19: Five Things Friday Vol. 36

I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2021

Five Things Friday: just five things I’m thinking about or things that made my week, or things that I otherwise feel like sharing.

Big shoutout to my fellow NaBloPoMo-warriors Tobia, Jenny, Stefanie, Stephany, NGS, and Kristyn. You’ve made it past the halfway mark of NaBloPoMo and you’re going strong. I am so proud of you! I hope you’re having as much fun as I am having… because I have thoroughly enjoyed your posts (and company) so far!

This week, I came across this cute printable advent calendar and since I already shared my links for this month and didn’t include it, I wanted to make sure you saw this before the beginning of advent, in case you still need to come up with an advent calendar for a loved one.

Tanja and I are wrapping up the 8-week Power Zone Fall Challenge with PZPack* and the Peloton Streakers this week. The schedule was a minimum of 3 power zone rides per week, plus an optional 30-minute “accelerator ride” that earned our team extra points. It’s been a lot of fun and I can’t wait to join the next challenge in the new year.

In the meantime, we’ll be checking out the Peloton Advent Calendar Ride 2021 Group on Facebook. #spindeer. Here’s the official description:

This group is a digital advent calendar for the countdown to Christmas – Peloton style! Each day the calendar will be opened to reveal a different ride that we can all participate in as a community. This ride can be done as a group or solo – taking into account we have group members from all over the world in different time zones. We will try to include a range of instructors and music genres. Most importantly have fun and Merry Christmas to all. Disclaimer: This group is not affiliated with Peloton.

I am making turkey chili in the crockpot tomorrow and I am so excited. It’s been forever that I made my own chili. Do you like chili? What’s your favorite recipe?

I can’t believe it’s Thanksgiving next week. This year will wrap up in no time. As always, I look forward to the holiday season but once again, it seemed to have “snuck up” on me. I am never quite ready when it arrives and then I try to hold on for dear life to make it last as long as possible. Do you have plans for the holidays this year, or are you still Covid-wary?

TGIF!

  1. Oh I just realized there are two more people doing NaBloPoMo that I didn’t know about. I need to catch up on the post reading. Tomorrow it’s almost midnight here.

Oh this year how is it already Christmas season. All the time just gone.

I haven’t made chili in forever. Maybe I put that on my cooking list. Thanks for the inspiration

    1. I hadn’t made my own chili in forever either but this is the perfect time of year to get to it again :)

  2. We’re mostly vegetarian and I’ve yet to find a vegetarian chili recipe that suits both me and my husband, so we truck along without chili. BUT! My MIL made a wonderful chili and she wrote out the recipe for me one day and, now that she’s no longer here, that handwritten recipe makes me smile whenever I am flipping through our printed recipe folder.

    1. Even though you won’t use your MIL’s recipe, I am glad it can still make you smile to have something personal from here in your recipe folder :)

  3. Love the printable Advent calendar – so cute.

That said (and I do love creative projects)…I just don’t have it in me this year.

And I’m learning to be okay with that. I did holiday photocards. And I’ll make some goodies for neighbours. But our Advent calendar will involve chocolate, will be mass-produced and will take ZERO creativity.

Maybe next year, if we finally get through this COVID-induced haze of exhaustion?

    1. Oh, do I hear ya. The Covid-haze of exhaustion. I feel it too and in some areas get by on doing the bare minimum. It’s okay. We all need some grace.

  4. I love chili! I wish Paul did but he won’t eat it. Will will eat the beans from chili. I have a couple of different recipes I make. My favorite is a sweet and spicy chili that includes a can of baked beans and some brown sugar. But it’s a less healthy chili so not one I make very often!

  5. Woohoo! I am so glad I joined NaBloPoMo this year – I’m having such a fun time with it. :)

I have a few chili recipes that I love. There’s this taco chili recipe that I think I got off Skinnytaste that is yum, yum, yum. My only problem with chili is that it makes SO MUCH. (What a problem to have, haha.) I usually freeze half of it (or give it to my mom), but it still is soooo much for one person.
