feeling ecstatic about the washer and dryer that J and I purchased on no other day than Valentine’s Day. If this isn’t romantic, I don’t know what is. Ha. Well, bottom line is: no more laundromat for us! I couldn’t be more excited.

reading A Place To Stand by Jimmy Santiago Baca for the Postal Bookclub. Such a good book!

working on getting settled into our house. Man, my gut is telling me that this to be process that will be going on for a while, am I right? But it’s definitely fun, too. I am not complaining.

listening to NPR (mostly) in the car on my commute to and from work and a couple of “Lovecast” episodes on my runs.

cooking the same dishes over and over right now because we can’t get enough of our brown rice pasta casserole and pork belly. Do you end up cooking the same dishes again and again?

looking forward to my birthday month. I have some fun things planned.

enjoying my runs at the local park.

watching the presidential debates and town halls and feeling incredibly frustrated and appalled and hopeful and inspired at the same time. You figure out yourselves what I mean by this. It shouldn’t be a secret which side I lean politically.

savoring my first cup of coffee and my Real Simple magazine on the weekends.

wearing sandals for the first time this year. It’s been in the 70’s around here.

trying to implement an earlier bedtime again. I usually don’t want to go to bed earlier (because there are so many things I’d like to do in the evenings), but I (know I) feel more rested if I get a solid 8 hours of sleep.

  1. Bedtime is my nemesis, I feel like I can get so much Harriet-time in between 9pm and 1am…and I usually do, and it’s quiet and dark and glorious!! :)

    1. Oh yeah, let’s talk about San- time…. that’s exactly it. ;)

  2. Yay for washers and dryers!!! It makes life SO much easier having them in your own home.

I do find that I cook a lot of the same dishes, but I personally don’t mind so much because I don’t like cooking to begin with so whatever is easy to make, I’m ok with. My husband, however, can get fussy about that. At which point I tell him to figure out what’s for dinner himself. ;)

If we could have one more psychotic GOP debate to top the last one, that’d actually be super great.

    1. I love your enthusiasm for the GOP debates. It’s so good because it’s so bad. :)

  3. Hooray for a washer and dryer! That’s going to be LIFE CHANGING for you guys!

I tend to make the same things over and over again. I like trying new recipes but I also like the simplicity of knowing exactly what ingredients I need and how long it will take, etc. I need to be in the right place mentally to feel motivated enough to try making new things.

I lean towards the right and am incredibly disappointed in the pool of Republican candidates. I can’t believe Trump is doing as well as he is. It’s mind boggling and makes me wonder what the average IQ of the people voting in the primaries is. I know that sounds mean but I just don’t know how an intelligent person could choose him.

    1. I totally agree with you – I don’t know how an intelligent person could vote for Trump (or Cruz for that matter). It’s way beyond issues.

  4. Love that top left picture, the trees and the beautiful colour of the sky!

What could be more romantic than freshly laundered sheets? Happy washer dryer Day! I got comfortable in my new house a little too quickly and all those decorating and upgrading tasks are still on the to do list nearly 4 years later, oops! I don’t plan to have babies so I wish I could take the maternity leave as decorating and renovating leave haha.

    1. Haha – that’s what we’re going to call it from now on “Happy washer and dryer day!” . :)

I’d like that maternity leave for home projects too please ;)

  5. Sandals! OMG. I can’t wait to stop wearing my boots, as much as I love them & hate summer. I feel like my feet haven’t seen the light of day in months.

    1. As much as I love boots, I am really happy for some air between my toes ;) hope springs coming to Ohio soon!

  6. Congrats on the washer and dryer! I would love something like that for Valentine’s Day :D I need to start going to bed earlier too … I’ve started reading before bed and I just get too carried away. 10 minutes turns into an hour most nights!

    1. Oh, I totally get it. I’ve been reading before bed too and I have to force myself to only read one chapter… otherwise I’ll not sleep at all ;)

  7. I’m so happy you have a washer and dryer now! That is going to be life-changing. :)

    1. Thanks friend. I am beyond thrilled ;)

  8. That pasta casserole looks delicious! And coffee & Real Simple sounds like a fabulous way to kick off the weekend.

    1. That pasta casserole is my fave right now ;)

  9. It took us so long to get settled into our house and we’re only renting it. I can only imagine how long it will take you! ;)

Congrats on having your own washer and dryer in-house! #lifechanging
