours per week and taking care of a 5 year old there is hardly time to squeeze in some running. But if there is time left I enjoy gardening!

    1. I can imagine that your free time is very limited ;)

  2. I love love love to read and hang out with dogs and also my friends. Are those good hobbies? I enjoy cooking and am hoping to get into gardening this spring :) Loved reading your hobbies here today!

    1. Those are great hobbies – pets and friends are so important! :)

  3. I love reading, shopping, and blogging too. I wish I knew how to knit or crochet. I tried to learn, but I just don’t have the coordination or patience. I also love dancing, watching movies, and drawing.

    1. I am so glad I learned to knit/crochet as a child because I think I wouldn’t have the patience to “practice” if I had to learn it now…

  4. I would love to learn how to knit. It seems like it would be such a relaxing activity.

    1. It really is… have you ever tried it?

  5. Reading and TV are my hobbies. :-) I relax when I do those things.

I used to crochet when I was a kid. I remember one of my teachers would stay after school during the week for us girls to crochet. I think I also learned from her?

    1. You should pick up your crochet hook again :)

  6. I also learned to knit and crochet when I was a kid, and have made many sweaters, scarves, wrist warmers, hats and ponchos over the years. It’s SUCH a relaxing and creative way to pass the time (when I actually HAVE the time LOL).

    1. Yes, I agree, knitting/crocheting is so relaxing… I usually pick simple patterns so I can do it in front of the TV :)

  7. Oooh yes, reading is a big hobby for me. I’ve always been a reader, and it’s something that makes me extremely happy. I like to scrapbook, but I need to get back into it. I do like writing and blogging, and I don’t see myself stopping that anytime soon!!

    -Lauren

    1. I used to be into scrapbooking but haven’t done a scrapbook in a long time. Do you keep up with it?

  8. Reading is definitely my #1 non-fitness hobby. I was worried I wouldn’t get to do it as much after our son was born but his birth didn’t seem to impact my reading. I have learned that I will always make time for reading! Besides that, I love to travel (rarely happens anymore) and cook. I used to crochet and knit but those hobbies have fallen by the wayside since having Paul. I am sure I’ll get back to them someday, though!

    1. I love that you can still fit in reading :)

  9. you sure do have a lot of hobbies! I also love to cook and find it very relaxing. I love finding new ways to make my favorite foods healthier.

    1. I love that you love cooking :) it’s a good hobby to have because then you also prepare healthy food for yourself :)

  10. I’ve been thinking about my hobbies lately, mostly after friends talking about being bored and such. I’m never bored! I have so many hobbies, haha. Between reading and my blog and writing my novel and travel… my problem is finding the time to get it all done!

    1. Haha. I am never bored either… there is always something to do :)

  11. I never really knew what to put down when asked what my hobbies are but I guess it would be photography, reading, traveling and I would love to make more time for jewellery making, sewing and painting.
    Cheers, Tobia

    1. I see, you also want to do ALL THE THINGS :)
