3: Letters to the universe

Last year, a couple of blog friends posted these little snippets to the universe and I thought it was such a great idea, because don’t we all have something to put out into the universe sometimes? I sure do, so I am reviving this post idea and encourage you to leave your snippets to the universe in the comments.

Dear November – it would be terrific if you could slow the heck down. I want to enjoy you, relish in your presence, and also get a lot of things done this month. Only 6 weeks until Christmas and I am freaking out a tad bit. Please and thank you.

Dear Coffee – thank you for giving me something to look forward to when I get up every morning.

Dear Anonymous – I really don’t know where your head is when you get into the car at this time of year when it’s dark outside and on top of that, raining, but you must be very preoccupied with other things, so much that you forget to turn your headlights on. Trust me, you’re not the only one, I’ve seen plenty of people driving around in the dark without their lights lately and I am just so afraid that someone might hit you because they really can’t see you. So, please do me a favor and turn on your lights, m’kay?

Dear iPhone 5s – you are 3 years old now and you’ve really been a great phone. You were the right size, I could easily use you with one hand, and you fit into my jeans pocket. You’ve never let me down and you held up superbly, even though I (unintentionally!) dropped you a few times. I am going to be sad to let you go (eventually), but I have to say that your battery has become a bit temperamental and it’s been a hassle having to rely on an external battery and/or outlet all the time. I am not quite ready to upgrade to your newer version (mainly because of the missing headphone jack – why, Apple?), but I think soon might be the time. Can you hold up just a bit longer?

Dear body – thank you for being healthy and strong and (mostly) willing to do what I ask you to. You fall asleep easily, you haven’t given me any aches and pains, and you generally happily support my active lifestyle. I know, sometimes I am not kind. I don’t always drink enough water (working on it every day!), I sometimes torture you with not-so-healthy (but yummy) food,  and sometimes I don’t take the warm up and cool down before and after my workouts seriously (also working on it), but I promise, I try to not take you for granted, ever.

Dear America – please, can everything go back to normal after election day next week? I am so sick and tired of politics these days and mostly upset about the fact that it’s not about issues anymore, but about who can smear the other candidate(s) the most. I hope that those of you who are registered and eligible to vote will do so. If you are still undecided who to vote for (in which case I have to ask ‘who are you?’), you can do a quick check on ISideWith.com, answer some questions and see which candidates aligns best with your values. While I strongly hope for a certain outcome of the election (because I am very scared what happens if the opposite is the case), I do hope we can return to a bit of normalcy in the media and get more reports on the things that really matter around the country and the world.

What letters would you like to put out into the universe today?!

  1. Agree with all of these (especially the last one). I’m mostly tired with all the hatred going back and forth, and all of the freaking election mail I’m getting in the mail! Apparently neither candidate is too concerned with the enviornment because I’ve gotten about 100 flyers this week alone…

    1. Oh goodness, so many flyers… that’s insane. I haven’t really gotten much election mail at all, so I am guessing certain areas are more targeted than others?

  2. Thanks for the shout-out! I need to do a post like this soon! Here are a couple that come to mind:

Dear Goodreads – am I ever going to win a book from your giveaways? I know a girl that has won several but I have won 0! C’mon! Throw me a bone!

Dear Oscar – how did we ever survive without you? I love how you are my shadow when I’m in the kitchen and the extra cuddles you’ve given lately are especially appreciated.

Dear siblings – Why must some of you make it so difficult to plan a family Christmas present for my parents. To the sibling that said she is too busy with work and her 3 kids to think about Christmas, do you realize it’s 6 weeks away and it takes times to coordinate a group gift? (I could never post this on my blog since my family reads it but this is definitely the LAST YEAR that I will plan a gift for our parents!)

    1. I love that post…. when I was scrambling for post ideas for NaBloPoMo, I remembered this one and decided to post it right away :)

So sorry you have to deal with uncooperative siblings. That sucks – I know how hard it can be to get people to be organized and work together in a timely manner. Good luck with the Christmas planning.

  3. Oh man, do I ever hear you on the Iphone 5S. It’s been a great phone, but the battery is killing me. I use my phone all day for work and even with a battery charging case, I’m still dead at the end of the day.

    1. I am glad to hear I am not the only one with the battery problem… but man, it’s annoying.

  4. Totally writing the same letters to my iPhone & to our country!

  5. Oh yes, Dear iPhone 5C. I love you. Like San said, you’re the perfect size since I don’t have giant hands. You’re conveniently the same size as my wallet, which is also conveniently able to fit in my hand. And I’m frugal and don’t want to spend a million dollars on a new phone, even if the camera is FANTASTIC. Please hold out ’til March of 2017. I think a new phone may be a great birthday present.
