AWKWARD
+ It’s awkward when perfectly fine and functional apps + websites make design changes just because (I’m talking about you, Google). The latest offender: Instagram. Why oh why did you have to put the “like” and “comment” button up at the top (right under the image) and change them to “icons” instead of “words”? Do. not. like. It leads to unnecessarily having to scroll up and down. I feel it was easier to reach to the “like” and “comment” button right underneath the capture (especially when it is a long one). Just me?
+ I know it’s supposed to be nice/friendly when the clerk at the supermarket checkout asks you casual questions about how your day is going or what your plans for the weekend are, but sometimes I just don’t want to answer those questions! Leave me alone!
AWESOME
+ Mason jar salads for lunch. I am so glad that now that the warmer season is around the corner, I can take advantage and prepare some easy lunch options in advance. I tend to forgo salads in the winter for something warmer and more soothing (soup), but I am excited to go back to salad lunches this summer. (It’s ironic that on the day I post this, it’s cold and rainy here in California.)
+ May is our anniversary month. We’ll be married for 9 years in a couple weeks. Crazy how time flies. I don’t think we’ll go on a trip (like we did last year), since my family is coming to visit so soon, but I am sure we’ll do something to celebrate the occasion!
+ I started a new Runtastic training plan and my next goal is to run a 10k. (Just for me, right now. I haven’t signed up for a race officially, or anything, but we’ll see how that goes).
+ Early bedtime. I’ve been trying to go to bed earlier for about a week now and get at least 30 minutes more shut-eye and it seems to be working quite well. I wouldn’t say that I jump out of bed at 5:45 a.m. with excitement, but I don’t feel so groggy in the morning as I did a couple of weeks ago.

May 7, 2015 at 1:50 pmMmm, I’ve been meaning to try bringing salads in mason jars! What are some of your favorite recipes?
I need to try to get to bed earlier too!

May 7, 2015 at 3:30 pmEarlier this afternoon I was at Target picking up hair dye. I’ve been dying my hair at home for awhile because it’s soooo much cheaper. And the cashier lady was like “Just wait until you have gray hairs! You’re just coloring your hair for fun right now.” Uh…. I literally had no idea what to say so I didn’t say anything, I just thanked her when she said to have a good day. It was so weird. What do you say to that?!

May 8, 2015 at 5:48 amI actually thought the same thing about the Instagram changes. And I still find the change weird.
I love the salad jar idea! Very cool. :)

May 8, 2015 at 9:23 amI need to start making mason jar salads as they look so good and I Like that you can make them ahead! I’m still kind of in soup/warm hearty food mode even though the weather is warming up. And YES to disliking awkward conversations with store employees. I know they are being nice/friendly but I don’t want to make small talk with strangers.
Let’s see – awkward was going to a baby shower brunch and sitting across the table from the SIL of an ex-boyfriend… The other girls at the table wanted to hear all about Phil and it was just sort of awkward talking about it in in front of her, even though it’s been almost 5 years since I dated her brother-in-law… But on the flip side, awesome was seeing some of my college girl friends and celebrating the upcoming arrival of my good friend’s baby!

May 8, 2015 at 11:25 amMost of the time I have no problem with cashiers, but some days I just don’t have the energy for small talk. I love self check out for those days. Mason jar salads are so much fun! I make a bunch every Sunday to keep in the fridge for a quick lunch during the week. My favorite lately has been arugula with strawberry, celery, pine nuts and a balsamic vinegar. I have to have something crunchy and sweet in my salad.

May 9, 2015 at 11:37 amI feel the same way about IG – so unnecessary! And that mason jar salad looks so delicious!
Yay for running – I really want to get started on running as well. I just always think it’s not for me…I should really give it a try!
And, I should really go to bed earlier as well! 30 minutes more sleep would be amazing! Happy weekend, girl! xxx

May 11, 2015 at 12:04 pmI haven’t had much work in the last week and it’s been awesome to be able to go to bed early. I actually wake up feeling somewhat refreshed – and it’s so much easier to get out of bed before the kids are up when I actually go to bed at a decent hour :) I’m not a fan of chatty cashiers/clerks either. I mean, if I know them, it’s fine, but I really have no desire to tell a complete stranger my plans for the weekend!
