13: The 10th annual Secret SANta Swap 2025

If you’ve been a regular reader for a while, you know that I have organized a little gift exchange every holiday season for the last few years.

Well, I am happy to announce that I’ll be hosting again this year.

I originally started this gift exchange as a “mug swap”, because I love mugs and you can never have enough cute mugs. But I have loosened up the rules in recent years, and it’s now a regular holiday gift exchange where you are asked to put together a little surprise package for your swap partner. The main objective is to put a smile on someone else’s face during the holiday season.

The swap is set up in ‘Secret Santa’-style, which means you won’t know upfront who the sender of your package will be. Of course, you can reveal yourself to your assigned partner, if you’d like, when you send out your package. In the sign-up form, I will ask you to give your Secret SANta some help by answering a few basic questions and sharing your blog/social media account so they can get to know you a little (in case they don’t already).

As in previous years, the swap will be open to people in the United States, Canada, and Germany. I need at least two sign-ups per country that I can match with each other. I briefly considered asking if people would be willing to ship internationally, but sadly, the situation with shipping internationally has gotten worse, not better, this year, so I apologize to any international readers who would like to participate.

How to participate

  • Sign up to participate (see link below). Sign-up closes on November 20th.
  • I’ll send out an email on November 21st to each participant. You’ll receive a name + address, plus some information about your swap partner.
  • You have roughly two weeks to put together a little surprise package for your Secret SANta Swap partner. My suggestion is to spend around $10-15 (plus postage) or whatever you’re comfortable with.
  • Please send out your package by Saturday, December 7th (to allow plenty of time for delivery). Hopefully, that will give you enough time to shop and get the package on its way. I am hoping that everybody receives their package before Christmas.
  • The swap is open to US residents and participants in Germany and Canada (if I can get at least two people per country to sign up).
  • Last but not least, I’d love it if you shared your Secret Santa gift(s) with us on your blog or Instagram with the hashtag: #SecretSANtaSwap2025. As always, I am hoping to put together a swap recap post after everybody has received their gifts!

So, if you’re interested in participating this year, please sign up through this link:

Please remember: if you sign up, you’re expected to purchase (a) gift(s) and send a package to your Secret Santa partner by December, 7th. If you can’t commit to this deadline, please be fair to the other participants and maybe consider signing up another time.

I hope you join in a little bit of holiday fun!
And please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions!

  1. As much as I have loved doing this swap, between life activities and my complete and utter lack of faith in the Canadian Postal Service this year, I’m going to sit it out again.
BUT, I just want to commend you on organizing such a fun, festive activity. It is just such a fun idea. Gold stars to you, my friend.

    1. Understandable, my friend. Thanks for the support though.

  2. I was traumatized by the Canada Post strike screwing this up last year, but if Nicole wants to do it I will – with the proviso that we kibosh it if another strike happens. Brb, going to send out my Christmas cards right now.

    1. OH, I know, the Postal Service has been such a mess.

  3. YES!! I signed up. And if there is someone in Canada who is unmatched, I would happily send international packages!

    1. Aww, you’re so sweet, Engie. Thank you for offering that.

  4. Thanks, San for organizing this again. Maybe I’ll get snacks or small pillows for my walk in closet when Coach and I are hiding from the girls’ and their outbursts. Kidding, but your comment yesterday had me cackling. This is a fun tradition. I look forward to it.

  5. Yeahhh, of course I signed up and let’s see if my very well known Secret Santa (Hi T.) and I are matched again or if there is another German in the mix.
Whoever my Secret Santa will – be I am excited.

Thank you so much for organizing the year in and year out and especially this year when everything is just too much.

    1. Yay. Thanks for always participating, Tobia. I love that.

  6. Oh yes you know I signed up!!! And you’re not kidding about international shiopping fees. I tried to send something very small to Canada today (like a small keychain) in a small, padded mailing envelope and the cheapest option was $18. I mean, this was TINY! It was so not worth it that I changed my mind- this person will be getting a lovely card from me instead. So, I hope at least two people sign up from Canada and Germany.

    1. Yay Jenny. Happy to have you again!

  7. Hooray! I signed up. I can’t wait to participate again this year!

  8. I’m late to the game but of course I’m in (Hi T.).
Excited for another year of Secret SANta swap!

  9. I signed up! I’m happy to mail internationally if needed.
