stoked about finishing the 1st half marathon in San Francisco on Sunday! It was such a fantastic weekend in the City! Recap to follow!

loving the vibe from this weekend, seeing so many runners in one spot. It was so inspiring and fun!

wearing skirts and sandals, because it’s summer!

watching nothing in particular. I am like the LEAST up-to-date person when it comes to TV series and shows. I just don’t spend much time watching TV these days. Oh, I guess, besides baseball. ALL THE BASEBALL.

looking forward to having my cousin and his girlfriend visit in a few weeks, and

planning a couple of short trips while they’re here! Yay!

wondering when this political circus is going to stop giving me anxiety. I am not an anxious person usually.

listening to NPR. I wish I had something more exciting to tell here every month, but the truth is, I don’t listen to a whole lot of stuff these days (besides the radio on my commute) and the same old playlist during my runs (when I decide I need music, which lately, I have often forgone).

reading Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. Enjoying it, but not sure I am getting the hype quite yet.

making more homemade popsicles. These are so good, you gotta try them! I made a different badge following this recipe for basic no-churn vanilla ice-cream (minus the sweetened condensed milk because I think cream is ‘sweet’ enough already) and just added some strawberry swirl into the mix. So good!

eating all the salads. It’s summertime, what else do you expect?

drinking lots of water — or at least trying to!

hoping that my Mom’s upcoming surgery will be going well. She had to have kidney surgery last summer and this is kind of a follow-up procedure and I just hate being so far away from family when things like this happen. Please send all good vibes her way.

needing more hours in the day. I want to read, I want to blog, cook dinners, go for a walk, watch the news, knit, sit in the backyard. There’s just not enough time to do it all.

  1. Sending all the positive vibes your moms direction!!! Good Luck Mom San :)

    1. Thank you friend <3

  2. I gave Station 11 a try but couldn’t get into it.

    1. It was a good read, but definitely didn’t live up to the hype for me.

  3. I am sending you good vibes for your mom’s surgery! I hope it all goes well! It’s always nerve wracking to have a family member go through surgery and not be close by!

I’m over this political circus as well and I don’t have much hope of it getting better. I’m so embarrassed to be an American right now. I know I am very lucky to live in this country but I can’t believe that I live in a country where Trump is president. And no one can seem to control him or his tiny tweeting hands.

I read and liked Station Eleven but I didn’t LOVE it. I’m not a huge post-apocalyptic person, though, so I think that’s part of the reason I didn’t love the book as much as others. I’m glad I read it, it’s just not a book I would widely recommend.

    1. Thanks so much for the well-wishes, friend. That means a lot.

I am so over the political circus… someone also needs to take away Twitter from him.

I am ‘glad’ to hear that you also didn’t love the book. I always feel like an outcast when so many people recommend a book to me that I don’t love as much as they do! ;)

  4. Our tv-watching and listening habits are very similar! I am absolutely awful at keeping up with shows on TV, and basically just turn on baseball at the end of the day :-) Also NPR, and their podcasts, all day every day. Do wish I had more time to read for leisure right now, but being in school is important to me, so it’ll be worth it in the end!

    1. Yay for baseball :)

  5. There’s nothing much on TV these days, really. lol We’re also watching a lot of baseball.

I hope everything goes well for your mum’s surgery. I hated that part about living far away from family. Thinking about you and your whole family, San! Speedy recovery to your mum.

    1. Thanks so much, friend. Your well wishes mean a lot. I will make sure to pass them on!

      Also, yay baseball! ;)

  6. Ha – I did a “Currently” post today as well! Great minds think alike, I guess. ;)

I hope everything goes well for your mom and that she has a super speedy recovery!

  7. Congrats on your half marathon finish this past weekend :)
Sending tons of love to your mom!

    1. Thank you both for the congrats and the well-wishes! I appreciate it!!

  8. I just finished reading “Run the world” by becky Wade. It’s a Great book, I thought you might enjoy it.

    1. Oh, thanks for the recommendation! I’ll put it on my to-read list :)

  9. I know you’re not a podcast person, but I really recommend giving Pod Save America a try. It really breaks down what’s going on in the news in such an accessible way. And it makes me feel a little less hopeless, maybe because it helps me see we’re all in this together.

I’ve become terrible at watching TV now that I live alone. I’m still not finished with Gilmore Girls! Eeks.

    1. Thank you for the recommendation, Stephany. I will look into that podcast!

  10. I haven’t run a half in so long, and I’m running one at the end of August and am so, so excited to finally be back up to half marathon shape after injury and then deployment. I love the running community, whenever and where ever I encounter it. It’s just so damn cool to be surrounded by other people doing the same crazy thing you’re doing.

    1. TOTALLY AGREED. I am so glad I took the jump…. and to be in it with you!! <3 Good luck on your half!!
