1: Hello November. It’s NaBloPoMo.

Did you all have a nice Halloween? Did you eat too much candy? Did you watch the World Series? (OMG! Game 7, here we come!)

Ok, so now that we got that out of the way, let’s cut to the chase: it’s November, peeps. IT’S NOVEMBER! Yes, that requires yelling. I just don’t know how it’s possible that we’re almost done with this year. (I know, I know, I say that every year, but what if it’s true?)

Let’s see, what’s going on this month:

+ Besides the fact that I feel like I am running out of time (as always), I am looking forward to November just for the mere reason that I will be enjoying not one, but two 4-day weekends. I’ll never say no to that. I am hoping that I’ll be able to use the time to relax some and also prepare for the holidays.

+ I am looking forward to Thanksgiving. We’re probably going to stay put again this year, but I don’t mind. I like quiet Thanksgivings at home. I like cooking a little feast for ourselves and enjoying some quality time together.

+ The rainy season will be starting this month (we’re expecting the first rain front on Friday) and I am curious to see how much rain we’ll get this winter. We’re always a bit in a conundrum here in California. We need the rain (after a few years of drought), but last year, we got quite a bit too much for our infrastructure (dams and leeves) to handle it. I am hoping for a wet, but manageable winter.

+ And guess what November also means, guys? It’s NaBloPoMo again. Well, at least I think it is NaBloPoMo. I am not sure if it still officially exists anymore.

In the last couple of years, it seems that it has gotten harder and harder to find “official” information on National Blog Posting Month. What was first launched by Eden Kennedy in 2006 as a ‘joke’, because she had failed at NaNoWriMo the previous year, grew into a bit of a movement. 30 days of blogging in November and thousands of bloggers participated. There were official blogrolls and the chance to win prizes for those who stuck it out. Eden handed over the reigns for NaBloPoMo to BlogHer in 2011 and they’ve been hosting NaBloPoMo with blogroll and writing prompts since, but for some reason, in the last few years badges and blogrolls were announced super-duper-late and this year, I haven’t been able to find any information for an official NaBloPoMo. Did they abandon the project?

I know that people are still doing NaBloPoMo every year in November. I know because I already read that some people are committing to it this year and I’ve participated since its beginnings, so I will definitely keep up the tradition. In case there is no official badge this year, feel free to grab the one I created for this post and use it on your blog as well to promote NaBloPoMo.

I was going to create a link up here today as well, so in case you want to jump on the NaBloPoMo bandwagon, you can add your blog, but then I googled again a couple of days ago and it looks like Aimie at Blissful Lemon beat me to it. I am excited though that there are more people keeping the November NaBloPoMo tradition going. So, if you want to add your blog to her link-up list, do it here and check out the other participants while you’re over there.

She also has a handy link with blog post ideas, if you need a little inspiration.

I hope you’re excited to come here a little more frequently this month. I’ll try and put some good posts together. As always, if you have any questions for me or topics you’d like me to blog about, leave your thoughts in the comments.

What’s going on with you in November?

  1. I can’t believe it’s November already too! This year has gone by so fast! I love Thanksgiving too, we have birthdays around then and it’s just such a festive time of year. We keep our celebration fairly low key too, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! I’m glad to hear that people are still doing NaBloPoMo. I did it a few years ago, but I haven’t in a long time! My problem is I rarely post on the weekends! Anyway, I think it’s great that you are doing it and I hope it goes well!

    1. Haha, I usually don’t post on the weekends either, but for NaBloPoMo I go all out :) It’s only once a year, so it’s a fun challenge!

  2. Yeah yeah yeah I am so excited for November because I have big big plans. Yes NaBloPoMo and then I do an advent calendar where 25 people each make 25 somethings and swap around. But then. It is NOVEMBER ALREADY. How did that happen?! Seriously. I am not done with this year. Haven’t had a real vacation yet and such… Anyhow looking forward to all your posts this months. And thanks for the shoutout.
    Happy day to you,
    Tobia

    1. I am so glad you’re participating! Oh, and tell me about that advent calendar thing… I think I heard about something like this where people make 25 things and everybody swaps around. It’s sounds like fun, but also a lot of work?! Haha. Anyway, tell me how it works!

