Something I am working on…

So, I got out my yarn again. To be honest, the summer months are kind of tough (at least around these parts here) when it comes to working with yarn, because it’s so hot. If our living room is not cooled down significantly, my hands get so sweaty that the yarn is not gliding through my fingers as it’s supposed to, when I am crocheting, and that’s a real pain in the butt. But, last weekend I had this “itch” to create something and since J is running the AC most of the time anyway these days (the poor guy sweats much more easily than I do), I was able to start a new project. Hooray.

I am using Loops and Threads Cotton Club 100% Natural Cotton yarn (from Michaels) and it’s really easy to work with and it’s supersoft. I am also in love with the pastel colors.

Since I haven’t crocheted since last winter, I thought I’d just start with an easy, quick project: a round pillow case (with easy double-crochet circles) for the pillow that I’ve had lying around here forever.
I simply love crocheting. It is such a nice, easy activity that I can do while watching TV or talking with J in the evenings. It really relaxes me when I can do something with my hands.

What are you working on?

  1. I love it! The colours you picked loo so good together. I totally feel ya on your hands sweating & the yarn just not moving nicely, ha! Yet I continue to bring knitting or crochet projects wherever I go. ;)

Right now I’m working on market bags to sell at the arts & craft street fair I’m going to have a booth at in August!

  2. Making Dill Pickles and very soon, making peach Jam!

  3. So pretty – I love the colours! I’ve always wanted to learn how to knit and crochet! My sister taught me how to make hats on a loom-type thing but that’s as far as I’ve gotten :)

  4. Ooooh, I sense the craft corner in your apartment is coming alive – hooray!

  5. OMG, I learned to knit and crochet at school and I made myself some scarfs and easy projects over the years but the last time I did anything of the two was about 10 years ago?
I honestly can’t remember how to do it. I would have to look it up in the Internet. :-)
Perhaps I try something out this winter. I git my Mom’s sewing machine as well and I would love to try something out but I just can’t find the time for it.

  6. That’s nice! I love it! I am a knitter, but I find that I often start projects and don’t finish them. Turns out, I would rather read, or blog, or run, and you can’t knit at the same time! I think in winter, when things slow down (ie weekends) and the weather gets worse, I am more apt to pick it back up again!

  7. It looks beautiful! I love the pastel colors and the yarn really looks super soft! I hear you on the sweaty hands. I took some knitting to the lake the other day, but it was just a pain so I packed it back up.
I have a few projects I work on at the same time, knitting, embroidery, other crafts….I can’t ever decide to finish one first! haha

  8. Pretty! that is just gorgeous! I tried to crochet a couple of years ago and made a baby blanket for a friend, but it was my first and last project. I really struggled w/the pattern and was never 100% sure I was doing it right! But I LOVE to knit and right now I am working on an infinity scarf! I hadn’t knit since January! So it’s fun to finally have a project to work on. :)

  9. I’m impressed! You are quite the talented crocheter. I picked up crocheting last Winter and can’t wait to start again once the wedding craziness has slowed down. I made some scarves and a hat last year. Maybe I’ll try something bigger this year!
