
Another half marathon is in the books. This week was a taper week, so lots of low key activities, and then I ran the local Shamrock’n Half Marathon for the first time this year on Sunday! It was a fantastic event. Race day weather couldn’t have been better and the Team Wilpers Half Marathon Training Plan delivered and I finished with a new PR!
Monday

Today was my birthday and I hit another Peloton milestone: my 1000th run! Great timing!

Jon gave me a new Garmin for my birthday and I am in love with it. It’s such a step up from my previous Forerunner model (which I had for 10+ years). It still needs to get to know me though: it definitely thought I was about 80 seconds faster per mile on the treadmill than I actually was. Hopefully, the new calibration feature will help.

Today was Tanja’s departure day and we took advantage in the morning to go for a walk (around my neighborhood) and grab some brunch before I took her to the airport.

I had a bunch of errands to run and so the day turned out to be an “active” rest day before my race.

Today was race day! I started my morning with a Peak Performance Meditation – to get into the right mindset for the day – and left for my half marathon around 6:30 am. I had an incredible day and finished with a brandnew PR! Recap to come!
The rest of the day was for recovery: some light pool swimming, restorative yoga and meditation.