      1. It is a lot of work. I’ve been doing it for three years now (actually I took a break last year.) Yes you do make 25 things of the same. Each person is assigned one number. Then send it to one person who is repacking it all so everyone gets each number. And then on December 1 you start opening. I have mentioned it in previous posts usually in the Happiness reviews if you want to have a look https://www.blissfullemon.com/nablopomo-2017-link-up/?addlinkmessage=8 and the ones before.
Maybe we can do an international one next year… But we would need to start in August hahaha

  3. Yay, someone else who’s doing NaBloPoMo! I was lost too, as I’d been on the BlogHer site and not seen anything about this year’s challenge. I’ll be sure to check the link from Blissful Lemon as it would be nice to keep up to date with other people who are taking part. Good luck with it!

    1. So glad you’re doing NaBloPoMo!

  4. I’m so not ready for November but what can I do???
Some Rain for California sounds good, but please not as much as we had last year!!
Very excited to read something from / about you here every single day of November!

    1. Yeah, we don’t want as much rain as last year either… I hope all the dams are fixed and ready for the winter!
And thanks for always coming by and reading and commenting here <3

  5. It’s crazy that there are only two more months in the year. It’s been a pretty crappy one world-wide though, so I’m ready for a fresh new start. Good luck with blogging everyday! I tend to blog five days a week, so I’m CLOSE to that already. haha Not sure I could do it for all 30 days, but I’m excited to see all your posts.

    -Lauren

    1. Blogging 5 days a week is no easy feat, so kudos to you. I tend to blog 3 days a week on average, but don’t have a fixed schedule, so I always enjoy the challenge in November :)

  6. Happy November! I can’t believe it’s here already. I’m excited to follow along with your blogging project. I love that everyone is working on writing more this month. :)

    1. Thanks! I love it too that everyone is working on writing more in November… although I don’t understand why someone picked November, as it always seems to be such a busy month for everyone ;)

  7. Hey Sandra,
I’m participating in something similar, only called Nano Poblano. :) I’m going to try and write everyday but we’ll see how that works out. :)

You’re not alone – I always feel like I’m running out of time. Where does it go?!?!?

Have a great day hun! :)

    1. I guess, Nano Poblano is a splitter group from NaBloPoMo? Might have to check that out :)

      1. I guess? I have no idea. I’ve seen a handful of November blogger challenges but I saw this and immediately it spoke to me. We’ll see how the month goes. Lol!

  8. Yay! I love that you are still doing NaBloPoMo – it’s fun to see posts from you every day in November. :) I am doing a modified version of NaNoWriMo this year, just trying to spend 30 minutes every day working on my novel. I need to get into a daily writing habit!

In November, I’m looking forward to spending four days in Asheville with my favorite ladies, Thanksgiving, listening to Christmas music, holiday drinks at Starbucks (!), and turning 30 at the end of the month!

    1. I know you’ve been doing NaNoWriMo for a few years now and I love that so many people take up the challenge each November. :)
Have so much fun in Asheville and your big 3-0 is coming up, yay!! The 30’s are awesome!

  9. I love that you’re participating in it this year!! I did it last year and it was fun and I felt like I was accomplishing something major by blogging every day. Sure, there were times when I didn’t know what to publish but them’s the breaks for taking on such a big effort. Excited to stop here more frequently 😊

Hope you enjoyed the World Series (though I’m sure you were rooting for the other team)… watched a few games early on when the Yankees were still in. Hope you’re having a great week, momma!!

    Xoxo

    1. Yes, it’s definitely a nice challenge every year to post something every day for a whole month…. :) I wish I had been reading your blog already last year when you participated…

  10. I can’t believe it’s November either. Thanksgiving might be my favorite holiday so I love this month – even though it means winter is coming. It’s already really cooled off here as highs are in the 30-40s. But I know these temps will feel balmy by the time January rolls around so I am trying not to complain too much!!

I have never done NaBloPoMo. It just seems like such a commitment! I’m a 2-3 posts a week kind of blog! But having writing prompts would definitely help!

    1. Enjoy the balmy temperatures, while they last, I guess? It has just started to cool down here a bit and we’ll be getting the first rain this weekend… and I am a tad excited about it :)

  11. I feel like NaBloPoMo is a blogging institution and I’m glad you’re keeping it up! I’m hopelessly behind since my Mexican vacation, but I’m looking forward to catching up now that I’m back!
