I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2020
Five Things Friday: just five things I’m thinking about or things that made my week, or things that I otherwise feel like sharing.
Are you participating in a virtual Turkey Trot this year? I ran our local Turkey Trot, which literally goes through my neighborhood, last year and I was dead set on repeating it this year, but because of COVID, everything is canceled has gone virtual. Sacramento has one of the largest Turkey Trots, Run to Feed the Hungry, in the country and I think I am going to run, but I won’t officially register this year, but donate directly to the Sacramento Foodbank instead. I don’t need another race shirt for a race that doesn’t take place in person at this time.

California’s governor Gavin Newsom ordered a curfew for most of California’s counties starting tomorrow and it’s going to be in place for the next four weeks. We are ordered to remain in our homes between 10 p.m and 5 a.m. unless performing essential activities and I am on board with that. To be honest, this doesn’t change anything that Jon and I have been doing since March. I am sure it’s to head off any holiday gatherings, which leads me to ask – if you’re planning to get together with people for Thanksgiving, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?? If you need yet another warning that COVID is real, take it from Rachel Maddow, who completely opened up on her show last night (watch these 8 minutes, for the love of all things good).

Have you started decorating for Christmas yet? I am usually a firm believer of not decorating until after Thanksgiving or the first day of Advent (which falls onto the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend this year), and while I haven’t decorated yet, I give EVERYONE a pass this time (nice of me, I know) because if the holidays are the one thing that makes you happy this year, I am all for decorating and listening to Christmas music as early as you like (share your decorations with me!).

Happy birthday to Joe Biden. Stay strong and healthy. That’s all I am asking for.

Do you know the company MudLOVE? No? Come back next week and I’ll tell you a little bit about them and their awesome mission.
TGIF!

November 20, 2020 at 8:16 pmI’m all for decorating early this year. I keep asking bryan to take the decorations down and I get that it’s early but I need some cheer these days. I didn’t realize California had early curfew in place. It wouldn’t impact us either but maybe NJ should file suit. As you know we are laying low this year; I don’t understand all these people having big get togethers, I really don’t. And I saw that about Rachel Maddow’s wife 😔

November 21, 2020 at 7:07 amI’ve already started decorating. I needed it this year between work and life and *gesticulates wildly* whatever this is. It brings me a bit of peace, especially in the evenings, to sit with nothing but the Christmas lights from the trees illuminating a room. It’s had a very calming effect on me, even on the evenings when I feel like the world is falling apart. (Let’s not talk about Texas and its lack of response to the surging numbers.)

November 22, 2020 at 3:18 pmYes, I feel the same way… we have to make this time as cozy and peaceful as possible (as early as we can ;))

November 23, 2020 at 1:31 pmI also decorated super early. I usually wait until when you do but I needed something bright and cheery in our house. Luckily the weekend I wanted to decorate, I didn’t have any flares in my hands so that seemed like another sign to decorate. I’ve had flares since so I am glad I got it done. We haven’t done any outdoor decorations but I might order/pick-up all the stuff I need for that and have my mom do it while she’s here. She wants to help out and is much better at things like that!
My parents are still celebrating w/ my brother, sister and their kids. I just hope they all stay healthy. My parents are getting their covid tests on Monday after Thanksgiving and then come here Wednesday for my C-section on Thursday. We have a back-up plan if they get sick, though.

November 24, 2020 at 5:58 amWe currently have a mix of Fall/Thanksgiving/Christmas going on at my house, though not too much Christmas yet. I never care if people celebrate the holidays early, but especially this year. We need all the joy we can find!

November 24, 2020 at 11:27 amCan’t wait to read about MudLove… I have seen some of their stuff on IG, and loved most of it.
No decorating yet, but the candles should be here soon. So it’ll at least *smell* like the holidays? :)
