Today, exactly two years ago, three of my favorite people arrived in LA for a fantastic 3,5 weeks-vacation.
Basti (my cousin, who’s like a little brother to me), my Mom and Dad
It truly feels like it was just a few weeks ago, but it has been two whole freakin’ years. Unbelievable. I love to think back to the wonderful time that we spent together. It was shortly before I started my job back up in Northern California and a perfect ending to my time of unemployment :)
With all honesty, I can say that this trip was probably one of the best times I ever had. I am not even kidding (even though I’ve had quite some good other times).
I might repeat myself (shut up!) if I say that I am one of the very rare creatures that never gets enough of their family. I mean, never ever. You could lock me in a single room with them for a week and we wouldn’t be scratching each others eyes out. I don’t know how many people can actually, honestly say that.
My parents had planned to come and visit this summer again, as their birthday gift to themselves (they both turn 60 this fall). A stupid unexpected bill crushed their dream and much sadder than I am for myself, I am for my parents who had really been looking forward to this trip. We had such a fantastic time together the last time they were here and we would have very much liked to repeat it.
For now, all we can do is reminisce…
Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel
Basti and Sandra in Ventura
Flagstaff, Arizona
Grand Canyon, Arizona
Have a guess :) (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Zabriskie Point… (it was so hot, you didn’t even notice that you were sweating!)

Balboa Park, San Diego, California
Frappuccino Time… in La Jolla, California
in the Rehearsal Studio in Westwood, California
Hollywood, California
4th of July BBQ in the park

exhausted:)
North Beach San Francisco, California
Monterey, California
Highway 1

June 22, 2009 at 11:53 pmOh man, I still remember how I followed your travel blog back then and how much I loved it! Might have been a tad bit jealous as well, what a dream vacation!
I’m thinking back one year a lot these days, too! Today a year ago we swam with the dolphin :-)
It’s so sad to hear that your parents can’t come over this year but I’m sure there will be another opportunity!

June 23, 2009 at 2:24 amOh no, that’s bad news. I am so sorry for you and of course your parents that they can’t make it.
Time flies the past 3 years. Before you have time to take summer in it’s autumn again and soon winter. Every year passes by quicker then the last one.

Sorry your parents can’t come to visit this summer. Are you going to Germany instead? Or are you saving your vacation days for Christmas?
