2023 Weekly Run Down 12/52 – Travel week

I am linking up again for the Weekly Run Down with Kim and Deborah.

I don’t have much to share this week. This was a very low-key week. I was gone for fieldwork from Sunday to Thursday again and it was hard to fit in any workouts. The hotel we stayed at didn’t even have a gym (can you believe that in this day and age?) and so I opted for some yoga and meditation.

However, a nice perk was that we were working in the desert and the hotel had a natural hot spring-fed pool area and I obviously took advantage of that. It might not count as a workout, but it sure counts as self-care, am I right?

Monday:
  • 20 Min Energizing Meditation – Ross (2/4/21)
  • 60 Min Hot Spring Soaking
Tuesday:
  • 20 Min Energizing Meditation – Kristin (1/22/20)
  • 15 Min Standing Yoga – Ross (11/15/21)
  • 60 Min Hot Spring Soaking
Wednesday:
  • 10 Min Morning Meditation – Mariana (2/27/23)
  • 15 min Walking
  • 60 Min Hot Spring Soaking

Thursday:

  • 15 Min Happiness Meditation – Ross (3/19/23)

This was my travel day back home (I drove 10 hours) and the opportunity for any kind of workout was limited, so I did a meditation during one of my stops along the way.

Friday:
  • 30 min Yoga Flow – Ross (3/24/23)

This was a busy day catching up (on some sleep) and on errands and household chores. The day kind of got away from me quickly, so I opted for some yoga before dinner.

Saturday:

  • 5 Min Pre-Run Warm up – JJ (7/17/22)
  • 45 Min 80’s Run – Tobias (9/1/22)
  • 10 Min Post-Run Stretch – Tobias (2/4/23)
  • 10 Min Focus Flow for Runners – Kristin (3/21/23)

The weather was cool but sunny, and I took advantage and headed out for my first run in almost two weeks! I didn’t realize that I took this long of a(n unintentional) break and it was good to get out there again.

Sunday:
  • 10 Min Warm Up Ride – Ben (10/2/22)
  • 30 Min Intervals & Arms Ride – Ally (3/26/23)
  • 30 Min London Ride – Hannah F
  • Extra 10: Low Impact Ride – Camila (2/21/23)
  • 10 Min Full Body Stretch – Erik (3/18/23)

I finally reunited with my bike and scheduled a ride with Tanja again.

This week’s stats:

Running: 5.14 mi
Walking: 15 min
Cycling: 21.3 mi
Yoga: 55 min
Warm up + Stretching: 25 min
Meditation: 65 min

EXTRA: soaks in the hot spring! Yay!

Tell me about your week!

  1. Hmm! I think I would forgive your hotel for not having a gym, since they had the hot springs pool. That must have been nice. That run on Friday must have felt good!
I’ll bet your work trip was really nice, but it’ll feel good to get back to a normal schedule this week.

  2. Wow, that hotel looks lovely. I’m glad you got to enjoy the pool!

  3. Those hot springs soaks sound amazing! Taking some time off can be good sometimes. Have a great week ahead

  4. So good riding with you again.

  5. That hotel property looks GORGEOUS. I’ve only been to hot springs once and it was amazing. Definitely an experience I’d love to repeat at some point in my life.

  6. All that hot springs soaking sounds like pure bliss! I’m not a hotel gym-goer, so I’d be content just doing bodyweight strength work or stair-climbing (if there were multiple floors). Sound like it was a nice low-key week, and we all need those from time to time ;-)

  7. It always amazes me when hotels don’t have gyms – I feel like that should be the standard! I once stayed at a hotel that had an indoor pool but no gym – so strange. You still did a great job staying active!

  8. Your hotel stay looks and sounds fabulous!

I had a calmer, but still busy week. There were a few days out and some media events, all of which were pretty fabulous.

  9. Oooh, a hot spring?! That sounds incredible…

  10. No gym at a hotel! That’s a little wild. Maybe they assume everyone works out outside, running or cycling in the desert.

    Love a hot spring soak!

  11. And self-care is always good! So glad you got some in this week!

  12. Hot springs sound pretty awesome! I do like when a hotel has a gym, but I rarely use them. I have been enjoying my week in the woods, camping with my family. My camper has just the right amount of creature comforts! Not quite as glamorous as your hotel ;)

  13. Ten hours sounds like an awful drive back home. You needed a soak in the natural hot spring-fed pool after that drive!

Yay for getting out for a run again!

  14. That is one long drive. Meditation would be welcome! And.. no gym? Really? The last time that happened to me was in a random motel in the middle of Minnesota. I’d also forgotten a sports bra so it was an interesting – and short – run outside. Ha. Glad you had a good trip, but I bet you are equally glad to be home. Smart to take the cut-back week – I imagine the first run back was a lot of fun! :)

  15. Definitively you its as self care. A hot spring is so relaxing. And I bet being in the desert all day was somewhat of a workout too, wasn’t it?
