Turns out it’s pretty good waking up early. “There was so much day ahead of me! So many hours to be alive. […] I felt like I had already lived an entire day only to have another one sprawling before me.”

In case you were wondering (as I was). What’s it really like to live in Washingon, D.C. right now.

Lifehacks! Some of these are genius!

Haha. A course syllabus for making new friends as an adult.

The Other Talk. “The first thing people see when they look at you is your skin color. People will look at your skin and all they will see is black. It doesn’t matter what you accomplish in life. If you become a doctor, a lawyer, a movie star — they will look at you, and the first thing they will see is your blackness.”

My friend Mikael asked (and wrote): What’s the word for 2020 – Bravery!

Justice before Unity!

My Trader Joe’s Favorites. I always love to hear what other people buy – and love – from Trader Joe’s!

Common courtesy and social engagement. I couldn’t agree more.

The Ridgeline Cardigan. One of these days, I am going to knit a piece of clothing.

For my runner friends

  1. Oh, gosh! I didn’t realize you shared my blog too! Thanks for the share, San! <3

Some of those life hacks from Buzzfeed had me laughing out loud… XD And cheers to Trader Joe's! I miss it so much! (It's would be a subway trek to get there from here…)

  2. Loved the National Parks article! We went to Zion and the Grand Canyon last year and now are obsessed with visiting them all. We definitely contributed to the Instagramming!

  3. One of the screen savers on our Amazon fire stick is the horseshoe in AZ (not sure this is part of a National park?) but it makes me think of you when I see it as I remember you sharing photos of it on your blog! Would love to see it in person some day.

I look forward to a time when it works to run in the morning! I am hoping to return to running this year but will probably run during lunches when back at work. But in 1.5-2 years both our boys should be sleeping better and I can run in the morning on weekends. Early morning long runs were always my fave!

  4. I need to check out that Life Hacks post. I just love these random bits of knowledge!

  5. //That syllabus is hilarious. I laughed out loud. Thanks for that!
Also? That mushroom, farro, and kale stew sounds wonderful – although I’d replace the kale with spinach as kale is the ONE vegetable my body hates.

And finally, I am beyond impressed with your knitting skills if you’re even *considering* knitting a piece of clothing. Whoa.

    1. I frequently replace spinach with kale in recipes, so definitely go for it. I also made the soup last weekend, but didn’t do the “vegan” (cashew) version but replaced it with a cup of half and half. It was delicious!

I’ll let you know if I ever work up the courage to try knitting a piece of clothing.
