I am …
… in a little bit of a shock that May is almost over. I mean, seriously, where did this month first half of the year go?
… totally in love with my new sandals (and they’re comfortable, too. Double-win!)
… thankful for some new connections that have slowly but surely grown into friendships over the last couple of months.
… always super-happy when I find a letter or card from someone in my mailbox. If you want to know the way to my heart, send me snail mail and you’ll be my bff for life!
… looking forward to spending the weekend in Southern California. I’ll (hopefully) go thrift-shopping with my MIL, meet with a new friend, go to the beach and just have a good time. Sometimes I really miss living in West LA. J and I had a good time there and I loved being so close to Santa Monica and the beach.
… curious what everyone else thinks about the book “MWF seeks BFF” by Rachel Bertsche, which we will be discussing at the Stratejob Bookclub meeting on Monday. I can say as much as that I could very much relate to Rachel’s endeavor to find new friends in a new city. It’s not the easiest thing to do once we’re out of school/college. In fact, it turns out to be quite hard.
… missing my niece and nephew a lot. My sister keeps sending me these adorable pictures and videos and I just realize every single time how much I am missing out on. Sigh. Can’t wait for our next skype session (hopefully) next week!
… stoked about Baseball season. (Go, Red Sox!)
… getting into the new HBO series “Veep”. First we thought it to be a bit silly, but now it’s been kind of growing on J and I. We’ll keep watching for now.
… hating a little bit of miscommunication that I had with a friend due to ‘cut-off’ text messages, missed phone calls and stupid assumptions. Always talk it out, peeps. It’s much better than letting bad feelings fester.
… happy to see my little potted vegetable garden grow. I am a total newbie to gardening and I really hope that something will come off it. I’ve been taking pictures of the progress (I am only in week 3 so far, so there is not much to see yet), which I will share at a later point.
… ridiculously excited about a trip to New England that is in the works for this summer. It’s been long overdue! We’re going to see some friends that we haven’t seen in a couple of years and then we’re also going to go up to Boston (my favorite city in the whole wide world!).

May 17, 2012 at 5:14 amSuper cute sandals! I used to read Rachel’s blog, because we share the same city, but stopped reading it after a while when it became clear she wasn’t interested in making personal connections (wait, did I tell you that already?!). And you must tell me when you’re going to be in Boston, because we’re going to Cape Cod this summer and I might be able to get to Boston if there was good reason to be there. =)

May 17, 2012 at 5:25 amI love that skirt – and the fact that it has pockets! I am all about dresses and skirts with pockets!
I am currently…
– feeling guilty that I won’t be going to my parents’ lake cabin over memorial day weekend as that means I miss my brother and his family’s visit home. They said they understand that I need to stay home and study but I still feel bad as I haven’t seen them since thanksgiving :(
– thankful for the friendships in my life – including my friendship with you! I am lucky to have so many wonderful people in my life that care about me, encourage me, and believe in me.
– so tired. I just need a solid 10 hours of sleep. But my body won’t let me sleep in, even on weekends.
– looking forward to my long vacation in July. I will spend a long weekend at my parents’ lake home and then fly to british Columbia for amber’s wedding :)

May 17, 2012 at 8:21 amUm, I’m sorry. I thought you said Go Red Sox? You meant Giants. I know, sometimes mistakes happen. Wow, it seems like you have a fun summer planned — LA, Back East, your garden! I love Boston; my Mom’s family and my boyfriend are from there, so I go often. It’s a great town! When will you be there? Maybe I will be there too!

May 17, 2012 at 12:40 pmThe first thing I thought when I started reading this post was “Where did those sandals come from?” So cute!
I love Boston, too. I used to live in Rhode Island and we spent a lot of time in Boston. It is such a wonderful city.
I miss my nieces and nephew so much! They live back in DC so I don’t get to see them very often. But I’m going there in 2 weeks! So excited.

May 17, 2012 at 2:15 pmNice sandals! I seriously can’t believe how fast this first half of the year is going either. Wasn’t it JUST Christmas? Goodness. I mean, I’m happy it’s summer don’t get me wrong. But the older I get the faster time goes!!
It must be so hard with your niece and nephew so far away. I can’t even imagine only seeing my nephew through Skype. I wish family could be teleported over at any moment! I’ve always wanted to pick up and move far away but I think it’s my family that has always been a restraint for me personally. Who knows though, maybe one day I’ll be traveling the world and saying hello to them from afar, too!
