Here we are. We’ve entered the last month of 2015 and I don’t know how yet another year is almost over. I was just talking about this with my friend last weekend and how the last few years have flown by at a perceived faster rate.
I am usually looking forward to December. I love the holiday season and anticipate it with glee. This year, December has totally snuck up on me, though. I feel like I have been behind on everything ever since my family left in July. And so much has happened in the last few weeks – mostly good things, happy things (that I’ll tell you about soon!), but it’s been a very unusual holiday season for us so far.
We usually don’t travel for Thanksgiving and it’s usually a low-key weekend where I get a lot of Christmas preparations done. Not so this year with a surprise visit from my dear (childhood) friend, S. Don’t get me wrong, it was amazing to (finally) have someone (other than my family) visit from Germany and even more amazing to host someone for
We cooked a lovely meal, drank tea and wine, chatted the hours away, and took a spontaneous overnight trip up to the winter wonderland that is Lake Tahoe right now, but it also meant that I didn’t get anything Christmas-related done.
The next weekend is going to look the same, as we’ll will be hanging out (and exploring California) with S some more and taking advantage of this opportunity to spend time together for as long as she is here (she’ll be leaving on the 16th).
I guess I’ll just have to go with the flow this holiday season!
Don’t forget to sign up for my holiday card exchange if you haven’t already!!
