Two or three weeks ago, during a moment of huge motivation and inspiration I came across the announcement above and – to be honest, somewhat on a whim – I signed up for Indie Business 3.0.
The moment after I hit the “register” button (and had paid the fee), my mind instantly started questioning my impulsive behavior. “What the heck were you thinking? Do you really want to learn about small business stuff? You don’t even have an Etsy shop (YET!), let alone a solid idea of what you’d even like to do with your creative side! Do you really think you have time for this right now?”
And then, I brushed all those silly and frankly annoying thoughts away, and decided “I will make time for it, and yes, I really want to do this”.
This is what I pledged to do in 2011: do more things that I want to do and that make me happy. Explore new paths. Meet new people. Try new things.
Why would I let this opportunity slip away?
In all honesty, I am slightly nervous and a teeny tiny bit intimidated by all the other creative people that have signed up for the class with me, not to even mention by the very inspiring teachers LA from Freckled Nest, Jill Munro from LuneVintage and Lisa of Lisa Leonard Designs !
But to heck with this, I am just as a valuable member of this class as anybody else (self-doubt much?) and I can do this. I will do this.
If you’re also taking the class, please leave a comment, so I can hop over to your blog (if I haven’t already done that) and/or connect with me on Twitter.

February 18, 2011 at 1:55 pmAhh, I envy you for so much courage and creativity (did I thank you for your wonderful handmade christmas-card yet – sooo creative).
I would consider myself at least a little creative but with two kids I just can’t really find the time to do as much as I would love too (sew, stitch, paint).
If I ever have enough courage (and money) I would love to open a small cafe, serving homemade soups, bread, cakes, muffins, etc…
anyways, yay for you for signing up, I would too but unfortunately don’t think it would help me…

February 19, 2011 at 7:44 amLove this. And good for you! In life, it is often the seemingly impulsive decisions that turn out to be the best ones. I do hope you’ll blog a bit about your experience in the class?

February 20, 2011 at 5:45 amHi, I’m taking the course too. I clicked on your name because you are from Germany living in CA, and I and from CA living in Germany! I looked at your profile and saw you were at Davis for a while, that’s where I graduated from! haha. I’m inspired by your Alphabet photos too, your mirror shot is great. So, here’s to the new course! See you there!
