It’s been raining all day. J would be the happiest guy in the world if he could be here right now. He LOVES the rain. He would run around outside in Jeans and T-Shirt and wear his brightest smile when he gets back inside all soaking wet.
I remember this one time during my exchange semester in CA. J and I had only known each other for a couple of weeks and one night, he asked me to accompany him to a meeting of a student group on Campus. It was some time in January, rainy season in Northern California, and it was pouring! We rode our bikes to Campus and I was swearing because of the pouring rain and because of how wet it was. I couldn’t stop ranting. Eventually we both bursted into laugther looking at each other’s soppy faces. From one second to the next, the rain didn’t bother me anymore and I started riding my bike through the biggest puddles. It was liberating :) We were soaked to the skin, but it was cool how something totally annoying could turn into something that was so much fun! I have fond memories of that night and I do agree that riding your bike through the warm rain can be fun [I remember I was wearing flip flops… in January!].
However, the rain is cold here in Germany. Especially when the year hits November. I mean, that is almost like winter [although winter technically won’t start before the end of December] and the rain always comes along with cold winds.
It’s been nasty out. I really didn’t want to go outside at all and I am not sure for how long J would have enjoyed this kind of rain.
If I think about it, this kind of weather really makes me look forward to being in CA. BUT I do like this kind of weather when I am inside all snuggled up under a blanket with some hot tea and a good book on the couch :) How does that sound?
[Well, to be honest, it actually was more like spending some quality time with my sister this afternoon… but there was tea and a cozy couch :) And this was even better than the above said, if you ask me!]

November 14, 2006 at 12:56 pmTell me about cold rain! Here it’s been raining horizontally for weeks now, no umbrella will keep you from getting soaking wet and the streets are all flooded. But I can also relate to the happy feeling rain can give you! I had this on our vacation this summer, we felt so free in the warm summer rain, we could dance and sing!
But as for now, I lit some candles and snuggle up on the couch!
I wish you a great rest of the week (I heard warm and sunny weather is coming)!

November 14, 2006 at 2:01 pmRain is great when you have the choice to be in it or not. Curling up on the couch and having a lazy day is a perfect way to spend a rainy day.
I remember a similar story with J. It was December and for some reason it was raining instead of snowing. J and I were walking back from getting hot chocolate at Tim Horton’s and it started pouring. We got so wet and J started jumping in puddles. It was pretty funny. When you’re wet, what’s the point in avoiding the puddles?

November 14, 2006 at 3:47 pm:) That’s so awesome….it’s like that…when you are with someone who captures you and your heart, it doesn’t matter at all if it rains and it can be very liberating to be together and experience these things. :)
I am sure there will be a ton of laughter and warm rainy nights in the near future.
I am more of a blanket, tea and book person in Boston these days. :)

November 14, 2006 at 5:02 pmIts been raining cats and dogs here lately ;-)
I dont really care for the rain myself, at least not when im outside ;-) Prefer to snuggle up inside like you said. Funny that J loves the rain so much – I know a few people that do and its a mistery to me..
Me and keith got caught in the rain a few times and at first all i do is curse and complain, but you know how it is – once your soaked to the bone all you can do is laugh ;-)

November 15, 2006 at 12:15 amHi out of the rain – state of the USA !!!
Over the last week it was raining for 6 !!!!! days – 24/7. It was really insane. Noah was already knocking on the door…
I am so so so excited for you. 7 days !!! Awesome !!!
For us there are still 13 days to go. After 28 months here in the States I’ll finally make it “home” for three weeks.
But of course your step to move into the States in just one week is so special. I am really happy for you guys. It was a long long time.

November 15, 2006 at 12:34 amOh what a cute story from your and J’s early days! Sweet! :-* More more more!
I agree with you on the rain – it sucks here. Of course I live in a city prone to Mistwetter so I should be thankful for only grey skies today no rain yet. Harr harrr! ;-)

November 15, 2006 at 8:39 amI’m up in New Hampshire, and I am sick, sick, sick of the cold rain! I’d like either sun or snow! Snow I can deal with because I love to ski. But rain, not so much!

November 15, 2006 at 3:32 pmI am not too much of a fan of rain but I admit it can be like a relief during the hot summer days. And I just love the way the air smells after a good thunderstorm. But during the winter (or cold season, in general), no thanks.
