Hello March

March 7, 2016 filed under: birthday, family

Edited with Phonto. https://phon.to

It’s my birthday month! Hooray. I love me some March. Especially when good things are on the horizon that will make me completely forget about the fact that I am turning 40 this week. I mean, WHAT?

I love birthdays (and think they need to be appropriately celebrated – every single one of them!), so I won’t let the fact that I am getting older (don’t we all!) ruin that. Three more workdays separate me from a rest of the month of fun!

On Thursday, I am taking the day off (I think birthdays should be mandatory personal holidays, don’t you agree?) and will start my day off with a relaxation massage. I had this gift card for the longest time and am finally putting it to good use.
Then J and I will head…. well, somewhere. I haven’t decided what I want to do with the rest of the day, but I am certain that I want to do something that I won’t forget. I don’t want to think back in a few years and scratch my head because I can’t remember what I did on my special day.

Unfortunately this week of all weeks, it looks like California will get dumped with lots of rain. I am not complaining, we need it, but I was kinda hoping for a sunny birthday, so we can go somewhere and enjoy the outdoors. Right now, that doesn’t seem to be in the cards. It’s been pouring all  weekend and it’s supposed to stay this way for the rest of the week. We’ll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Then on Friday, I will be heading home to Germany! (ALL THE EXCLAMATION MARKS!!!)

I’ll get to spend my birthday (weekend) with my sister and then some more precious time with my whole family (and part of that time we’ll get to go play in the snow in the Alps for a few days!). I am beyond thrilled. I don’t get to spend many birthdays with my sister anymore, but if you grew up sharing your birthday with a sibling, it’s kind of a bummer to not be able to. The last time we were able to spend our birthday together was when we turned 30 and now we are making it happen again for our 40th. I think that at least sharing our big birthdays should be an unspoken rule (but I wouldn’t mind if it happened more frequently than that!).

So, this is going to be my March. Pretty amazing, I’d say.  Do you think you can beat that?

So excited for you that you get to go back to Germany! What a perfect birthday gift.

My birthday is in August, & I haaaate the heat, which battles with my love of birthdays & celebrations. I’m always a little mixed on my birthday!

Wow, that sounds like a FANTASTIC month! I’m so happy for you to be able to spend your birthday with your sister – and have a visit with your friends and family! My sister who lives in Calgary and I are hoping to be able to fly home to NB this summer to surprise our other sister for her birthday – I think the last time I celebrated my birthday with a member of my immediate family was twelve years ago!!!

Anyway, I hope you have a great trip – and a fantastic birthday!!!

My jaw literally dropped here at work when I read that you are going to Germany for your birthday. SAN! I am so, so happy that you are doing this and that you get to ring in a new decade with your sister. BEST BIRTHDAY PRESENT EVER!

Also, it’s blowing my mind that you are turning 40. I would have never in a million years guessed that!
