Yesterday was my birthday. It was nice that my birthday fell on a weekend for a few different reasons, because
a) I didn’t have to go to work,
b) I was (theoretically) able to sleep in (but due to DST, I was up at 8 a.m. (which was technically 7 a.m. for my body),
c) I had time to bake birthday muffins,
d) I was able to cozy up in my bed when the first birthday wishes rolled in,
e) I was able to skype with my whole family! As always, I missed everybody terribly and I will never get used to celebrating my birthday without my sister, but at least thanks to technology these days, I was able to tap into the party that was going on at my sister’s place (where, as always, everybody was gathered, because after all it’s her birthday, too!) and see them all ‘face-to-face’!
My dear friend Kim sent ordered me those beautiful prints. In case you’re not so familiar in recognizing the outlines of places: left is California, right is Germany = my two loves.
The California print was on my Etsy wishlist for a while, the Germany print came as a (very unexpected, but oh-so-fitting) surprise. I absolutely ADORE them and cant’ wait to put them up on my wall in a nice frame.
My sweet friend Maegan sent me some super-cutely wrapped gifts (that she had posted and that I had adored on Instagram about a week ago). They contained some very cute stuff for my kitchen (coasters, dish towels and a book about goat cheese. I LOVE goat cheese! How did you know, Maegan?!).
I got some gift cards from two other dear friends, stationary ♥ from J, and I’ve heard that there are a few more packages currently in the mail. I also got a ton of Facebook birthday wishes, some WhatsApp and text messages, a handful of emails, and two phone calls! Thank you all for making me feel so very loved!
It was beautiful outside yesterday, too and we went for a long walk in the afternoon.
Birthday sparkly shoes.
For dinner, I chose Sushi. We went to “Tamaya Sushi” in Midtown and stuffed our faces with delicious sushi rolls (for the record, we had four – but only two are pictures here). Also not pictured is the raspberry lemon drop that I had in my honor. Heh.
I first had thought about taking a trip somewhere this weekend, but in the end, I decided to make this the world’s mellowest birthday in the history of birthdays and I really liked it that way!
Thanks again for your birthday wishes, for reading here and for being friends ♥

March 11, 2013 at 12:04 pmHappy belated birthday :) Nathan and I always celebrate our birthdays on a Saturday as well as our “real” birthdays, if the date happens to fall on another day of the week. We call it “Birthday Adventure Day” and turn it into a whole day of fun! I think everyone should have their birthday off work!

I had my first sushi last saturday and
though it was from a discounter it wasn’t bad.
I’m wondering how it would be if I would have
it fresh… mhhhh
