Beauty Spring Essentials

SpringEssentials

1.) Sephora Blush Me! Just perfect to get a little bit of pink on your cheeks. Especially helps if you’re as pale as I am!

2.) Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener If you have problems with dark circles, which constantly make you look more tired than you actually are, try this! It has a nice cooling effect when you put it on and it instantly brightens up your under-eye skin.

3.) Oscar Biandi Pronto Dry Shampoo I have to admit to greasy roots, which especially sucks if the rest of your hair is fairly dry and needs lots of moisturizing. Therefore, washing your day every day is not really an option, even though I still do on occasion. I found that dry shampoo really works for me to stretch an extra day until the next hair wash.

4.) Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray This girl – on top of the greasy roots – also has very thin, fine hair which means I am constantly looking for products that make my hair look more voluminous and full. B&B Thickening Spray was recommended by my hair dresser. It’s a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way and I like it, because it’s light-weight and smells good. Double win!

5.) Too Faced Shadow Insurance To be honest, I’d never thought in a million years that this product would really make a difference, but surprise!, it does! It really does.
J got this for me for Christmas (along with a bunch of other beauty products) and I suspect that he was conned into buying it by the shop assistant – but in this case, I guess it was a good thing.  As advertised on the website, “this is your full-coverage insurance policy against all fading, creasing, melting, blurring, oil slicked, and hard-to-blend eyeshadow accidents. [This] silicone based eyeshadow primer transforms any eyeshadow into a perfectly blendable, color-drenched, intensified version of itself, then locks it down perfectly until you take it off.” Awesome.

6.) Bare Minerals Foundation I still can’t get enough of the bare minerals products. I’ve heard that opinions differ about those products (some swear by it, others get break outs from it), but I have to say that my skin really likes this light-weight foundation coverage. And did anyone notice that they finally came up with a better lid and dispenser closure, so you can throw it in your beauty bag without worrying all the content being emptied out into the lid?

What are your Beauty Spring Essentials? Can you recommend something?

  1. You know, I tried Bare Minerals … for about a year. And while I never broke out because of it, I was very lukewarm with the product. It was disappointing given how many good things I’d heard.

But, that Sephora blush? Oh my – looks like the perfect shade for spring. I’m definitely going out to buy some this week!

  2. Where do you get that dry shampoo? I bought one here and it was rubbish – it did nothing! Other than make my pillow smell REALLY good lol. Also the undereye brightener looks fantastic – can you get either of these online?
.-= Emily Jane´s last blog ..80s Time Traps, McCartney & Gaga, and Weapon-Wielding Monarchs: April = AWESOME =-.

    1. Both, the dry shampoo and the undereye brightener are from sephora.com. You can just follow the links in the blog posts.

      1. I just checked and they DO ship to Canada!! Trying them out in T-one business week lol

        1. Oh, great! I hope you’ll like both items as much as I do!

  3. I am too stingy to buy any products that are over $10 a piece, so I usually just stick to Covergirl cosmetics or whatever else is cheap but works for me. :)
    .-= Stefanie´s last blog ..Five Years! =-.

    1. I used to be that way, but I definitely can appreciate the quality of some of the more expensive products.

  4. dry shampoo reminds me of rock festivals a long, long time ago! :)))
i love the bare minerals makeup. i’ve had my share of skin problems since my thyroidectomy and bare minerals seems to be the only makeup my skin can stand now. i love how you can have light or full coverage. just ordered some more, too!

  5. I have no beauty essentials, but I’ve been meaning to try bare minerals! You’d recommend it?

    1. Like I said – opinions differ about bare minerals, but I (still) like it.

  6. I’ll make sure to stock up on all these goodies. Wouldn’t want to head out without my bare minerals. Haha. I am honestly so happy it’s warm now. ;) I hope you are well. Perhaps a trip to CT is in store this year??

  7. you know i have been happy with my bare minerals as well since i first got it in 2007. love (!) the coverage and while my skin didn’t improve like i had hoped it would, i was happy with it. mostly. still had some break-outs but i blamed that on diet, hormones… until i read a “review” on jenny’s site and decided to “investigate” if maybe this wasn’t that great for my skin after all.

so about six weeks ago i switched to alverde natural foundation, blush and loose powder and have been more than (!) happy with it. the brushes are a lot softer and it works great for me. i still have some break-outs (and probably always will) but for me this is much more convenient because it’s easier to buy in germany (and cheaper) and a little less “time consuming” and “complicated”. again, that’s how it is for me. but that also means that i have a few bare minerals thingies here that i can give you when we see each other in may (of you want them ;))

oh PS: i’m totally gonna do this, too. fun, fun :)

    1. We need to have a talk about Bare Minerals, I guess ;)

Thanks for posting your spring essentials as well :)

  8. Ha, my Spring Beauty essentials are flipflops and a sundress, but I’m pretty low maintenance. ;) I have to have a little concealer and foundation (Both Cover Girl), I LOVE Physician’s Formula loose mineral powder, it’s $12 but lasts for year — literally. I’m largely unaffiliated for mascara and blush, my other two necessities, I just try whatever looks good…

  9. heh. done :)

  10. Well, I’m walking down to Sephora for that dry shampoo and blush tomorrow! I think we have the same type of hair, so your tips are great for me, thanks!

  11. Ooooh I love this post, San! I am a self-diagnosed beauty product addict. :D Which, hmmmm, may or may not be such a good thing! Either way, indulging in goodies like these makes me feel girlie and happy and I love it. I loooove Bare Minerals foundation, I’ve been using it for about 3 years and my skin loves it. It gives me that nice “finished” look of foundation but without being too heavy or cakey, I’m not a huge fan of liquid foundation as it is. But, I did NOT know about that super cool new lid!!!! I love it! I can’t wait until it’s time to restock because that design seems way more convenient. Love it.

I’ve been looking for a good under eye brightener, I may just have to stop by sephora to try it out! Bumble and bumble is another favorite of mine, they put out many products that I love.

    Awesome, totally fun post! <3

  12. OH and my eyeshadow primer of choice is Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I just can’t do without it! It makes my make up last all day (from early morning to wayyyy after I get off work!) without even as much as a crease. It’s awesome!

  13. oh em gee! I missed this post, while on my “internet hiatus” gah!! This is soooo my area of expertise!

    My spring essentials are:

    -Rosebud Lip Salve (sephora)
    -Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (sephora)
    -Maybeline Dream Mousse Blush
    -Benefit Bad Gal Mascara
-Sephora shimmer lip gloss (color: sugar cookie)

and I know alot of people like the 2faced Shadow Insurance and the Urban Decay Primer Potion, but I personally, prefer MAC PAINT POTS(color:painterly). I like how it glides onto the eye and keeps my shadow on much longer than any of the above mentioned…worth a try!

OK…that’s it..not that you wanted to know all of that, but I just had to give me 2 cents :)
