Monthly Goals | May + June

Uff, and then life got away from me and May and June were different from what I was expecting… and here I am summerizing my last two months of goals again.

PERSONAL

  • Read 2 books a month.
Yeah, no. I did not read anything in May, BUT I picked up books again in June (actually finished three). I am calling this a win.
  • Use facemasks weekly when I do my Sunday meditation.
It’s not a weekly habit (yet), but I manage to do it once per month. If nothing else, it feels good right after I take them off.
  • Prioritize sleep and rest.
After my incident in May, I am even more actively working on sleep and rest (especially the „rest“ part). I did hit my sleep goal of 7.5 hours and was even able to improve it in June. I mean, I’ll happily take more sleep. I also received 22 high or very high sleep scores in May, and 24 high or very high sleep score in June. I feel like overall, I cannot really complain about my sleep.
  • Regularly walk with a friend (virtually or in person).
Yes! I continue regular lunch walks and I’ve started after-dinner evening walks (since my episode of palpitations in May).
  • Find a running group, book club, or knitting group locally.
No progress made on that front. I really have to figure something out. I’d like to have some new local connections (I know I keep saying that, so don’t even listen to me. Haha.)

HEALTH/WELLNESS

  • Complete (another) 365 Peloton Streak.
I am keeping my streak going and have earned a “blue dot” for 2014 consecutive days.
  • Hit a weekly (not daily) average step count.
As a reminder, I am aiming for a weekly step count of 56,000 (an average of 8,000 daily steps). I stopped running for a couple of weeks in May and even though I tried to go for more walks, I didn’t quite hit my average step goal of 8000 steps. It’s ok, because I was able to pick it put again in June. I am not really paying attention to my daily steps, but just try to get into the mindset of running or walking most days.

  • Keep up my yoga streak.
I missed a couple of days, but I am keeping my (almost) daily yoga going.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Date nights with Jon once a month.
Jon is hard to get out these days, but we went out for a nice dinner for our anniversary in May. We also had a takeout night in June.
  • Visit Boston and meet up with my friend from Sydney.
As you know, that didn’t happen and I am still very sad about it. I will have to put this back on a future goals’ list.
  • Reach out to friends more.
Yes, I’ve been making an effort to set up calls with my (overseas) friends more often and it’s been nice to feel a bit more connected. It’s still hard sometimes to find times that works for both parties. Because of the time difference, calls have to take place on the weekend.
  • Continue monthly Teams Calls with Ingrid
Yes, I’ve been checking in with Ingrid both in May and June and we always have lots to talk about. I hope we will be able to continue our calls for a long, long time.

HOME

  • Estate Planning
I met with an estate planner/trust attorney but we mostly discussed the current status of my mother-in-law’s estate and I got some guidance on that situation. We are planning to go back and meet with them to discuss our own estate planning.
  • Declutter/organize garage
    Nope.

BONUS ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • I payed our quarterly estimated taxes. Not something I was looking forward to do, but it’s checked off my to-do list.
  • I had lunch with my co-workers and we went for many lunch time walks over the last two months.
  • After my health incident in early May, I’ve made changes to my workout and work schedules and I’ve been trying to focus on listening to my body and finding more pockets for rest and recovery.
  • I caught up with my ex-coworker and it was nice to hear about their new job and how things are going.
  • I started making my own granola again (variations of this recipe).

SOME NEW GOALS FOR JULY

  • Try three new recipes.
  • Keep up reading.
  • Run the Davis Moo-nlight Run.
  • Follow-up with my primary care doctor.
  • Go to the pool four times.
