Five Things Friday: just five things I’m thinking about or things that made my week, or things that I otherwise feel like sharing.
If you’ve been waiting for the email with your swap partner for the Secret SANta Swap, I apologize for the delay. Today got busy (with my mother-in-law arriving for the weekend ) and I didn’t get around to matching all the swap partners yet, so I am taking the liberty of extending the sign up deadline until tomorrow (Sat, 11/23), but I plan to send out the email with swap partners this weekend! Stay tuned!

California is experiencing its first atmospheric river of the season and it’s been raining nonstop here for the last couple of days. I have a long run planned for tomorrow and hope to be able to catch a break in the rain to get it done. I guess, I shouldn’t complain about the rain because Germany had its first snow this week. How’s the weather where you are right now?

The Feedly saga continues: ever since I installed the WebSub plugin, one of my RSS feeds (http://www.theinbetweenismine.com/feed) seemed to have updated instantly. The other two URLs (https://theinbeweenismine.com/feed and http://theinbetweenismine.com/feed) were still delayed. I think Feedly needs to fetch the RSS feed once for the plugin to get triggered and subscribed, and Feedly finally seemed to have fetched the first of the two again this week. So I hope this one will get updated more or less instantly from now on as well. If you could let me know if my blog posts have shown up for any of these URLs, let me know.

I went to Trader Joe’s early this morning to get all the grocery shopping out of the way and usually, Friday mornings are the ideal time to go grocery shopping because there’s nobody at the store. Not today though – today Trader Joe’s was a zoo at 8:30 a.m. Is this the pre-Thanksgiving shopping rush? I secured a chicken and all the fixings for our pre-Thanksgiving dinner this weekend and per the recommendation of a dear friend, I picked up a bag of Cornbread Crisps. I am curious to try them.

Tomorrow afternoon, I am probably taking my mother-in-law to Ikea for a few hours. It’s a good place to go on a rainy day. Besides, I have a running list of odds and ends that we need for our new place and my I know that my mother-in-law is always up for a trip to Ikea. (Who isn’t?)
Happy Weekend, friends. Any plans?
I am doing NaBloPoMo this month. 30 blog posts in 30 days. Come join me. #nablopomo2024 Links to the Participants List and NaBloPoMo2024 Blog Post Ideas! Happy writing!

November 22, 2024 at 11:19 pmI am so excited to learn who my swap partner in the Secret Santa mug swap is going to be. I have some half formed teas for gifts but I need to know more.
A trip to Ikea sounds fun but also exhausting.
I have had your Feedly posts pop up twice so besides the plugin one other is showing up. Unfortunetely I can not tell which one.

November 23, 2024 at 5:29 amI am always up for a trip to Ikea! The closest one is two hours away, so it’s not a frequent stop.

November 23, 2024 at 6:48 amI guess I’m not always up for a trip to Ikea. I’ve never been. I don’t know why, but it has just never happened. There’s one less than 10 minutes from my house, I think – but you know, I’ve never actually been. Sorry about the rain. It snowed here a decent amount on Thursday. Bummer is that Reg’s bball game that was minutes from Mini’s college was cancelled. She and her friends planned to attend. Even if it’s rescheduled – who knows if it’ll be on an evening when they can get there. Such a bummer.

November 23, 2024 at 7:08 amHappy weekend, San! It’s grey and drizzly here but nothing to complain about. Gosh, I haven’t been to Ikea in forever. Wait, I’m not even sure if they have one here! I should look that up.

November 23, 2024 at 7:16 amI hope your trip to Ikea is fun! I think I have only ever been there one time with a friend who needed something, so I don’t think I even bought anything. I have heard that their Swedish meatballs are good though! It is raining here (Seattle) but not as bad as it is in CA; I think we are getting about 0.3 inches in a day vs the 3 inches that my brother said was expected in Santa Rosa. Also I just got a FLOOD warning for Oakland this morning!
Re Feedly, I was getting nothing for you, then I got like 15 posts all at once a few days ago. Now they seem to be coming in in a fairly timely manner!

November 23, 2024 at 8:02 amFeedly is now working for me for your blog, and it didn’t for a while! But past couple weeks all the posts have shown up. Very mysterious! At least you are approaching taper, right? I do think running one LR in the rain can be good just in case you end up getting rain on race day! Our weather is the opposite – it just finally finally FINALLY got nice after a seemingly endless summer and I enjoyed so much running without overheating this morning!!!

November 23, 2024 at 8:03 amOh, and I freaking *love* IKEA. We have one pretty close (like 15-20 min from our house). We actually do need to go soon (need a new sofa that can be a bed)!

November 23, 2024 at 8:48 amYour Santa swap is amazing!, so wonderful of you to organize I’ll have to look out for this next year – we’re also having a nationwide postal strike at the moment, so that’s not helpful. I love IKEA but not the crowds on the weekends.

November 23, 2024 at 8:57 amTrader Joe’s around us are always packed (and overwhelming) – I’ve never timed a trip right, haha! This weekend, my daughter has 4 performances of the same show, so her dad and I are gearing up to watch each and every one of them 🤭

November 23, 2024 at 9:16 amIkea is such a fun store! There’s not one near me, but I’ve been to a couple of them in different cities. There’s a odd book called The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe
by Romain Puertolas. Why bring that up? I don’t know. It was amusing. Looking forward to the gift exchange name reveal!

November 23, 2024 at 11:06 amWe are FINALLY having beautiful weather! Down to the 50s at night, 70s during the day. It’s supposed to warm up again for Thanksgiving (of course) but I’m enjoying it for now.
I think it would be a good policy to avoid Trader Joe’s between now and Thanksgiving! A trip to Ikea on a rainy day sounds nice though.

November 23, 2024 at 12:37 pmFeedly seems hit or miss. It’s working today, but wasn’t for about a week. For a while I was getting doubles of all your posts (because I had two feeds and they were both working), so I removed one (can’t remember which) and then the other one stopped working…but now it’s working again. But I get email alerts anytime you publish a new post…so I don’t ever miss them now.

November 23, 2024 at 4:23 pmI love IKEA, and feel proud that it’s Swedish.
Here in Sweden it’s been snowing and getting colder. -4c right now. Brr.

November 24, 2024 at 7:26 amWe had our first snow this week but I missed it since I was in NYC (where the weather was beautiful until the last day when it rained but even that wasn’t bad). It melted very quickly but it’s much colder here now with highs in the 30s and dropping to highs in the 20s next week. I don’t mind it because it makes it feel like the Christmas season is upon us. It feels weird to have moderate temps and Christmas trees up, at least as a midwesterner.
Your blog has been showing up in my feed in a timely manner! I hope the issue is fixed!
Enjoy your early meal with your MIL!! Phil just headed to the grocery stores with an extremely LONG list. We bring a few sides to Thanksgiving and then are hosting my family for a bday party for Taco on Friday so it’s a BIG list.

November 24, 2024 at 10:38 amI LOVE going to IKEA and my husband hates it, so I haven’t been in years. I don’t even know where the closest one is anymore. If we ever meet up, San, we should definitely go to IKEA together!
Alexandra
November 24, 2024 at 12:31 pmOh, I do the same thing with my MiL, I take her shopping somewhere were we can spend a few hours browsing. Although I haven’t been in an Ikea store in decades. I miss the fun of wandering around all the aisle.

November 27, 2024 at 6:11 amMan, I love IKEA. I haven’t been in so long so I need to make a trip there soon. It’s overwhelming in the best possible way.
Your blog posts seem to be coming into Feedly on a regular basis now. Fingers crossed that holds true!
