Yes, even as a two-person household, we have a Costco membership. There are a lot of things I won’t buy (especially in the fresh food section), because we simply won’t be able to eat everything up fast enough, but I still feel the membership is worth it for certain bulk items like toiletries, cleaning supplies, clothing, and food staples, like meat and frozen goods. The membership fee is easily offset by savings on these household items, food, and gas. I thought share a few things I bought recently.
DICED CHICKEN
I saw this Al Pastor Diced Chicken (1) in the freezer aisle and thought it would be perfect to have on hand for salads or taco night. I usually just buy fresh meat and marinate and cook it myself, but sometimes it’s nice to have something on hand that just needs to be heated up.
GRILLED CHICKEN STRIPS
The grilled chicken strips (2) are in the refrigerated section and come in a two-pack. It’s a pretty good deal for 2 lbs of chicken and it’s an easy source of protein to have in the fridge to pack for lunch or throw on salads. Jon’s a fan.
PEET’S COFFEE
I used to buy the big bags there for our office when I still made coffee at the office and took turns with my co-workers to bring in coffee bags. We all liked Peet’s, so that is what we (silently) agree on bringing in. Costco has always had a good deal on Peet’s Coffee. I usually get the Major Dickason’s Blend, but they had this “Alpine Blend” (3) last time and I thought I’d give it a try.
DUTCH GOUDA
I grew up eating Gouda cheese. We lived close to the Dutch border, so we often got the cheese fresh from across the border. It’s one of my favorite cheeses. I feel like Gouda is not as popular here as other kinds of cheeses and honestly, I get it, the stuff that you can get packaged at the stores is not that great. You should try this imported version of Dutch Gouda from Holland (4) sometime and tell me if you taste the difference!
ORGAIN CREATINE
I’ve been thinking of trying creatine (5) as a supplement and had heard good things about it, so I picked up one of these containers during my last Costco run. I’ve only been taking it for a couple of weeks, so I cannot speak to its effectiveness, but I put it in my coffee (alongside my collagen peptides) and it dissolves completely and since it’s unflavored, there’s no weird taste. So far, so good.
What do you recommend from Costco? Do you take creatine?

November 25, 2025 at 6:19 pmThere are only a couple of Costco stores in Melbourne, and I do not go to them. I think the closest is about 20 minutes from us. I hardly go anywhere for groceries that I can’t walk to, to be honest. I do take creatine, although I have trouble remembering to take it every day. I usually put it in my tea, but I don’t drink tea everyday.

November 26, 2025 at 12:33 amI started with creatine too but don’t notice difference yet.
I used to love to buy baby spinach in Costco and berries in big boxes.

November 26, 2025 at 4:13 amWhen the boys were younger we NEEDED to have massive quantities of string cheese on hand at all times, so Costco was a must for us then and we still like it in our semi-empty nest stage of life.
Our #1 is their frozen broccoli. It’s very good quality, and we love to roast it in the air fryer. On my most recent trip I got our Thanksgiving turkey from there.

November 26, 2025 at 4:35 amI just spent $780 at Costco yesterday. Is it a record? It might be close.
I have also started creatine! We are a Creatine Club, apparently, looking at the comments! I started at the end of October and I haven’t noticed a huge “boost” like I did when I started BCAAs but I do feel pretty strong.
I actually really like shopping at Costco, they are a good company and the prices are excellent if you know what you’re doing!

November 26, 2025 at 10:13 amYes to the creatine! I started in July and it took a couple months, but I definitely notice a difference now both in my body and in my brain. I use this brand and put it in my coffee too. So easy!

November 26, 2025 at 3:09 pmI don’t take creatine. I get so many things at Costco. One thing I’ve found there is a bag of like toasted quinoa coated in dark chocolate – it’s a great snack. I also buy the little keto protein bars and keto cereal – that stuff is gf, so I give it a try sometimes. I like that it has no sugar.

November 26, 2025 at 4:09 pmI haven’t tried Creatine. It sounds like a lot of people are taking it. I think Costco is great! We don’t get there too often, but we go stock up about every other month. I just went a few days ago and got paper towels, Kleenex, toilet paper, napkins, dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, Lysol spray and wipes, and Venus razors. I’m glad I didn’t go the day after because a big winter squall roared through town and the power went out. Costco told people to leave their carts wherever they were and go home! I was thanking my lucky stars that I missed out on that!

November 28, 2025 at 12:19 pmA friend is a one-person household and she is a Costco member. She also uses their pharmacy, so that might be why. The parking lot always looks too crowded for me to even think about it!

November 28, 2025 at 10:22 pmWe used to have a membership to Metro back in the day but we ended up spending more there than when going to normal stores. The smaller sizes for goods we could eat as a two person household were usually more expensive. However in the fruit and veggie section you would easily find exotic things to try or when needed for a special recipe. Also they had a huge fish selection. But we didnt renew it at some point. Didnt really miss it.
I wonder what collagen is good for exactly. I have only read on Julies blog about it but never anywhere else.
