hello, december.

Here we are. We’ve entered the last month of 2015 and I don’t know how yet another year is almost over. I was just talking about this with my friend last weekend and how the last few years have flown by at a perceived faster rate.

I am usually looking forward to December. I love the holiday season and anticipate it with glee. This year, December has totally snuck up on me, though. I feel like I have been behind on everything ever since my family left in July. And so much has happened in the last few weeks – mostly good things, happy things (that I’ll tell you about soon!), but it’s been a very unusual holiday season for us so far.

We usually don’t travel for Thanksgiving and it’s usually a low-key weekend where I get a lot of Christmas preparations done. Not so this year with a surprise visit from my dear (childhood) friend, S. Don’t get me wrong, it was amazing to (finally) have someone (other than my family) visit from Germany and even more amazing to host someone for ThanksFriendsgiving.

We cooked a lovely meal, drank tea and wine, chatted the hours away, and took a spontaneous overnight trip up to the winter wonderland that is Lake Tahoe right now, but it also meant that I didn’t get anything Christmas-related done.

The next weekend is going to look the same, as we’ll will be hanging out (and exploring California) with S some more and taking advantage of this opportunity to spend time together for as long as she is here (she’ll be leaving on the 16th).

I guess I’ll just have to go with the flow this holiday season!

Don’t forget to sign up for my holiday card exchange if you haven’t already!!

  2. I’m going to go ahead and say that choosing to go to Lake Tahoe over doing Christmas stuff was definitely the way to go!! GORGEOUS!

  3. Your place settings are so beautiful!

  5. December snuck up on me, too! I did manage to get my Christmas cards out embarrassingly early but I really wanted to make sure people *hopefully* noticed my slight address change. Chances are people didn’t but I did all I could on my end. I am actually done with my Christmas shopping this year but only because all but 2 presents were bought online. And we have kind of cut back on presents in my family which I am totally ok with!

Enjoy the time with your friend! I know the feeling of trying to struggle to enjoy the moment while stressing about how you are going to get everything else done!!

  6. Love your place settings for Thanksgiving, so pretty! And I’m with you, I’m so not ready for this month, it has definitely snuck up on me and I’m trying not to panic, ha.

  7. I LOVE your place settings! So pretty! Looks like straight out of a magazine! And that snow covered landscape – perfection! Wishing a wonderful last month of 2015! Hugs xxx

  8. I can’t believe how quickly this year is flown by! It’s amazing how time seems to pass so quickly as I get older. Holidays just sneak up on me, and somehow a year can feel like both an extremely short and unbelievably long period of time all at once.

Your place settings are so gorgeous! Love it.

  9. Cannot believe it’s already December, and just over two weeks until Christmas!? Lake Tahoe looks lovely! My dad used to live in Nevada and Lake Tahoe was one of my favorite places to visit.
