On someone’s birthday

Today is my dear friend Kim‘s birthday. It seem impossible that a whole year has gone by again… and even more impossible is the fact that I haven’t seen her for more than 12 months. When I was home over Christmas, we were supposed to meet up, but unexpected illness thwarted our plans and I am still bummed about it.

Kim’s one of the people you want to call your friend. Trust me on that one. Kim used to have a blog and I wish I could encourage you to head over and start getting to know her. You wouldn’t regret it. Unfortunately, she has been on an indefinite hiatus, which I guess means that I get to keep her for myself after all. We’ve been friends for 10 years now. As so many of my friendships these days, ours started out online, but quickly turned into an IRL friendship. The transition has never been easier with anyone. The fact that I can’t spend more time with her is a tragedy really, because she’s one of the people I can feel completely myself around and God knows how deprived I feel of real quality girl time. If you want somebody who sticks with you through thick and thin and listens when other people have long given up, she’s your girl.

I wish I could be there in person today to help celebrate the wonderful person that she is. Since I can’t, I am just going to extend some birthday wishes via the Internet. Because hey, that’s how I roll (plus, there is mail on its way. Naturally!).
