loving the holiday season. Despite the fact that we won’t be traveling and we won’t be seeing family for Christmas, I always embrace this season and I’ve tried to decorate and make our home as cozy as I can.
watching Christmas movies. I am trying to fit in as many as humanly possible. So far I crossed It’s a Wonderful Life, The Grinch, and Home Alone 2 off my list. Many, many more to go.
drinking hot chocolate with whipped cream. It’s a treat I only have around the holidays.
eating Christmas cookies. I haven’t baked myself, because I am waiting for a package with goodies from home, but I bought some Christmas cookies and my co-worker has generously brought some cookies to the office. Which cookies are your favorites?
looking forward to a long weekend. I won’t be taking any time off over Christmas this year, so it’s nice to at least get two 4-day weekends in a row. It’ll be odd to work between Christmas and New Year’s though. Are you taking time off?
enjoying coffee out of my new mug!
trying to finish strong on my running goal for this year. Will I be able to hit 1000k by December, 31?
sending Christmas cards and a few packages. I love wrapping presents and putting little packages together, but most of my Christmas gifts were ordered online this year, because the added cost of shipping is just insane (especially when sending overseas).
wearing fuzzy socks at home and fingerless gloves at the office (because they always turn down the heater over Christmas break, although they know that people will be working… ugh.)
listening to NKOTB’s Christmas album. Naturally.
reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline for the #PostalBookclub.
hoping for a great 2017. 2016 was a bit of a mixed bag, so I am curious to see what 2017 has in store for us.
keeping in mind that not everybody looks forward to the holidays because people have strained family relations or are generally stressed by the holiday expectations and trying to do something good for someone less fortunate.

December 22, 2016 at 11:56 amI need to wear fingerless gloves at home as my hands get so cold! And we have had to negotiate about where to set the thermostat! Phil likes it at 63 (!!!!), but we have negotiated it up to 68 when I am around. But no matter what we set it at, my hands are always cold!
I’m not taking any time off around the holidays as my coworkers with kids like to be off during this time of year. I’m glad Christmas and New years day fall on Sundays – so nice to have a 3-day weekend!
Merry Christmas!!

December 23, 2016 at 4:46 pm63! Oh god, we have it set to at least 68, sometimes even 70. But I still get cold feet and hands.
Enjoy your long weekends! xo

December 22, 2016 at 12:55 pmMmmm. I love any cookies with jelly in them! linzer tarts, thumbprint cookies, any of it. Honestly, I like most desserts :-) I have off the week between christmas and new year’s because our University closes – they’ve arranged so the week is all floating holidays (as opposed to president’s day, etc). I always enjoy the week, it seems like a little refresh before we walk back into a busy office.

December 23, 2016 at 4:49 pmI wish everybody had the time between Christmas and New Year’s off to refresh before the new year. I work on a campus, too and everything is shut down, just our building is open and it’s usually cold because maintenance forgets that we’re the only ones that are there between Christmas and New Year’s.

December 23, 2016 at 5:46 pmSince my family is all local, I rarely take time off for Christmas/New Year’s. I’d rather save up for those long months throughout the year with no breaks! :)
Also – super stoked that Ready Player One will be my next Postal Book Club book. I’ve been looking forward to reading it!

December 26, 2016 at 4:15 pmThat totally makes sense that you’re saving your precious vacation time for other times of the year…. I’d do the same.
