obsessing over my new coffee mug. It just makes mornings so much better.

reading On the corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. I had this book sitting on my bookshelf for a while and decided to start it while I am waiting for the new book for my bookclub.

watching nothing in particular. I’ve been talking with J about wanting to start a new series (preferably on Netflix, so we can watch on our own time), but we haven’t been able to decide on a series. It’s always so hard to get started, right? Although, this reminds me… I haven’t finished Parenthood yet. Mmh.

recommending to always schedule in a little me-time into your day, even if it’s only 15 minutes.

wearing boots and scarves and loving it.

working on upping my running game a bit again. I took a little break from running after my 10k at the end of November (which I should have seen coming) and only went for a few shorter runs over the holidays and during the moving process. I definitely need to get in some longer runs again. The longest I’ve run in the last 8 weeks was 45 minutes, which is not bad, but I need to build up my mileage.

eating all the random goodies that my Mom sent in her belated Christmas package. I am a moderator when it comes to sweets, so I know these goodies will last me a long while (which is a good thing!).

drinking lots and lots of tea. It’s that time of the year.

loving all the rain that we’ve been getting here in California. We need it.

knitting a cowl for a yarn group that I am part of. It’s the first time in months that I feel like I had the time and leisure to get out my yarn and I am excited. Maybe I’ll even finish my striped cardigan that I started last winter.

keeping in mind that we just moved into a house and the spending will eventually go down again. Haha.

  1. I’ve been doing more knitting lately, too. I sometimes struggle to stay awake in the evening when Phil and I watch movies so I have been knitting to help myself stay alert. I’m working on a shawl, which is something I started 2 years ago! It’s taking forever but will be pretty when it’s finished!

  2. I’m still munching down on goodies that I brought back from Germany last fall. In the end, less is more, right?

  3. I love that mug too! :) So perfect.

Have you seen Making a Murderer on Netflix? It’s really good. But only if you like that sort of thing (documentary/mystery/showing how bad the justice system is or can be). Also if you like the comic book type shows, Jessica Jones and Daredevil are fantastic. And in case you never saw it on PBS, Sherlock is pretty dang awesome.

    I have a Netflix problem.

I forget that you can still run in the winter since many of us here don’t do that right now. Except for that one person I saw at 6am today when it was below 15F and felt like 0F because of the wind, going for a run in our neighborhood. I don’t get people like that.

  4. Love the mug! Been doing more knitting again as well. In fact I just finished up a set of a cowl and headband for a dear friend in Canada, just have to get it shipped out, so she has it while winter is still lasting!
    Enjoy your German goodies! xxx

  5. Oh gosh, between you and Lisa I now have some major guilt about the blanket that’s been sitting on my needles for a looooong time! I think it must be a sign to get knitting again :)

Your mug is lovely but that sink in the background is stealing the show. We’ve been watching Galavant recently, the episodes are short and it’s quite funny.

  6. is the picture a sneek peek of your kitchen in your new house? :)

  7. That mug is so cute! Our spending was crazy when we moved, too. I was able to restrain myself after the first two or three months. I’m glad I hit “pause” on buying EVERYthing I wanted, because now I can use all of my Christmas gift money and put it towards some splurges, like nicer jewelry storage trays/racks and pretty boxes and bins for all of my craft supplies.

  8. Ah moving expenses!!!!

  9. I feel ya on the spending after a move. We moved almost four months ago and we are still buying stuff, like a lawnmower and hedge trimmers. Transitioning from an apartment to a house is expensive!

  10. Sounds really lovely. What sweets did you mom send you? My husband is not a big fan of sweets himself, so it always takes him forever to eat them (or I end up eating them instead…)

  11. I loved all the rain we got, but I’m so glad it’s gone so we can have Riley’s birthday party sort of outdoors, ha.

And yay for boots and scarf weather. I hope that at least stays, just without the rain. And oh yes, finish Parenthood. It was a great final season, I was not disappointed.

  12. I’ve been (binge) watching “Once Upon A Time” and “White Collar” lately…and “Big Bang Theory.” :) Next up is to get caught up on “Bones” and “NCIS.” I’ve missed Gibbs something fierce. :)
