Things I love Thursday

Untitled

Well, well, regular posting has yet to resume on this ol’ blog, but I might as well use it as an excuse to bring back the “Things I love Thursday”-posts which I have skipped for quite a while now. I personally don’t have anything against posts that point out things that are awesome, so here we go.

This week I am loving…

… the “Postal bookclub” that I’ve been participating in for well over year now. It has helped me to get back into reading and I’ve enjoyed all of the books that I’ve been sent over the last few months. Books, I probably wouldn’t have picked out myself, but which were worthwhile none the less!

… my new running path at the park in my new neighborhood. The path around the park is a little over 1 mile, which makes for great lap running, and there are pretty houses and friendly people, and people with dogs and kids. It’s my current impression that it’s not quite as busy as the park at which I used to run and I like it.

… soups. It’s that kind of weather where a nice hot soup (or stew) is just the right thing to concoct in the evening. Also, makes great leftovers for lunch.

… Barack Obama’s last SOTU address on Tuesday. I just love to hear him speak publicly. He’s eloquent, funny and charismatic. Not many presidents are.

… my 2016 Inkwell Press Planner. I am so excited I can finally use it. Which planner do you use?

… our new kitchen. I’ve dreamed of a bigger kitchen for years and to finally have a kitchen, where two people can comfortably work next to each other preparing a meal and still have extra free counter space? It’s absolutely fantastic.

… afternoon tea. I am currently bringing a thermos with hot (cinnamon & vanilla) tea to work (and sometimes a cookie or two) and it’s my favorite afternoon ritual right now to get me through the long work days.

… some unexpected mail in my mailbox. That always makes my day!

What are you loving this week?

  1. Having a bigger kitchen is the best! By the time we were getting ready to move out of our apartment, I just couldn’t take it anymore and hated cooking in that tiny box.

I’m going to miss Obama as president. :(

    1. I can totally relate to this… our kitchen space was so small. Yay for bigger kitchens! :)

  2. Having more room in a room is always so welcome!

I’m so glad you were FINALLY able to get one of the planners! I haven’t been using mine as much, but I’ve jotted just a few things here and there in it.

I have to say this week has been….not the best, but hey, at least there’s a three day weekend coming up right?

    1. I am sorry to hear your week was not the best… but yay for three day weekends! :)

  3. Ha, I finally have a planner too! I just bought myself a weekly planner from Leuchtturm 1917 (a German company) and so far, so good. It’s small, but anything bigger wouldn’t work for me. The layout is similar to Moleskine, and I actually love that it’s so plain.

    1. Oh, die Leuchtturm 1917 Kalender kenne ich auch… schön! :)

  4. I so hear you about the new kitchen. The kitchen in our new home is far, far superior to our old one, and I am enjoying it so much.

This week I am really loving the gym in my building. I’ve never been a regular gym goer (although I’m seriously considering working weight lifting into my routine this year), but the weather has been so cold here in Winnipeg that I’m finding it impossible to motivate myself to go outside for exercise. It’s nice being able to just head downstairs on these cold days and put in a little time on the treadmill or bike.

    1. Oh, I can relate to your gym comment… the weather is nasty right now and it would be so nice to run inside. I think I have to go to the gym (it’s just not in my building ;)).

  5. I found you through postal book club and just wanted to say hi. I love our book club too! I’m so glad Kathleen organized it.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Sarah! ;)

  6. So happy to hear that you are settling into your new home and the new surroundings! Been thinking a lot of you! Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend! xxx

  7. That’s awesome that you’ve found a new, quieter running loop in your new neighborhood! And how convenient that it’s a mile loop!

Things I’m loving lately are Amazon Prime, the love that friends and family show to me, especially on my not so good days, the warmer weather (although still cold by any normal person’s measure) we’ve had the last couple of days, and the fact that my weekend has very few plans.

    1. Amazon Prime is the best. Also friends and family… always :) Enjoy your weekend!

  8. I will miss Obama! That’s why the idea of Trump as the actual president makes me shudder – he is so unrefined & I don’t understand how people think he has the qualities of a leader. Just imaging him giving a SOTU address, or speaking with leaders from other countries…ughhh.

This week, I’m belatedly receiving most of my birthday gifts – in the mail (things people shipped & a few things I ordered for myself :P) & when I see people. It’s so nice to be remembered, especially since my birthday weekend was overshadowed by my cousin’s wedding.

  9. I loved the SOTU address! Honestly, I don’t talk politics much, however, even though I side just a tad bit more with the conservatives, I can swing either way. This upcoming election makes it quite easy for me when deciding who I’m going to vote for. Unfortunately, I’m registered in Texas so my vote won’t count for much.
