Kim wants to know…

Ok you guys, if you have been over at Kim‘s blog, then you know that she had someone interview her with 5 questions and then posted the answers. Then it was her turn to interview someone and she sent me 5 questions that I’ll answer now for you to enjoy and learn a little more about me :)

Here we go:

1. What is the biggest accomplishment in your life, the one you’re most proud of.

My biggest accomplishment? Mmh, that’s a tough one. I think my biggest accomplishment is that I have always been true to myself. I might have overcome my shyness, I am more out-going and more self-confident than I used to be, but I still think that I am most proud of myself for never giving in to “peer pressure”. I have never cared much about what other people thought of me or if they thought I was “boring” for not trying that cigarette when we were 15 or not drinking alcohol like everybody else. I just didn’t do it and the others were “the cowards” in my eyes. I also had no problem to stand up for myself in class and defend my point of view, even though most of the other students didn’t share my opinion.

2. If you had not studied geography, what career-path would you have taken instead?

Oh man, you’re bringing on some tough questions… how am I supposed to know what career-path I would have chosen, if I hadn’t studied geography? When I was a kid, I always wanted to become a veterinarian. I was actually considering it for quite a while – until I worked at our neighbor’s vet clinic for a couple of summers. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED to work with the animals, but a) I don’t think I would have ever been able to go to medical school to learn how to do surgeries on animals [I can’t see blood!] and b) it was really sad to see animals suffer from illness and die. That was actually the hardest part while working at the clinic. I think that’s when I decided that becoming a vet was not for me. I think, if I hadn’t gotten interested in the geographical field, I would probably have pursued a career in Physical Education or a sports-related field.

3. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I don’t think I want to change anything about myself. That might sound pretty “arrogant”, because I am surely far from being perfect and there are a million things that could be changed about me, but I think if I changed something, I wouldn’t be ME anymore ;) Although, on second thought, I think I have to learn how to give myself more credit. I tend to be very humble and take the back seat a lot of the times and sell myself at less than fair value. I have a hard time realizing what I am worth and I hide my light under a bushel [I like that expression in English ;)] and I really need to work on that.

4. People say that twins have a “special connection”. Is that true and could you give an example?

Well, you might want to argue that I am “only” a fraternal twin and that this is different from actually having a twin that has the complete same DNA as yourself, but I do believe that twins – no matter if identical or fraternal – share a special connection. I do feel very close to my sister. I miss her terribly now that we live so far away from each other. I admit that the closeness can be true for normal siblings as well, but I do believe that I share a deeper connection with my sister, because we shared the same womb and have grown up in such closeness, going through the same stages of life together. I don’t know if I have any real good examples to “prove” this, but it has happened many times that I wanted to call my sister and got the busy signal and then later found that my sister was trying to call me at the exact same time. “Special connection”? I would want to think so. Coincidence? Maybe.

5. What was the best thing/most special moment of your wedding day?

It is really hard to pick one special thing or moment of our wedding day and declare it the best or most special. Our wedding day was beautiful all around and there are so many fond memories that come to my mind when I think back. The gospel choir in church, the red and white heart-shaped balloons, Jon’s scream of relief when the official ceremony was over… the food, the dancing, the fun!
I think, the most special thing was the fact that I was able to have all the people that are important to me there with me… my parents, my sister, my relatives, and my friends. I know that I shouldn’t take this for granted and I didn’t – I was totally aware of how lucky I was on this special day :)

Wow, this was fun and I didn’t realize how much I wrote until I clicked the “preview” tab ;)

Ok, now it’s your turn – I want to ask you some questions:

1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.”
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your weblog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

  1. thanks sweety for sharing – especially since i did get kinda personal :) but i certainly enjoyed reading!

you definitely hide your light under a bushel at times. and you know you don’t have to. you are so special and smart and fun and beautiful in so many ways and you should give yourself more credit for that! word! :P

    miss you tons! *smooch*

  2. Oh that was really interesting Sweetie! Have a good week!!

  3. It was awesome reading more about you girl! Interview me please ;-)

  4. Hi Sannie,

I’m one of your blog readers…who identified herself when you asked a while back :-)…German living in Ireland at the moment and also lived in the US.

I’ve enjoyed reading the interview and have also wanted to start a new blog for a while…so interview me :-).

    Julia

  5. Hey I learned quite some interesting things about you! Coincidently I not only did also study geography, I wanted to become a vet, too. (And didn’t because of the same reasons you didn’t). Big hug coming your way!

  6. Hey Sweetheart, you are more worth than you think you are! Well, I already told you that.

Talk to you on Thursday! *bibber…*

  7. I loved reading this. It’s so amazing that you studied Geography because that was one of my dreams too… Interview me!

  8. Interview me!

Interesting answers! I agree on the “twin thing”. I have lived with “my” twins Megan and Shannon in Chicago for six months and there were many things I could not explain and we would just be like “Aaah. It’s the TWIN THING.” Like them running off to find the 80 easter eggs Sandi and I had hidden all over the front and backyard and both of them returning with 40 each. Or both of them starting to throw up at the EXACT same second. That was fun.

  9. awesome answers, sweetie. i really liked them. thank you for sharing them with us:-)

  10. Kind of late but if you’re still doing this, please interview me. :)
