As you might remember, I made some goals for the month of February and I wanted to recap on how I did. I think I did okay.
Practice to say “no”: I think I am getting better. I did say “yes” to two things, not because I felt obligated, but because I wanted to. That’s different. Right?
Stop volunteering my time: I did not volunteer my time this month. It goes hand in hand with the “saying no” and I think I did a good job on that.
Finish a book: Big fail. I don’t know where the time went, but I did not pick up and read a book during the month of February at all. (Unless you want to count the book that I bought at the thrift store and that I flipped through.) I did read – from cover to back – two of the magazines that I subscribe to, and that makes me kind of proud, because I haven’t really thoroughly enjoyed my magazine subscriptions lately.
Write and send out two letters: I only wrote one letter, but made up for the second one with a bunch of hand-written cards. I’d say, that counts!
Manage my time better and do things that I love and enjoy: Success! I’ve started going back to the gym 3x per week and I’ve taken two whole weekend days to craft and blog. This makes my heart happy.
And then, holy hell, it’s March already!
There are a lot of things happening in March.
1) March is a busy birthday month in our family. 5 family members – including me! – are March babies. My cousin’s birthday is on March, 4, my sister and I celebrate our shared birthday on March, 10, my nephew is turning 1 year old on March, 14 and my uncle’s birthday is on March, 16.
I also know at least 10 other March birthday boys and girls. Yep, March is a popular month to be born :)
2) I am planning a trip down to SoCal after my birthday to hang out and go thrift shopping with my MIL.
3) We’re possibly planning a trip to Napa for my birthday. A little wine tasting and shopping at Dean & Deluca is never a bad idea, don’t you agree?
4) We might start looking at apartments. Yay! I think I’ve mentioned it a few times before, but I’ve been dying to move to a bigger place. Our tiny 1-bedroom apartment is getting ooold. I love the big windows, the natural light, the hardwood floors, but that about sums it up. Our next place has to step it up a (few) notch(es).
5) Did I mention that Indie Biz 3.0 starts today? I am super-stoked. I worked on my Student Workbook this weekend and I am ready to roll.
What’s happening for you in March?

P.S. One thing I can’t help to mention: yesterday a year ago , I lost my Granddad. It feels kind of odd, because I remember exactly where I was when I received the devastating phone call from my sister. I felt not only miles, but light years away from home and incredibly alone. It’s hard to fathom that a whole year has passed since that day. Time goes by so fast.

March 1, 2011 at 1:02 pmWow, it has been a year? I cannot believe it. I know the pain is still fresh for you. Again my condolences.
Let’s see, March, it is the month that I take my dogs to the Vets for their shots, get their licenses and go to see my sister.

March 1, 2011 at 1:37 pmHi I just found your blog via Sunday Morning Sugar which I’m also sponsoring this month :) I also have a March birthday (the 8th) I’ve been noticing today that several of the blogs I read are talking about March birthdays! Pretty crazy? Do you think bloggers tend to be Pisces?

March 1, 2011 at 5:18 pmAw! You have the same birthday of my cousins. How fun!
I hope March turns out much better than February did for me. :) I’m focused on healing and working on ridding stress from my life as best I can. Also, showing my first piece of fiction to my class. AHH, STRESS!

March 1, 2011 at 7:10 pmI love your goals! Saying no is something I’ve had to really work on (and continue to work on) over the past couple of months. It’s been tough, but it is SO worth it.

March 2, 2011 at 4:43 amThat’s funny you mention learning to say no – I have been feeling spread in so many different directions lately, and I got an email from my boss last week saying her church had a speaker coming in to do a series on “boundaries: learning to say no” which I’ve been actually contemplating checking out!
And wow, I can’t believe a year has gone so quickly – I know how hard it must still be, and I’d give you a big hug right now if I could <3

March 2, 2011 at 6:13 amSounds like you had a pretty productive February, and March will be even busier! Your current apartment sounds really cute, but I can definitely appreciate wanting a bigger place :)
Thinking of you and your grandfather today <3

March 2, 2011 at 7:03 amI can’t believe it’s March already! What the heck? This year is just flying by and it’s only just started (or so I thought, anyway! Haha.) So anyways…good job on your February goals, I’d say overall you did awesome! Do you have any books you’re interested in reading? I have so many “to-read” books on my shelf! Argh. Haha. These days it takes me forever to get through a book. I usually only get to read right before bedtime, and it’s seriously a page or two before I’m nodding off to sleep, even if the book is interesting! Yeesh. I guess this is what happens when you get older…when I was a kid I would sneak a light under my covers and read until the wee hours of the morning. Ha. Anyway. At least I try! Lol. Have a great week!

March 2, 2011 at 9:25 amDon’t feel bad about not finishing a book because I haven’t even read a book yet this year. That’s really sad. I need to fix that ASAP!
I hope you have a wonderful Birthday month! :)

March 3, 2011 at 8:24 amSpeaking of books, I started one in January but still haven’t made it past the first 100 pages. Do text books count? Because I’m currently reading one. Haha. ;)
Good luck on the apartment hunt!!!
As for me, not much is going on this March. I’m hoping to finish more yard work and get our porch ready for a spring BBQ with friends.

March 4, 2011 at 1:16 amSounds like you have a busy month ahead!
Not much happening for me this month – studying a Marketing subject at university, doing Indie Biz and working on some products for my upcoming shop. Lots of work!

March 4, 2011 at 2:13 pmSounds like February was a win for you, yay!
For March, I have planned to finish this term of classes, go to a conference to present a paper in Prague, and start a new term of classes with new students and a new course I’ve never taught. A lot to come! :)

March 6, 2011 at 8:52 pmSaying yes because you want to is completely different to saying yes because you feel like you have too. Also, a trip to Napa sounds divine. Incredibly divine.
